Description:
The Dark Fleet is Titan Industries, and more importantly, Alric Kuhns last line of defense.
The Fleet consists of sixteen individual ships, one Wyyrlok Class Star Destroyer and fifteen Maladi Class Strike Frigates. Each of these ships is crewed by a number of Z6 Naval Droids and each ship contains a complement of A3 Legionnaire Droids totaling twenty thousand across all sixteen ships. The Fleet is completely and entirely automated, there is not a living soul aboard any of the ships. The crew quarters on each vessel have been converted into droid storage and so have the cafeterias, freshers, and any other amenities that the living might need.
The purpose of the Dark Fleet is simple, a fleet on demand.
Alric knew that despite Titan Industries vast foundries and shipyards eventually there would be a situation where additional forces would be required, or a situation where he would need emergency aid. Due to this, and due to the high level of production Titan Industries is currently experiencing, he began to make preparations for this inevitable emergency.
The result of these preparations was the Dark Fleet.
The Dark Fleet, titled as such due to the lack of living creatures aboard was a simple idea. A fleet that was entirely automated, run by droids programmed to be Loyal to Titan Industries. The fleet would be crewed by Z6 Naval Droids, each one educated by Top Titan Industries employees on how to operate the Maladi's and Wyyrlok class Star Destroyer in in the fleet. After their education the Z6's would be set aboard the fleet.
The Fleet would then jump into hyperspace, disappearing to a random unset location. From there the droid crew would go into semi-shut down, waking only from time to time in case of emergency, enacting repairs, or when another random hyperspace jump was scheduled.
In this the Dark Fleet was not too different from the fabled Katana Fleet. The armada would jump around from place to place at random, staying hidden within the furthest reaches of hyperspace and the darkest parts of the galaxy.
The difference however was that The Dark Fleet contained a beacon.
This beacon simply put was a way to Recall the Dark Fleet in times of emergency. There is one of these beacons located on each of the sixteen ships. This is to form a layer of redundancy within the networked system, If one beacon is damaged, the other fifteen are still active and capable of producing the system. The beacons themselves are activated by three specific triggers.
These triggers are quite simple.
The first is if Titan Industries Headquarters on Coruscant are attacked. The Second is if Titan Station is attacked*, and the last is if any one of three hand held switches is flipped. These three hand held switches are simple communication devices with only a single frequency, when a button is pressed a signal is sent out and triggers the beacons aboard the Dark Fleet. These three devices are held by Danger, Silara, and Alric.
The Dark Fleet to sum it all up is in the end a very simple last defense mechanism put in place by Alric Kuhn to defend his interests and loved ones. It is in essence a way of providing safety and security for Alric, Titan Industries, and the people that Alric cares about. It is very unlikely that the Dark Fleet will ever be used.
More than likely the Dark Fleet will traverse the Stars much like the legendary Katana Fleet, moving aimlessly through the abyss until it is called upon or found within the deep blackness.
