Description: The Dark Forge of Aza’zoth is a complex piece of black, alchemized stone, approximately the size of an AT-ST’s command cabin. It is an intense Dark Side nexus dating back to the Hundred-Year Darkness, and (unless somehow surpassed by one of its many imitators) probably the most powerful alchemical apparatus in the galaxy.
During the Hundred Years of Darkness, the ancient cult called the Lords of Shadow crafted an unmatched alchemical forge, a gargantuan Dark Side nexus. The primary creator was [member="Darth Hauntruss"], once Val’Ryss Zankarr. The Forge was located beneath the House of the Undying (also known as the Temple of the Dark Forge), a Dark Side complex on the planet Aza’zoth in the Eye of Flames Nebula. Zankarr used the Dark Forge of Aza’zoth to accelerate the creation of monsters, while others used it to craft weapons. In later centuries, the cultists of Aza’zoth worshipped the Dark Forge, even rumoring that it was sentient.
Hauntruss, Valik, [member="Rave"] Merrill, and Velok attempted an ambitious and ultimately unsuccessful crafting project at the Forge, during Rave’s earliest years as the Forge’s caretaker.
Hauntruss destroyed the House of the Undying in the presence of several powerful Darksiders; Rave remained as the buried Forge’s caretaker. Later, Rave used the Forge to teach alchemy to [member="Isley Verd"] and Darth Kyros, and to craft [member="Darth Vornskr"]’s personal Sith amulet, as well as the sword Entropy.
Circe Savan and her lover once visited Aza’zoth, but failed in their quest to use the Forge, as did various One Sith alchemists and the associates of Vilox Pazela. When it became clear that all manner of undesirables and pretenders had access to Aza’zoth, Rave contracted two human replica droids to remove the Dark Forge and transport it halfway across the galaxy. With the assistance of Asemir Lor’kora, Rave took the Forge to the remote planet of Kelsier, a hundred thousand light-years from Aza’zoth. The Forge began its long residence in Fort Elsa, Rave’s secret alchemy facility. The qo’saarai tuk’ata became its caretakers, and the Forge was protected by thick layers of nullification resin, as well as the Deicide Oculus itself. Rave brought [member="Ayden Cater"] there, though he never learned what planet he’d visited. Together, they used the Forge to create his sword Lymmahtun.
Two clues to the Dark Forge’s location were part of Rave’s will; each clue was claimed and its riddle solved by a different person, and those people never met.
The Dark Forge inspired numerous imitators. The personal forges of Isley Verd, Darth Mythos, and Lord Dissero, among others, were wholly or partially patterned after the Dark Forge of Aza’zoth, as was the forge in Fresia’s Temple of Pain. The site of the Forge, and Aza’zoth in general, became breeding grounds for Sithspawn, especially those associated with the One Sith. The Underground dropped Force-eating mites at the former temple site on Aza’zoth, in an attempt to clean up the leftover presence of the Forge’s nexus and cripple Sithspawn production.
Later, Rave offered the Forge to Hauntruss, but the deal fell apart. Hauntruss’ daughter @Grimoire, in cooperation with Darths Vornskr and Ferus, searched for the Forge in vain. Briefly, Rave moved the Forge to the planet Sanctuary, during the height of another One Sith attempt to find the Forge.
Later, she would return it to Fort Elsa and the protection of the Deicide Oculus. There it remained after Rave’s turn to the Light Side and subsequent death at Dromund Kaas. The qo’saarai tuk’ata remained its caretakers, and [member="Cerita Sarova"] -- Rave’s former lab assistant -- also had some access, as did [member="Mara D’Lessio Merrill[/FONT][FONT=Arial]"]. In general, however, the Dark Forge remained silent, quiescent, its nexus protected from Force senses and farsight.
