The End of One Journey, the Beginning of Another

A large transport ship lands in the main port of Ossus. A young man with a single bag hanging from his right shoulder walks down the ramp and looks around. He breathes in deep, letting the fresh air fill his lungs after the long voyage in the stale air of the ship. While it is his first time stepping foot on Ossus, he nevertheless knows exactly which direction to head. He has a very limited knowledge and handle on the Force, but he knows enough to follow it when it guides him.

He slowly makes his way through the city, feeling more familiar with this new planet with every step he takes. The path comes to him as if he had walked it thousands of times before. He does not even think about where he is going, he just walks to his destination. Before long he sees the Jedi Temple in the distance, and his pace quickens in anticipation. The beauty and size of the Temple becomes more evident the closer he gets. He stops just outside of it to bask in its beauty and majesty. It is everything he imagined it would be and so much more.

As the sun rises slightly in the mid-morning sky, Gueer Halek realizes he has been standing there looking at the Temple for nearly an hour. He begins to walk inside, still following the guiding path of the Force. He comes to a courtyard and stops, setting his bag down and taking a seat on the ground. He closes his eyes and listens to his feelings; this is where he is supposed to be. This is where his new journey shall begin. He starts to meditate as he waits for someone to come to the courtyard. He is ready to meet his first Jedi Master....

There was little movement in the wind today. Mantic had just finished going over the myriad of statues in the entrance. Each and one of them resembling grand masters of old. Each era telling of different fests overcome by the order. Some telling of mistakes, other of victories. Many merely a reminder of what the jedi sttod for.

and still does Manyic declared to himself as he finally ventured outside for a brief pause.
He noticed the new visitor and looked around.
There was no one there to greet him. Sadly, few realized how spread thin the jedi order had become. With the constant warfare few masters had the time to attend the temple guests. Mantic himself had been forced to manage on his own when he had arrived.

The visitor eminated something. Mantic could sense it. The force was there. While unable to determine more then that it seemingly was an uncontrolled, yet balanced nature of it, it was still enough to be sensed by Mantic.

Moving up to him Mantic inclined his head and tried a smile.

"Welcome to the jedi temple citizen. how may the order assist you?" he inquired with a low neutral voice.

Gueer's eyes opened as the voice broke his meditation. He had been so consumed with the sensations of the Jedi Temple that he had not sensed another approaching him. But now that his gaze fixed upon Mantic Dorn, he could sense him within the Force. While still very much a novice in the Force, Gueer could sense the trustworthiness of the man before him. He knew this man was a Jedi.

"I am here because I wish to become a Jedi and I need guidance and training" said Gueer as he smiled back.

[member="Mantic Dorn"]

Such calm, such balance. Mantic felt inspiration from this new aspiring talent. But he was old. It was unusual for the jedi to accept fully grown. It happened but was unusual.

"I am afraid I am in no position to make you a jedi." he started.

"I am but a padawan, a jedi not allowed to tutor others as of yet." Mantic fully realized the danger that was hidden within trying to teach others before he was deemed ready. Something only the council could decide.

"But I will show you to someone who might be able to decide on on your entrance to the order."

"I am padawan Dorn. May I have your name?"

Gueer could tell Mantic was young, likely younger than himself. He knew the Jedi normally took children at a young age to begin training. He could only hope that he was not deemed to old to embark on the path of the Jedi. He rose to his feet and extended his hand to the Jedi Padawan.

"I am Gueer Halek, of Denon. It is a pleasure to meet you Padawan Dorn, lead the way" said Gueer as the two shook hands.

Mantic fixed his eyes with [member="Gueer Halek"] and made sure the man felt comfortable before continuing.

"I trained at an academy myself before arriving to the temple. Have you recieved any instructions or training as of yet?" he questioned while he started to move toward the temple.

They passed the main hallway, eyes of the old masters following them as they made their way through the temple.

"Regardless, I can only advice you to be patient and even though you might be accepted there is still much you would not expect."

Mantic stopped inside what appeared to be some sort of waiting room. He motioned toward a seat.

Mantic turned to the receptionist.
"Please check if any of the masters are availible. Let the first one know that a new prospect is awaiting admittance to the order."

Then he shifted toward the guest and possibly future jedi brother.

"While we wait. Do you have any questions?" he asked.

As they stood in the room together, Gueer looked around.

"I have received no formal training of any kind. I realized I was Force Sensitive at a young age and would practice in secret. I have been able to teach myself a few powers through books and personal accounts, though I am far from proficient at using the Force. How old were you when you began training?" asked Gueer, anxious to learn more about the Jedi ways and his new acquaintance.

Mantic nodded. It was not uncommon for children to be missed by the jedi order these days. He had read that in the old days the order had time and reasources to find almost all children with the gift. They had time and the organisation to find them and train them in time, to sweep away all the dangerous emotions that otherwise so often took hold of them.

A child with special gifts, was either easily a target for brutal teasing or turning into the bully himself.
Training and awarness kept them from it. The galaxy had been a better place because of it.

But, now the galaxy was in a turmoil, dark shadows looming from every corner and even jedi breaking free from the order, from the code, justifying their means, with ideas like, fight fire with fire. A sad and most often disastrous idea that lead to so much more suffering.

But there were adults who managed to stay true.

"I was found and brought to a jedi school at the age of five." he replied.

"I lived at the academy until I became adult and found my first master later then most." Mantic explained, a tint of sadness hidden inside the notion. He sometime felt guilt for not following his masters footsteps at times. But he knew that the republic was hic home. The cause he needed to stay true to the code.

"Alas, these days masters of the jedi order are a rare sight. You are lucky if anyone finds and decided to take you in. But then, since you are already adult I belive it is important that someone do take that mantle. The force is so much more complex then one might imagine." he continued trying not to sound to disencouraging.

Gueer nodded his head, sensing a certain sadness in his new friend. It was obvious he cared deeply about the Jedi Order. However, he was also realistic about the challenges the Jedi now faced. Had Gueer not kept his Force Sensitivity a secret, perhaps he would have been discovered at a young age as well. But he had needed to carve his path, he was a better person now for having experienced his time in the Galaxy. He could only hope that it was not too late; that he was not too old to be molded into a Jedi. Surely the little experience he had with the Force would count for something.

"I heard talk of the state of the Jedi Order in my travels, I did not realize how dire things had become. I know that most Jedi begin training at a very young age and that the Order prefers not to begin training after a certain age. I am hoping I may be an exception....it sounds like the Order needs all the help it can get. I'd like to help not only the Jedi Order, but the Galaxy as well" said Gueer as the two continued to wait for a Jedi Master to arrive.

Mantic folded his hands as he listened with sincere interest. He did not normaly greet new comers but for what it was worth it felt good to serve in this way.

"You did right to come here. It has become very common for force sensitive to embarge on their personal crusades to cleanse the galaxy. I guess the idea is not as alien as one might think. But it only solves the problem on short term before they themselves become the problem."

Mantic shifted foot, they were talking in a manner that might require a more seasoned ranking jedi. But until one showed up Mantic did try his wings somewhat.

"The restraints we put on ourselves within the order the only known way to ensure a long lived stability. All other options has only fueled suffering and demise in the long run. It is a lesson told by our history that too few heeds."

"In times of darkness it is simply easier to disregard such notions and trick one self that there is control over ones actions." he wet his lips tasting his words.

"To be a true jedi, is to be a servant of the code, not master it, do not be to eager to head out in the fray before you are ready to handle the lure." he bit his lips, was he crossing a line here.

He turned his head looking through the hallways. Was not someone going to come soon?
