- [+] Augmented: The Ekdromoi are a small, elite team of soldiers that have undergone cybernetic and genetic alterations at the behest of Aegis Systems. Their raw strength, speed, and reaction times have been extensively augmented to the point where a single Ekdromos is more than a match for any regular soldier.
- [+] Bug Out: The Ekdromoi are experts in securing their charge and removing him from hostile situations. Typically deployed in teams of eight, four Ekdromos are tasked with providing personal protection to their charge whilst the other half of their squad is tasked with neutralizing or quelling all threats in the immediate area. To further facilitate their tactics, every Ekdromos is given an implant to bolster their piloting skills should they need to commandeer a vehicle or summon a gunship to extract their charge.
- [+] Rapid Response: Even when the CEO of Aegis Systems does not presently have the Ekdromoi in his presence, they are always ready to swoop in and get him out of danger. Be they posted in the next room or flying circles above the city in their gunship, all it takes is a simple command and they'll dive in to save his life.
- [-] Sustained Fighting: The Ekdromoi are not suited for long, drawn-out combat whatsoever. Securing their charge and bailing out of a deadly situation is their primary mission and everything else, including neutralizing the threat, comes second. Encircling or trapping the Ekdromoi is a tactic that can effectively be employed against them.
- [-] Divide and Conquer: As both fireteams of an Ekdromoi squad are tasked with seperate objectives, it's quite easy for a pincer-style movement to be set in place. Half of each Ekdromoi squad is charged with protecting their client whilst the other half sets itself on destroying all targets in the vicinity, which can be exploited by an observant operator.
A peaceful galaxy is just a galaxy recovering from its last war whilst the next simmers in the horizon. The increasingly tense state of the galaxy has prompted many officials and corporate executives to begin thinking about their own wellbeing, and Aegis Systems took their Chief Executive's concerns to heart. After voicing on numerous occasions, the intense situations he'd been placed in, Aegis Systems immediately began working on developing and manning an elite, protective detail to keep their ingenious executive safe and out of harm's way.
Enter the Ekdromoi. They are a team of well equipped and highly augmented ex-soldiers and mercenaries tasked with keeping their charge safe, secure, and out of danger no matter the cost. They are paid handsomely for their noble services and after afforded the best gear found on the more militant markets. In addition, every Ekdromos has undergone a series of cybernetic enhancements to further expand their skillsets and increase their overall combat effectiveness.
As far as their mission goes, it's fairly simple: keep Arken alive at all costs. Most Ekdromos are trained in emergency medical procedures and all have sworn to place at the forefront of any danger before Arken does. Squad tactics have been exemplified during their training and their typical operational procedure is to divide into two four-man fireteams each tasked with seperate objectives. The first fireteam takes personal care of Arken and removes him from the situation whilst the other team takes the fight to the enemy with extreme prejudice.
The unit culture of the Ekdromoi is similar to most tight-knit military units. Cohesion and teamwork are exemplified above all else, as is keeping each other alive on top of their charge. Many of them are close friends outside of work and heartily enjoy living fairly extravagant private lives owed to the handsome payment plan and benefits package afforded by Aegis Systems. Morale is fair. Some Ekdromos crave chances to prove themselves in battle whilst other members of the squads are happy with their often peaceful and routine duties.
