The Forging

The servants had know to keep the area neat and clean for when Darth Raven would arrive with her new apprentice [member="Varen Laurentiis"] . The training room where she always brought her newest recruits was made all the more ready for this new one's arrival into the Sith. The room itself was basically like an obstacle course, with high areas to jump, droids that would fire stun blasts and even a moat-like area with swinging blunt bags to knock anyone off if they did not traverse in the correct manner. A servant came to Varen's quarters to inform him to meet with Raven within the room itself.
She was there with her sithspawn Sebastian. The great beast was gnawing on a large bone with bits of flesh left on it. Given the size it was hard to tell where it came from but it was clear it was small enough to be human. Raven herself just stood and waited, looking over the room with an almost bemused complexion. The time had come to put her new apprentice through the first tests.

He was mildly displeased when the servant entered, bringing Varen from his meditation. He was sitting on the ground making a few books and tools float around him. He rose and told the servant to wait outside for him while he prepared. He changed into his robes. The basic clothes he wore we completely black and unadorned. They were loose enough to allow free movement. He put his long blonde hair into a braid and grabbed his bo staff, just in case [member="Darth Raven"] had any surprises. He hooked it on his belt as he walked out the door.

It was a quick jaunt down to the lower levels. The servant opened the door and stepped to the side. Varen walked in. It was a massive room. He looked at all the various mechanisms in the room before seeing the massive Sebastian gnawing on a bone of questionable origin. He saw his master, staring at the course. Varen moved up next to her and bowed slightly, "Good morning master, I see we have a long day ahead of us."

Turning to him she said "I believe the correct tense is 'you' have a long day ahead. I've run this course enough time before I was knighted as a true Sith, and so will you." She walked towards the start of the course while saying "This very obstacle course is deigned to test you in the basics. Force jumping. Sensing things. Speed. Everything anyone will every need in combat." She turned back to him and asked "By the way, how is your self-training going? I could sense you were meditating when I sent the messenger off to find you." She waited for his response before saying "You'll start here and work your way to the end. If you fail you start right back fro the beginning." She then used the force to bring his bo-staff to her hand before adding "And you won't be using this. Not yet at least."
[member="Varen Laurentiis"]

He chuckled at his masters correction. "Yes indeed master, I believe though that you and Sebastian may grow weary of my efforts." He followed her to the start of the course and looked at what lay ahead as she spoke. When she inquired to him his eye brows furled in irritation, "Its going along, I can levitate things for hours but I have to greatly focus to get them to move for more than a few minutes." He looked back to the course as she talked about the course again. He was still not exactly use to having the force applied to him as [member="Darth Raven"] yanked his bo away. He made a small frown, "Very well master, mind giving me a quick run down of the course then?"

At least [member="Varen Laurentiis"] was being agreeable. Raven had to give him credit there. She kept the bo staff behind her as she explained the course. "First you'll run all the way to the end of the track and then try to make your way up the other side of the wall. It's five yeards and then a good 15 feet up. From there you'll land and continue into the danger area where you'll need to avoid fire from the battle droids. All have their blasters on stun. After that you'll need to make your way over the small drop with only a handful of stable platforms to walk on. Doing that while avoiding the bags that will be swinging constantly. Finally a last jaunt of five more yards and then you're done." She stood back, ready to snap her fingers, before adding "Oh, and there's a time limit. Five minutes." With that she finally snapped them, indicating he would start.

Varen cursed mildly under his breath as [member="Darth Raven"] snapped her fingers. He bolted down the track, the wall looming over him a good 10 feet over his head. He attempted a sort of run up the wall and only made it maybe 3 feet before he fell to the ground. He didn't wait for his masters criticism before walking back to the start line and saying, "Again," as he sprinted back down the track

Not even over the all and already he was slipping. Raven of course gave a disappointing sigh before he came back to the start and insisted. She snapped her fingers and allowed him to run yet again. He needed to let his emotions fuel him as before. He needed that rage, that want, that desire to succeed to be the thing that pushed him forward and off the ground. She hoped he understood because the rest of the course would not be as forgiving in the sense of what would happen if he failed. And no matter how long it took she would wait here until [member="Varen Laurentiis"] completed the course at least once.
