The Flooded Sanctum
Amidst the cluster of worlds in the Grumani Sector that were once enthralled under a long dead sect of the Sith, one in particular has become the topic of much discussion as of late. Darkknell, once the host to a mighty battle in the distant past, has been covered by archaeological dig sites and expeditions since the Sith Order laid claim to it. Eager adventurers and scheming lords alike have intended to unearth the long lost secrets and relics of Sith long past, yet one digsite has risen to eclipse all the rest.
The Sanctum Celestial once stood as the proud fortress of Darkknell’s capital city, Xakrea, yet both time and war have submerged and reduced much of the mighty fortress into rubble and ruin. Although the grand fortress was tempting to uncover, thus far little of value had been unearthed aside from the structure itself.
Until now.
A week ago a vault was discovered among the rubble that encompasses much of the Sanctum, far newer than the fortress and bearing sigils belonging to the Sepulchral priests. However despite numerous attempts at opening the great door that seals the vault, no entry has been made and not even the modern Sepulchral priests seem to be able to open it. As such the Emperor of the Sith, Darth Empyrean, and a respectable force of Sith, soldiers, and researchers alike have gathered to investigate and finally unveil the secrets of the vault.
Great siege cannons are brought to blow down the sealed doors that hide the contents of the vault, and after nearly two days of constant fire, have finally cracked open the vault. What greeted them was a seemingly empty hall, a grand pillared entrance to greet the invaders. However, what lies within may not be as dormant and abandoned as initially thought. The moment that the great vault was broken open and the entrance revealed, alarms and the distant sounds of marching greeted the ears of all present. The researchers have fallen back as the Sith and legions ready themselves to push deeper into the vault, regardless of what may attempt to halt them.
Objective 1: Battering Ram
Although the initial breach into the vault has been made there are many other grand gates and doors that barr our passage forward. The siege cannons have been moved into position to tear them down but already the first of the mysterious defenders have arrived to assault them.
Ancient war droids and freshly-unfrozen Sith guardians have begun pouring into the entry hall with no regard for their own lives. They seek only to slay our forces and stop our incursion by destroying the cannons. This cannot be allowed, defend the cannons and put down all maddened Sith and archaic droids that attempt to destroy them.
Objective 2: Halt the Hordes
More and more of the vault’s defenders awaken with each moment that passes by, all of which rush to meet our forces at the entrance without hesitation. Lining the walls are various passages and corridors which allow them entry but are too small for a concentrated counter attack, especially with the wakened guardians bearing down on the cannons.
Whether by collapsing these entrances or barricading them with the bodies of fallen guardians, these ratholes must be filled before we are surrounded and overwhelmed.
Objective 3: BYOO
Numerous passages and corridors that can only fit one or two individuals at a time line the entrance hall, allowing for those quick enough to slip by the fighting and explore the vault on their own.
Relics, artifacts, and ancient yet dangerous equipment lay within the stores and warehouses of the vault and if one is daring enough they can swipe whatever they please before the main forces of the Sith arrive in full. But do beware, traps and guardians alike will stand between any invader and their desires.
