The Flight Of The Valkyri [Kei Raxis]

SRPNG.png
This was not the first time visiting Kashyyyk, nor the second, it was the third and this time he had come to stay. His time with the Iron Empire was over, and it was due time to return to the Jedi of the Silver Order. It was strange returning to them here and not on Voss. After all he knew Voss very well, better than most probably, since he had spent the majority of his childhood there and studied to become a Jedi at the Voss Academy. He was also a child of Midvinter and both place had informed him and influenced him to become the man he is today. Although still a fair distance from Midvinter, Kashyyyk was closer and he would have the ability to travel between the two more regularly.

Kashyyyk had always been a picture to see when descending from the skies, today was no different. Crisp blue sky fell upon the landscape of green, lush and thick and filled with a teeming life force, the blue meandering rivers that flowed between mountains just made it perfection and in the distance he could see the towers of the Silver Temple, his destination. Once clearance to land was received, "Please inform the Silver Temple of my arrival". And soon the Tarly touched down on the landing platform.

What progress they had made since his last visit, in which the Silver Temple was begin reconstructed and some parts of it he recognised from Voss which was good to see. Grand Master [member="Valae Kitra"] had remained true to her word and made sure that their heritage would not be forgot, Val is and always will be a woman of her word. And it will be good to see her again.

But first he needed to find his way around and somewhere to call his own until he would establish [member="Boo Heavenshield"] and himself in a home away from home in the tree tops. There would be no outward sign of his Midvinter attire nor that of a Jedi save for his lightsaber, but rather simple clothes of a white shirt un-tucked over tan trousers and a pair of light boots. But even still Theo felt the heat and humidity instantly the ramp lowered to the platform. Already the landing crew were busy with his ship and he gave them a grateful nod as he began to stride across the platform to find some sort of transport to the Temple.

The Silver Jedi didn't have great air traffic control.

Sure, they'd make sure you didn't plow headfirst into a tree but they weren't the most organised folks. They chose to send a young padawan running towards the temple to pass the message of the arrival of the ship known as The Tarly when a comlink communication would of been much easier. Sure, it taught the padawans what it felt like to run large distances but it wasn't the most efficient means of communication.

The padawan basically sprinted into the temple, sweat dripping down his face. He knew his mission, find a Jedi who could collect their visitors and welcome them properly to The Silver Jedi Temple in the trees, welcome them properly to Kashyyyk. The padawan would walk from corridor to corridor, room to room looking for anyone who didn't seem busy with their work. Then it occured to him, the training room.

Kei hardly ever visited the training room. He hardly ever had chance to. Training for him seemed to always happen on the field, in battle against live targets who actually went out of their way to come up with inventive ways to try and kill him. It had been too long since Kei had stood opposite a droid and simply deflected it's blaster fire back at it, using the force to feel the location of every shot fired at him.

The padawan walked in softly, standing in the corner while Kei deflected yet another shot. Kei felt him enter, he felt his every movement. It was moments when he was attuned to the force that he felt most things. He didn't have a strong force attunement, not at all. What he did have was time, what he did have was practice. Every moment he had spare, he meditated to try and build on the force and take his very little and make it something.

Kei's orange blade shot down into it's hilt with a little noise. The droid floated away, probably back to a cubard or to shoot an unsuspecting padawan from behind. The older knight opened his eyes, turning to face the young padawan slowly. The padawan quickly gave the message that a ship was arriving soon. Apparently the records of the ship showed that it belonged to one Theodred Heavenshield, one Jedi Master Theodred Heavensheild.

Kei knew the name. Many did, son of the former grandmaster Thurion Heavenshield and son of a respected Jedi Master Coci Heavenshield. Kei had last heard that Theodred was working alongside The Iron Empire and so he wondered what had driven the boy to return. He assumed that the child of the former grandmaster would have an emotional connection to The Silver Jedi Order but he wasn't sure.

He left the padawan to collect some water and rest.

The Jedi Knight made his way to the landspeeders that were stored within the temple. Kei was aware that they would be useless amunst the trees but to shuttle a respected Jedi Master from a hanger? They were absolutely perfect, even containing luggage room. Kei spent a while trying to find a colour he really liked before he settled on an orange speeder, something simple but big enough to carry luggage, two Jedi and have room to spare.

It had been a while since Kei had last driven a landspeeder. It was like a fighter but with less controls and more rules that needed to be followed. He managed to find the gear shifter easy enough, calibrate the seat to fit his below average frame and then he was off. He wasn't overly happy with being short, he knew the issues of using rented things. Many were designed for species nearly two or three feet taller than Kei.

He was below average.

He was tiny compared to some species. It was incredble, some species were like seven or eight foot and Kei was just a measly five foot something. He hadn't measured himself for a while but he assumed he hadn't grown all that much. It was a fair assumption, many humanoid species stopped growing around twenty or so, Kei was a large mile over twenty. Twenty eight, he had been for a few days now and it hadn't quite set in.

He was old.

He grinned to himself as he pulled up next to the hanger. He watched as the pilot delicately brought the ship down for a gentle, graceful landing. Kei was impressed, normally he was the better pilot but he'd just been shown up. He made a mental note to congratulate the pilot as he climbed from the speeder, standing next to it with his arms crossed. He debated for a moment writing a sign that had Theodred's name on it but assumed that Theodred would work it out.

He was right. He watched as the Jedi Master walked over to him slowly. Kei bowed before him, lightsaber giving a little rattle at his side. There was no real markings on him of a Jedi, no robes. Instead he donned his basic gear, tunic and trousers with his leather jacket overtop. He was getting used to the robes, used to acting and fitting in like a Jedi. He still only wore the robes when he was actually expected to do Jedi things though.

The casual clothes were so much more comfy. It appeared Theodred thought the same, shirt and trousers. Who needed robes anyway?

"Master Jedi. Your reputation proceedes you"

Never assume anything, a lesson learned long ago. Beside that, it had been many years since Theo had seen the sight of Jedi in robes, the traditional style at least, and so he wasn't really looking for anyone in them. He didn't have too, the strength through the force of the man standing by a speeder was enough of a tell tale and someone close to his own age although it was difficult to put a name to the face. If they had met, it would have been many years ago. Theo returned to bow offered, always did in the presences of Jedi, he always would receive a mental clip over the back of his head by his mother if he had not. But that as far as decorum went.

"Any longer in this heat and it will not be my reputation that proceeds me", he said with a grin, stretching out to shake the man's hand. Lord, this was the first time he had been called by that title. He almost turned to see if his father was behind him. "Theo Heavenshield at your service, just call me Theo", he added throwing his bag in the back of the transport. "What shall I call you?".

The Knight of the Silver Order was not a giant of a man, Theo towering over him as they stood talking, but again never assume anything. He had a feeling this man would pack a powerful punch when required. He was unassuming in looks, nothing to give away any standing in rank or even in countenance, but there was a gentleness around him, or maybe he just kept his emotions in check or rather close to his chest. Well there was no point trying to second guess the man, lets get to know him better.

"So how long have you been with the Silvers?". He asked using the old familiar name for them, as he decided to pile into the passenger seat.

The man was taller than he expected.

Then again, Kei was aware that everyone was taller than he expected. He wasn't actually able to have high expectations. He grinned to himself, taking the hand of Theodred, shaking it slowly. Theodred had worked up a reputation amungst the Silver Jedi, son of the former Grandmaster and a fearless Jedi Master, fearless Jedi Protector. Theodred was a great Jedi Master, a storied Jedi Protector.

Kei nodded as Theodred told him the nickname he wished to be called by. Kei was happy to give him that right, he was allowed to be called whatever he wished. Kei would never deny anyone the right to be called whatever they wished. Theodred could of walked around calling himself "Sammy Pig" and Kei would of happily walked around calling him "Sammy Pig" with no issue. It was how it worked, it was polite.

"Name's Kei. Kei Raxis, Jedi Knight if we're going for specifics"

He grinned as he climbed into the drivers seat of the landspeeder. He slowly edged away, attempting not to stall the landspeeder and make himself look like an utter idiot. They pulled away with ease, heading towards the temple and in turn the guest quarters. Once Theodred was set up in a room, they would see about trying to move him to a more permenant lodging, a decent room in the temple.

"How long have I been in the Silver Order, huh? I originally worked with the Order during The Battle of Korriban but I was caught in the orbital bombardment. I sort of got back about...four months ago?"

Nothing caught the attention of the Silver Jedi as much as a One Sith vessel reverted back to normal space-time in the heart of their space.

It had not been used as a One Sith vessel for some time now, but the fact remained that the silhouette cast by the star courier immediately called to mind the familiar geometry of Imperial TIE fighters. As a ship of deception, it could appear to be many things. The Moldy Mynock out of Cyrillia, for example. Or, The Pearl of Yavin, if one preferred a ship registered out of Sanctuary.

It was neither, of course. It was The Equinox, a ship registered out of Coruscant during the time in which the Dark Lord of the Sith had reigned in galaxy-wide terror. After the fall of the One Sith, the vessel had fallen into the hands of the Primeval. It was the personal transport of one of the Primeval exemplars -- the masters of espionage and assassination that had worked in shadows to carry out the orders of the Host Lord.

Orders that had included infiltrating the Levantine Sanctum and the Order of the Silver Jedi.

A task for which the young Pantoran had been only too successful at.

With the relocation of their household from Ilum to Kashyyyk, the Tarly was not the only ship that needed to be migrated down from Iron Empire space. So the Sith courier arrived just shortly behind Théo's vessel. It's unmasked visage attracting attention even as it merited a wide berth, moving through Jedi space toward the forest world.

The ship descended through the clouds, it's landing trajectory ferrying the sleek transport to the same landing pad as held the Tarly. As the vessel made it's final approach for the landing, the wings folded down.

The loading ramp lowered down onto the landing, permitting a young boy to disembark. The blue-skinned youth's appearance bringing with it an ill wind. The Dark Side of the Force radiated from his deceptively small frame, the product of the Tarentatek venom that ran in his veins. He wore a a youngling tunic that was snow white, contrasting the bright hues of blue, violet, and yellow that adorned his Pantoran features.

Twin serpents encircled him. One, a weapon of the Yuuzhan Vong, and the other a pet. Yellow eyes scanned the landing pad, the youngling moving toward where a familiar figure stood in conversation with another man.

The faint scent of blood seemed to follow him, as the violet-haired youth casually walked up beside Théo as the two men had their conversation.

They all live in a galaxy that sees time warp, the once friends now father and son and now this Knight of the Silvers spoke of a period in time, a harsh history for the Silver Jedi in that of Korriban. Theo had been just a young boy not much older than Boo is now when that happened. Genetics he supposed, as Theo had grown at such an alarming rate to manhood. You have to on Midvinter in order to survive the conditions, survival of the fittest? Never had that phrase been true.

"Then you have been with the Silvers some time ago, it is a wonder our paths did not cross". It was indeed but at that time Theo had been on Midvinter, and struggled through events there that saw the death of his grandpapa and after that, his self imposed exile. Now he realised he had been away from the Jedi far longer. "Kei huh? short neat name, I like it", a large hand thumped the man's shoulders in a familiar friendly gesture.

The presence of Boo tickled at his aura and Theo turned to see his son stride up to them. "Kei, this is my boy, my son Boo, Boo Heavenshield", he said proudly as he placed his arm around Boo's shoulder drawing him in for a hug and placed a fatherly kiss on the top of his head. "You were late arriving, you had me worried", he said in a whisper, before releasing Boo to stand on his own two feet.

"You said you only got back a few months ago?", This gave Theo some heart in the fact another had recently returned to them, although he did not want to pry too much into the man's past, especially if that past was painful but, when is it not? There was never going to be a good reason for Jedi leaving the Order. Lord knows he had seen that happen before this day. Some of the finest Jedi had gone about as bad as one could go and would never return to the bosom of the light.

Kei slowly looked towards the child.

The child stank of the darkside, but Kei refused to question it. The child was free to follow his own beliefs, perhaps it was why the child followed Theodred. There was no way that the child, Boo, was a child bred by Theodred due to the species difference. However, it was completely possible that the child, the boy was an adopted child of Theodred, one Theodred had adopted to show the way of the light to.

The land speeder set off, heading towards the temple.

"I was caught in the bombing of Korriban. It dimished any faith I had in the order so I chose to carve my own path through the galaxy. I recently returned after the galaxy was plunged into the war, I figure there was no-where safer than The Silver Jedi. Originally, I had plans to bring a prisoner and then leave but it never happened, I never left in the end. I'd rather be safe and alive than out there"

He looked at Theodred and Boo, shrugging,

"What brings you two back?"
