Cabinet meetings in the days following the unfortunate turn of events in the baptism of her youngest nieces and nephew had a sharp focus on reassessing, tightening, and strengthening the security measures of the Kingdom, particularly around her Queen, and this was mirrored within her own House, in considering additions to the infrastructure of Evenfall, further training of their forces, and more besides. Feeling responsible, her own head of security had tendered his resignation, just short of a year prior to his intended retirement, but not without agreement to help her vet his replacement, which was now going to have to happen sooner than originally planned. Ilamar Hend had served long and well, these thirty years - the entirety of Alora's life, thus far - and it was only her attachment to the few familiar remains of her life preceding all that was thrust upon her just in the past year that made her even consider trying to talk him out of it, but she would never want to tarnish his honour. So much to think about, but this wasn't the most pressing thing in the present moment.
Her arms crossed, legs also, Alora sat behind the large desk of the Governor's office, filing those thoughts away, while awaiting a meeting that was a long time coming, with the very individual whose presence in her home and relationship with the eldest of her siblings had drawn the societal scrutiny and gossip down upon her House. It was either a test for her, or a headache. And then there was Caius Bardot ... but that was another subject entirely. It could never be just one thing at a time. She unloaded a heavy sigh, separating her arms to have fingers rub at her temples, but this was short-lived, the comm crackling, preceding her assistant's voice.
"Ma'am, your 1730 is here."
Alora straightened herself up in her seat, glancing toward a full-length mirror to one side of her desk, to deal with any errand strands of her dark locks. Then she rose from her seat and pushed to talk on her end of the comm.
"Send him in, please, Ralli."
She released the button, with a 'Yes, Ma'am' coming through a moment later, from Rallisa. Choosing to do this in the office was a decision that came down to privacy. There were too many ears at Evenfall, not that she wished to keep this discussion within the walls of this room - Baros would doubtless carry the entire thing back to Teyla - but she wished to be clear, to work out an understanding.
She was just keeping the happiness and well-being of her family in mind and heart...
