The Dark Path

PANATHA
in orbit
The Punitor fell out of hyperspace as quickly as she had entered it above Altier; long cerulean streaks of starlight quickly coalescing into singular pricks of bright-white light as Panatha, considered by some (Sibilus included) as a modern Sith world, emerged. The ship had been greeted by the dark side of the planet, and night would soon break to day on this side of the globe, though for now the Epicanthic homeworld seemed to be shrouded in an unyielding darkness, clusters of bright lights signifying the locations of some of the great city-states on-world. The ship would be manoeuvred into orbit around the planet, awaiting clearance to enter the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Darth Sibilus himself was stood on the bridge of the Tachys-class pursuit corvette, his personal starship, gazing absentmindedly out onto the planet. He was fitted into a different garb than the looser tunic he wore on Altier just hours earlier, and held a much stronger aura after his long-awaited rest. Now, the Sith Lord truly 'looked the part', and though visual interpretations were no measure of any being's true power, the nobleman felt much more comfortable wearing robes befitting of the occasion. He was Sith; and his dressing reflected that. A sultry robe clung to his impressive frame like an impenetrable shadow, folds of rich cloth seeming to teem with the Bogan itself. The Lord's hands were crossed across his chest, feet planted firmly shoulder-width apart as he awaited his apprentice.

Word had been sent from the Sith Lord's personal quarters to those of his new protégé, instructing the young human that he would be to meet his new master on the bridge after they had reverted to real-space. An officer, adorned in a pristine black suit bearing the insignia of the Sith Empire notified Darth Sibilus of his apprentice's approach, before turning curtly with a respectful nod and continuing his duties. They would soon be landing on Panatha, Sibilus was informed, and so he would await both his young apprentice and his eager return to his home.

On Caordos, Sibilus had contacted his estate and instructed the staff, just as he had on the Punitor for a room to be assembled for Valin for his stay in the Rapux estate, and the entire house to be re-arranged into a more welcoming manner.

THE DARK PATH

Remaining conscious had been a difficult task to master during the first hour or so of his time aboard the Punitor. Though his body had been patched up nicely by the folks in the medbay, the fact remained that Valin had exhausted himself mentally and physically back on Altier and thus he had succumbed to the warm embrace of sleep within his cabin. It was actually a rather nice space given that the boy's presence here had been unexpected, not quite on par with Tyric's estate but then again this was a ship and that was a manor which had belonged in the family for countless generations... And thus it wasn't fair to compare the two.

When he finally awoke for good his first instinct had been to reach for one of the tomes he'd acquired on Denon. Of course, the main problem with that was that they'd been lost within the wreckage alongside most of the boy's belongings. That was a shame, he'd truly been excited to try and learn how to restore the books to their original state... And to read whatever knowledge lay within. He reached for his clothes, which had been removed when they tended to his injuries and were now replaced with a basic tunic and trouser set, and patted down the pockets in order to see what, if anything, still remained.

There was the small commlink, though busted, as well as the access cards for the study fund his parents had set up for him many years ago. Outside of that, however, he had nothing. No reminders of who he was, and certainly nothing to distract himself with. He hadn't been informed of whether or not he was free to roam the ship, so the rest of his time was spent exploring the room and becoming lost in thought. That always left him in a somewhat bitter mood.

Toward the tail end of the journey, not too long before his presence was requested aboard the corvette, he sat himself down in the center of his room and practiced levitating whatever loose objects he could find. While he didn't like to overexert himself, he disliked boredom much more.

Of course all of this was simply a bridge, a passage of time with little meaning, and soon enough he was called upon. He had found a nice set of clothes within the cabin closet, much more comfortable than those from Serenno he'd ruined on Altier, and changed into them before heading out to the hangar bay. In his pockets lay the last two items he owned from his former life, though he knew one was currently useless and the other would be once his parents realized what had happened. Perhaps it was time to let them go, too...

Still, he left them where they were and hastened his approach.

Valin's arrival on the corvette was quiet, in part because he did not wish to disturb his Master but mostly because he did not yet know the words to use. Of course titles had been provided, but even so they still felt strange upon his tongue. He did, however, bow his head once he came into view. By now he knew it would be folly to disrespect the man before him... No matter how difficult it was to act the part of subservience.
