Repulsor Jammer
STRENGTHS
You’re Grounded: The Downfall generates a field of energy specifically designed to interfere with how repulsor coils excite electrons, thereby interfering with their ability to manipulate gravity. Effectively, this means this device can ground repulsor vehicles within a specific area.
Omnidirectional: The generated field is spherical in shape, removing the need to aim with this device. Just set up and flip the switch.
Power Cell: The Isotope-5 power cell theoretically gives it an unlimited operation time, removing the concerns of having to power it independently.
Hidden: Nightshadow coating to helps the device avoid pesky passive detection sweeps when not operational. Obvious when it is operational, it becomes detectable via other means.
WEAKNESSES
We All Fall Down: The Downfall Device is indiscriminate once active. It doesn’t matter to the device who owns the repulsor coils, friend or foe, it will try to shut them down.
Range: The Downfall generates a field approximately two hundred and fifty meters in diameter. Anything outside of that range will be completely unaffected whilst this device is active.
No Lasting Damage: Once the device is deactivated, or out of range, any and all affected coils will immediately return to full function.
Overheating: As stated, the power cell only theoretically allows it to run without interruption. In practice, the coils become overheated after the first hour and the automated safety feature will kick in and shut down. This can be disabled, but given that we’re dealing with an Isotope-5 power cell, a substance that is notoriously combustible, it really isn’t advised.
DESCRIPTION
Stepping away from the more intimate design of many of Tricks of the Trade’s creations, the Downfall is the Outlaw Tech’s initial foray into devices created primarily for use on the battlefield. Officially marketed as an area denial weapon, it builds upon a non-lethal approach to disabling (or at least hindering) troop movements in a specific area by jamming the localized repulsorlift fields.
The device itself is approximately one meter cubed in size and weighs roughly eighty kilos, making it a good deal lighter than the older, large fixed installations it was based upon. Allowing it to be ferried around by two moderately strong individuals (or one Wookiee) and deployed at a moments notice. Once it has been set up, the device will unfold and begin generating a spherical jamming field over an area exactly two hundred and fifty meters in diameter. In theory, most repulsor coils found within this sphere will abruptly begin to to stall and be rendered inert.
