OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Eidolon Crime Syndicate
  • Classification: Criminal Organization
  • Affiliation: No affiliations, save for those with the credits to spend for their services.
  • Operations: Purchase & resale of illegal or stolen commodities throughout the galaxy, such as drugs, slaves, armaments, etc.
  • Organization Symbol: See above
  • Description: The Eidolon Crime Syndicate operates from the shadows, even within the galactic underworld. Their collective mindset is to allow those who want the limelight and notoriety to have as much of it as they want, while they subtly and secretly engage in their own enterprises and schemes. Their modus operandi includes the following: extortion, slavery, organ harvesting and resale, arms theft/smuggling/resale, racketeering, and bribery. They rarely operate with outright aggression in the open, but instead go to great pains to handle matters more delicately as opposed to more overt organizations like the Kraken Coalition. Their reason for doing so is quite simple - they strive to have business dealings with as many entities within the criminal underworld, in an effort to serve as the unified means of buying and selling contraband across the galaxy via their highly encrypted black market system. While they are more than capable of acquiring their own ‘products’ to sell and earn money on their own, they readily pursue business dealings with other entities that would logically be their rivals.

GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: The nature of the Eidolon Crime Syndicate precludes it from having a centralized headquarters, but rumors abound of such planets as Coruscant, Savareen, Nar Shaddaa, and Dohlban.
  • Domain: As opposed to more overt organizations or sovereign entities, the syndicate actively avoids claiming official ‘dominion’ over any planet or region. Instead, they choose to rule from the shadows.
  • Notable Assets: While not confirmed, it is suspected that the Syndicate conducts business from a series of casinos, clubs, and cantinas spread throughout the galaxy. (Specific submissions pending)

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: The Eidolon Crime Syndicate operates similar to a ‘crime family’, wherein its divided into several key regional entities led by ‘Captains’, with loose affiliation to the central leadership. As long as the regional entities don’t make any overt waves, don’t hit against allied entities, make money, and send credits up to the central leadership - everything runs smoothly. The hierarchical structure is as follows:
    • Boss/Chairman: The head of the Eidolon Crime Syndicate. They make all final decisions governing the overall operations of the organization.
    • Consigliare/Counselor: Surrounding the ‘boss’ sit a group of senior leaders within the syndicate known as ‘Consigliares’ or ‘Counselors’. These individuals form a body that counsels and guides the boss. Their relationship is similar to a board of directors vs a CEO of a company. No one counselor has the influence or power to oppose the boss outright, but it would be truly foolish for the boss to oppose the collective mindset of a unified council. Each individual counselor oversees Syndicate operations within a region of star systems and sectors.
    • Captain: Captains are the ‘movers and shakers’ of Syndicate operations, handling the criminal activity over a dedicated star system or planet.
    • Gentleman/Lady: It may seem odd, but within Syndicate society, the base ‘member’ of the Syndicate is literally called either a ‘gentleman’ or ‘lady’. This underscores a simple fact easily inferred that only those who conduct themselves with a certain level of dignity, decorum, and nuance are considered as full members of the Syndicate. This does not mean that one must not be capable and unwilling to impose their will by force if necessary, but mindless thugs who resort to violence first and foremost will likely never be able to rise to this level of membership.
    • Associate: This role is given liberally to anyone who does anything in the service of the Syndicate with any real regularity. Associates are not considered full members of the Syndicate, but derive some elevated benefits given their proximity to the organization in general. Associates are given a measure of protection given their association, as well as active consideration of full membership based upon their value and perception to the Syndicate at large. Some associates may never become full members given their tendency to overt violence or other means of conducting business deemed as inappropriate for such a role, but that does not mean such associates do not have value to the organization. Chances are if you owe a debt to a Syndicate member, and have refused the more civilized methods of a gentleman or lady, it will be an associate who comes to ‘give you incentive’ to pay it back.
  • Membership: Estimates of current associates within the Eidolon Crime Syndicate range anywhere from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands, but there is no definitive number given the organization’s secrecy. One does not simply ‘join’ the Syndicate - the Syndicate recruits its members directly from the pool of associates who have distinguished themselves enough for consideration. When under consideration, prospective members are usually given a series of situations/tasks to handle. The means in which they handle those situations typically provide enough information to either cement their ascension to that of a gentleman or lady, or in a cessation of consideration entirely.
  • Climate: As mentioned before, the Syndicate operates very much like a crime family. Internally, the Syndicate treats their own with a high degree of reliance and comradery, like a family. Money flows freely, families are taken care of, and connections are leveraged to help with things both big and small. All of this does not dismiss the simple fact that this is still a criminal enterprise. Suspicion resides under the surface, with everyone subject to some amount of suspicion of collaboration with law enforcement. This sometimes leads to ‘unfortunate accidents’ happening to those with known connections to the Syndicate.
  • Reputation: Externally, while the Syndicate goes to great pains to maintain a low profile, those aware of their activities, or who possess any real idea of what they are about tend to view the organization with a heavy level of mistrust and apprehension (unless that person is a criminal hoping to join their ranks of course). To other criminal entities, there is likely a mixture of respect and jealousy, as often times the Syndicate strives to work in tandem with said entities; yet on other occasions, they will ruthlessly compete to rise to the top.
  • Curios: Given the secrecy and diversity in which the Syndicate operates, there is no singular object or trinket wielded by its members to identify who they are. Instead, the Syndicate heavily relies on a combination of ‘word of mouth’, references, and clandestine turns of phrase/actions which identify someone as a member of the Syndicate.
  • Rules: Unlike other criminal organizations, the Syndicate adopts a simple but heavily enforced code of conduct.
    • 1 - A full member of the Syndicate cannot raise a hand in violence to another full member of the Syndicate without proper cause or approval from ‘the administration’ (the administration is a broad term to refer to the command structure of the Syndicate). This policy extends to associates. Should an associate raise a hand to a full member of the Syndicate, that associate will be killed unless there are extenuating circumstances deemed appropriate by the administration.
    • 2 - You will not collaborate or cooperate with law enforcement under any circumstances.
    • 3 - You will kick up money to the administration from any hustle or business venture you engage in.
    • 4 - Syndicate business is Syndicate business. A member shall not speak about the Syndicate to non-Syndicate members. Associates are on a strict ‘need to know’ basis.
There are other rules and procedures, largely unspoken or passed on by word of mouth, but those three are universally well known and enforced with extreme prejudice.
  • Goals: The goals of the Eidolon Crime Syndicate are rather simple: make money, and don’t get caught doing it. In the short term, they wish to establish themselves and their black market enterprise amongst the major players within the underworld. In the long term, they wish to become a major player themselves within the underworld.

Historical Information

The Eidolon Crime Syndicate is a fairly new organization, borne from the remnants of the Hutt Republic by a former Vigo in service to Lortho and Paranoda the Hutt, known as Erich Kreutz. Erich has long sought to adapt and survive to the everchanging currents of the galaxy’s criminal underworld, and rather than attempt to establish yet another criminal enterprise solely focused on ‘stamping out rivals’ or ‘laying claim to territory’, he envisioned something different entirely.

His vision is an entity that can not only coexist with the existing powers that be, but to render his new organization indispensable to their day to day operations. He seeks to thrive, not just survive, and the upstart Syndicate moves to position itself to do just that. First, he sought to reintroduce himself to the criminal community via a private social affair to make his new plan a reality, and to strengthen the connections he has spent a long time cultivating.

Next, he set about applying his extensive skills in cybersecurity to establish the encrypted framework around the Eidolon Black Market portal within the dark reaches of the holonet. Those who know Erich know that he is just as driven as he is ruthless, and will stop at nothing to see his goals come to fruition.
