"Can you check my oxygen tank?" Valery asked Kahlil after she stepped right in front of him. Unlike Rhemti Totriddiam Rhemti Totriddiam , who could easily breathe and live underwater, Valery and Kahlil had to use special equipment for this mission to Glee Anselm. A currently unknown, but highly aggressive creature has been terrorizing a town close to the farm where Rhemti's parents live, so Valery decided to make it a group assignment. It would not only be problem-solving experience but also test the Padawan during an assignment closer to home.

A Jedi should accept emotions and understand personal conflict, but not be controlled by it.

The mission would also give the two Nobles a chance to gain more experience handling underwater assignments. They weren't that common, and few Jedi existed with the experience to handle them, so this task would hopefully change that a little.

"All secure?" she flashed a grin over her shoulder, then walked around him. "Crouch down a little, love," she told him before also going through a check to make sure the oxygen tank was properly secured to his mask. There was absolutely no room for error with things like this, so as much as she loved to mess around sometimes, she took this very seriously.

"Rhemti, since we're going to your hometown, do you want to lead the way?" She glanced down at the ramp that hovered just above the water's surface and smirked. Whether he would or not, she let herself fall into the water and took a moment to get used to all that equipment strapped to her body. Once adjusted, she turned to the others and motioned to where the town would be.

"Ready when you two are."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I got ya."

Kahlil chuckled just a little as he adjusted her oxygen tank. Not because there was anything funny about it. He just knew what was coming next. Which then had him crouching down in front of her to let her do the same. All because, well. She was short. Compared to him anyway. His gaze then settled on Rhemti. Gave him a nod. to see him here, back home after so long, there was more than just the problem they were alerted to that they were going to be working on today.

"You good?"

Rhemti Totriddiam Rhemti Totriddiam

"More than ready, absolutely." He grinned, flashing his sharp pointed teeth before taking a running leap off the ramp, diving into the surf. He let out a sigh of relief, taking a moment to acclimate to the water. It had been so long since Rhemti had left home, and even if they were only just in the open waters near his families farm and the nearby town, it felt nice just being there again. "Alright." The Nautolan shook himself out, getting focused as he spun around in the water, swimming quickly to Kahlil and Valery's sides as they finished getting settled in amongst the waves.

"You wanted me to lead the way, yeah? To town or my parents?" His parents had been the one's to reach out, to ask for aid; they thought it was the fastest way to ask for help by reaching out to their eldest. This unknown behemoth that was lurking about the currents had yet to affect his families farm, thankfully, but it had been sighted by some of the locals in the town, and with a few family pets going missing as well as small livestock, the town had begun to grow increasingly paranoid.

Rhemti seemed to feel good and confident about this mission here — a good sign, considering his parents were the ones who sent out the call for help. Many would feel intense pressure on them because of that, and likely rush into action without thinking things through. As long as they all remained calm, she knew they'd be alright.

"Let's head to your parent's farm first, since they called for our help. Even if the creature isn't there, they might know where to find it," Valery said before she swam over and moved around the others a little. This wasn't her first time on an underwater mission, but it had been too long ago, so she looked a little unnatural with her swimming technique.

Mostly because of all the extra equipment she needed.

Once Rhemti began to lead the way, Valery joined up beside her husband and flashed a smirk. "You've done well with his training. He seems very calm and relaxed, even though this might be more personal to him."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Like Master Valery said, to your families farm."

Kahlil gave a confirming nod as they looked towards him. And a smile. As they watched Rhemti take the lead and she started to talk to him, he couldn't help but nod again. He watched his Padawan, both with pride, and concern.

"He has always been good at keeping himself calm. Better than some others. But I've not seen him with his family in some time. And family is always when Jedi struggle the most. I just hope there's nothing that might put him in some kind of trial."

"Alright. Can the couple keep on course to the kelp farm?" He grinned, enjoying how that one phrase sounded, to the point that he started chuckling as he went to lead the way. The young male turned, using the nearby undersea mountain much like a landmark. It would be maybe five or ten minutes of swimming before the water seemed to shimmer in the distance, .

"Hey, uh. Hold hands, yeah?" He smiled as reassuringly as he could, stopping just short of the drifting water, offering a hand to each Jedi, answering any questions with: "We're taking the highway." Once he had both of their hands he'd swim out, into the shimmer. The three would immediately begin to coast in a completely different direction, down and past a rock shelf or two, taking the three of them closer to the bottom. It was a current.

Rhemti held tight to their hands, making sure they wouldn't be separated, not that it would be impossible to find them if they somehow got split up, but it wasn't exactly something they had the time to deal with.

Eventually the scenery would change, and the current would head back up towards the surface. Rhemti changed course just before the curve, swimming down and out of the current, bringing Valery and Kahlil along with him. "You two okay after that?" He smiled sheepishly, turning to look at them both. "Sorry for not giving you more warning. It's a faster way to travel out here in the sticks."

"Today might test him, but that's why we're here to-"

"Alright. Can the couple keep on course to the kelp farm?"

Valery blinked and looked at her husband. Then she chuckled and picked up the pace a little to keep up with Rhemti. It was always easy for her to get lost in conversation with Kahlil, but they did have a mission to focus on. "Apologies~" she snickered and joined up until Rhemti asked about holding hands.

She was about to ask why, when he offered an explanation that only made her more curious. Valery spotted the currents shortly after and understood what he meant, so she took his hand, as well as Kahlil's, and joined them for the ride. Normally, she'd have never done this, but with Rhemti guiding them through, she knew they'd be safe.

"I'm fine," Valery said once they got out, "Vera would have loved that." She chuckled and turned her gaze in direction of the farm. The highway had saved the three Jedi a lot of time, so hopefully, that would give them an advantage for the remainder of the mission.

"Do you, uh, want to introduce us to your parents?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil raised a brow curiously at Rhemti. Then smirked. Of course, right. Mission first. Though they were talking about him. He hummed in thought. No, better to play along with it for now. His worry over his Padawan wasn't going to help now.

Then they were swept away. He didn't bother to think it through. If the Nautolan had an idea, he'd follow. He earned that much from his Master. A zip through the current wasn't what he expected though. By the time they made it to the end the tall man was blinking and staring around in an almost daze.

"Vera would have loved that."

"No uh, no doubt. .. Is it normal to be dizzy? Hooo boy that was uh.. An experience, heh." A nervous laugh and a grin at least showed he was fine. He'd recover. Maybe he was getting old?

Rhemti couldn't hide his amused grin as his master seemed to need a moment. "You okay there Boss? Seasick?" He teased, trying not to be too much of a brat before he turned, waving for the two masters to follow.

"This way. You can see the crop from here actually." He swam purposefully in one direction, towards an opening in the rock face. As they neared there would be pieces of rock and stone embedded in the seafloor, almost like a cobbled path. It led through the opening, revealing within an open undersea valley, or something like it. Almost every visible inch inside the area was a mixture of deep greens and ambers. Kelp. So much kelp. From the seafloor up, only a few feet or so between the top of their leafy tips and the metal grate that seemed to cover the entire area.

It was quiet. Very quiet. Rhemti squinted, holding still for a moment before slowly starting to drift forward. There was usually someone out checking the crop at this time of day. He should hear someone, see someone. He sensed... something... but he wasn't sure what it was. Something was hiding amongst the kelp.

"Somethings not right.." Rhemti commented quietly to the two, slowly moving forward down the path through the kelp beds. "Where is everyon--" The red skinned nautolan was cut off as multiple blurs leapt out from the kelp! On either side! Rhemti let out a startled cry, which was drowned out amongst the battlecries that escaped his younger siblings.

Rhemti was pinned, beneath a dog pile of six younger nautolan of varying ages and colors. "Boss! W-were under attack!" Rhemti's voice came muffled from beneath the pile.

"Need a moment, love?" Valery asked with a shit-eating grin. It was unusual to see him like this and suggested that it was something about being underwater that had him dizzy. So it seemed she had found a 'weakness' she could exploit in her teasing to finally gain an advantage over him in some ways. Maybe. Probably not.

For now, she decided to focus on their mission again and swam close to her husband while they followed after Rhemti, who was far quicker in the water. "Maybe this is an idea for a future trip for us two? Exploring an oceanic planet." Of course, without having to go through anything that made them sick. She just loved how beautiful the planet was, and it got even better when they passed through an opening in the rocks.

The valley was just breathtaking.

However, something also seemed to be off — Rhemti stopped and looked around, but Valery didn't quite understand. She felt no danger or tension in the Force, yet something was supposedly wrong?

"Rhemti, what-" she stopped as suddenly a whole pack of Nautolans appeared to tackle Rhemti. Valery quickly realized that they were no enemies, and just began to laugh.

"I think your Padawan needs some help~" she chuckled.

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil was already laughing. His gaze had drifted as he felt something in the Force. Not lethal intent, but- Yeah. Like when Vera tackled him. And now Rhemti was being assaulted by his siblings. He just floated where he was, watching for a moment with a soft joy in his gaze. Then turned his head to Valery. Snickered.

"No no, this is good for his training. He'll figure it out."

Eh, he probably wouldn't. And it certainly wasn't anything for training. But, even for a moment, it'd do him some good to just be with his family. The old way of the Jedi never would have allowed it. But now, now it could be a strength he'd need in the coming days to remember that he had people he loved, and people who loved him.

"So the traitor returns." It was a deep voice, gruff, but despite the harsh words it was definitely full of love. That or mischief. Both? A large male Nautolan joined the group, drifting up alongside the two Jedi, a deep dark gray in skin. Scars were scattered over every visible part of him that wasn't clothed, and he had a hard set jaw. He gazed at the pile of tadpoles that were his children for a moment, then he began to bark out orders.

"Alright you sorry lot. Enough roughhousin'. Get of your brother and come greet the nice folk he came with. No need to be rude just 'cause you haven't seen his sorry hide in a long while." The children scattered, standing at attention almost, and seemingly in order as flashed varying sharp smiles of joy at Kahlil and Valery.

"Hello!" They all chimed together.

Rhemti was catching his breath for a moment behind them, taking the second to shake the shock out of his system before swimming past them all to join the three adults. "Boss!" Rhemti was addressing Kahlil, but his own father seemed to perk up at the name as well.

"Let me introduce ya." He'd go one by one over each of his siblings, from eldest to youngest.

  • Jin Totriddiam - Brother (Pronounced Jin, like chin but with a J) (second eldest below Rhemti, two years younger) (brighter red than Rhemti, gray striped markings spattered over his head-tails and down his shoulders)
  • Shrav Tottriddiam - Brother (long 'a' sound) (three years younger, twin to Shin) (darker red than Rhemti, pale white/cream colored splotched markings, like rings, across the front of his shoulders and over his head-tails)
  • Shin Tottriddiam - Sister (short 'i' sound) (three years younger, twin to Shrav) (inversed coloring of Shrav)
  • Kodanni Tottridiam - Sister (five years younger) (paler than Rhemti, completely solid in color save for a white/cream colored markings on the tips of her head-tails and framing her jawline/down her neck)
  • Axan Tottridiam - Brother (seven years younger) (reddish gray skin, darker than Rhemti, bands of black across his arms and striped over his head-tails)
  • Cet Tottridiam - Brother (ten years younger) (similar to Rhemti, but has dark gray/black markings that vary slightly in comparison to Rhemti)
  • Miyy Tottridiam - Sister - (eleven years younger) (pinkish/light red skin, bright pale/pink eyes, possibly albino?)
"And this, Boss--" He cut off as he caught his fathers gaze, smiling a bit awkwardly for a moment as he cleared his throat. "Master Kahlil, Master Valery. This is my father."

The adult Nautolan extended a hand in greeting to Kahlil, pupilless eyes taking in his sons' Jedi Master. "Names... Baus.." (pronounced Boss)

That was Rhemti's father alright.

The man's introduction made it seem like the tougher type, but the second that he flashed his first smile, Valery could see where Rhemti had it from. She looked the man over, mostly because his scarring had caught her eye. As a kelp farmer, it seemed unlikely that he regularly got himself hurt, so had he been a warrior? Or maybe they were scars from when he was a younger troublemaker?

Or perhaps they were more recent.

Her eyes shift up to meet the man's gaze again, but she swiftly turned to the group of Nautolans. It was no secret that Valery adored kids, so seeing them all together made her smile brightly. "They're adorable..." Valery said softly, while she joined her husband and watched the man approach.

"It's a pleasure to meet you," she said as he introduced himself and offered her husband a handshake. "Your son has been an excellent Jedi, so it's lovely to meet his family too, and see where it all comes from."

Of course, there was another more important reason for this visit, but she was going to leave that to Kahlil or Rhemti's father to bring up. There was nothing wrong with taking a moment for introductions.

Baus nodded in either agreement or understanding as both Jedi Masters spoke highly of his eldest, his arms crossed over his chest all the while. He gave it a beat or two of silence, staring at the two for a moment, before finally speaking up again.

"I won't beat around the seaweed. You're here 'cause the wife and I reached out to Rhem' about the strange creature townsfolk have been catchin' glimpses of on the outskirts of the village." The older Nautolan turned himself a bit, in the general direction of where the small village was, even though it couldn't currently be seen due to the natural rock barrier around the valley. "Thankfully none of the townsfolk have gotten hurt. A couple pets an' small livestock from there have gone missin'. We don't really know what this creature is, no one's seen it up close and personal, but its big; makes these loud cries at night, sounds we can hear from here and we're a good thirty minute swim from town."

His brow furrowed, and he looked uncertain. Or maybe it was worry. Hard to tell. "I don't know what the Jedi can do about it, but your the only ones we could think to turn to."

Rhemti listened silently as his father spoke, his own expression hard to read. He was concerned. His father rarely asked others for help. In this case it wasn't so much that his father was the one needing the help, but the folk in the nearby town. The fact that his father seemed worried about those in the next town over, enough to ask for help from an outside source for them. Baus was serious. The danger was serious. And that was reason enough to raise Rhemti's concern.

Valery looked at Baus while he explained the reason that he and his wife had called for Jedi assistance, but rather quickly, she looked at Rhemti instead. His father seemed like a proud type who wouldn't quickly call for help, so the fact that he seemed worried about this creature created some tension in the younger Nautolan as well.

Valery tried to offer a comforting smile, and then turned back to look at Baus again.

"We might be able to calm it down or relocate it somehow. I...feel like something strange is happening if this has never occurred before. Maybe something or someone has caused this creature to become more aggressive." Which also meant it could het worse. Right now, pets had disappeared but what if a child vanished?

"I also suggest to keep small kids inside, especially when it gets dark. And hmm...do you think we should maybe try to find it at night? If nobody has seen it, the beast might be hiding during the day or even sleeping. We could follow its screams at night."

But perhaps this was too dangerous.

"What do you think, love?" She then asked her husband with a gentle smile.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"If it's a nocturnal hunter, it certainly would be better to find it at night." Kahlil rubbed at his chin for a moment before glancing towards Rhemti. If it was too large of a creature, and was a threat, it'd be dangerous. But he smiled after a moment. Nodded to his Padawan before turning his attention to Baus.

"Where was the last time it came by? We can wait close to there, if it's like a feeding ground."

"Opposite side of town from where we are now." Baus grunted in response, looking in the direction of where town was once more before back to the two Jedi. "Town's already set a curfew, so nobody should be gettin' in your way." The older Nautolan looked to his son, that same firm expression still present.

"A bit further north east of the edge of the canyon. Most of the sounds can be heard from around there. Some of the pets and small livestock that went missin' were from different sides of town, so we assume it must've circled the town." His expression hardened, and he looked to Valery and Kahlil again.

"Rhem knows where it is, the rough location of where its been 'sighted'. He can show ya." Rhemti just nodded as his father spoke. His siblings and him used to not only run errands out that way, but play out in the canyon. He knew exactly where it was.

"Very well," Valery said with a dip of her head in Baus' direction. If the people had already made sure that nobody could get harmed through a curfew, she wasn't really concerned anymore. Rhemti wasn't just some kid — he had Jedi training, and both Kahlil and Valery would be looking after him as well, just as much as he'd look after them in these familiar waters. All that remained was locating the beast.

"We'll let Rhemti lead the way and keep an eye out on him," she promised his father.

"Although I'm sure that we're going to need his help more than he'll need ours." Her grin turned to Rhemti this time, hoping that it would inspire some confidence in the task ahead.

Finally, Valery turned to her husband, "Anything else before we go?"
