OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Born during the era that legends associate with Darth Krayt and the First Order, Master Tagru was already several centuries old when the Gulag Virus struck. He was one of the Jedi who attempted to keep the galaxy from sliding into insularity and paranoia, but without success. In 510ABY, on a mission to Dathomir, he finally contracted the Gulag Virus himself.
Master Tagru's Jedi powers proved insufficient to the task. Quarantined in an ancient Kwa ruin, he prepared for death while trying to silence the gnawing voice of his own doubts. In that ruin, the old visionary heard another voice, from another time. He clung to what he could glean through the Force, tatters of the distant past and future. The name Akala became his mantra. The dying Jedi Master gave in to the call of an aspect or flavor of the Dark Side whose existence he had never suspected. With the power that he learned, he saved his own life.
He settled down and waited for his god to re-emerge. In 837ABY, she did. The being now known only as the Elder became one of Akala's Kursed and walked the artificial planet Ash under the command of her General Kaa. The Elder joined Akala's grand armies willingly, the culmination of a centuries-old dream. When she and the planet Ash left the galaxy, the Elder was among the many servants who went along.
He returned in 844ABY as one of the servants bound up in the Netherworld Crisis. When Akala was rendered mortal and then killed, deep in the Maw, the Elder kept the faith. His leader and god might have been annihilated, but her ways had proven immeasurably powerful.
Over the next fifteen years, he devoted himself to collecting every remaining shred of relic and information pertaining to Akala. His ultimate goal was to resurrect her. He spread her worship and abilities cautiously, cultivating Dark Side acolytes who could learn to respect the path that he revealed a piece at a time. Various servants included Jahn Kerloth, Gryylarc, Darth Vocat, Azel Moran, Keirra, Anaximander, and Archer Ludwig, along with plenty of dedicated Akala cultists.
