Faction The Formation of the Legions

Location: Maldra IV
Drydic tried to hide his excitement at what would unfold today, finally after years of waiting his opportunity for something greater has arrived. As the wind blew his white and black uniform rustled, and fog could be seen on the hills nearby slowly approaching.

Drydic stood on the central platform of the small transport area, with multiple landing pads in front of him, and his own shuttle on one of these platforms. A handful of engineers scurried around tending to his ship, as well as hudling under the covered areas, wating for the other craft to land.

The outpost in which he chose was out of the way, secluded, perfect for this sort of meeting. This area was also without any enforcement of law, allowing him to seize the establishment from its poor owner. The old man, as well as his few patrons had little to use against Drydic when he arrived. Ordering the takeover almost made Drydic feel bad. Almost. His opinion changed when reminded what this place would serve as, what this place would be the birthplace of.

As Drydic waited for the others to arrive he glanced at his gaurds, a large part of his Immortal Scourge, as they stood surrounding the compound and watching from the doors. They were his pride and joy, as well as the few people he could count on to watch his back. There are less and less people to trust these days, especially on the edges of the galaxy.

Now as Drydic checked the time, he realized if the other members of the meeting didn't arrive soon then they would be late. This handful of military men could make Drydic's career, the prospect of uniting thousands of soldiers under different banners into one made him very pleased. However he had to move carefully, there were many egos and personalities, that if clashed would bring everything to ruins. This was the main reason why he has to bring a show of force to this meeting, his elite guards as well as the other companies and regiments of troops he has in the nearby systems. This was to secure his spot in the future.

It seemed his trips to the Outer Rim would never cease. Once he had come back from Eriadu, he had assumed the Inspectorate would handle matters in the Outer Rim, and he would focus back on important things happening in the Core. But, alas, there were always new warlords to sway to the cause of the Empire. Proxy governments to fund, rebellion movements to arm... The Moff was now becoming an expert in convincing individuals to a cause, and he knew how the Empire could benefit from this situation.

One might have thought Julius was travelling far and wide in order to meet new individuals, or perhaps to discover new worlds; he could have been doing it for the sake of promoting order and security, hoping the lawlessness of these regions would end under favourable governments. Truthfully, however, the diplomat was not doing it out of pure generosity. With the Cold War now a very serious threat to the Empire, every resource that could be pulled to strangle the Alliance was welcome. Plus... Julius's secret Great Game.

He read the list of attendants with quite some curiosity, as he was not sure what Maxim intended to do. He assumed he was trying to form his own confederation of warlords and had invited future warlords to the meeting. He recognised at least one name but was pretty sure the other persons would mean something to him. Since the first trips he had made to the Outer Rim, he had become acquainted with a number of names. Organisations, companies, governments... All of these were now things he could remember quite well.

As his shuttle made its way to the ground of the planet, he wondered if there would be any agents sent by the Final Dawn. Even after the showdown on Eriadu, it was likely Sularen would persevere in his efforts to bring more and more worlds to his sphere of influence. It was, after all, what he had been doing since Julius had taken diplomatic affairs into his own hands. And, from the few times Sularen and Haskler had actually met in person, it seemed to match the warlord's character, relentlessly pursuing some kind of global dominance goal over the galaxy.

With the matter at hand, however, it was paramount that the Moff could establish formal relationships between the Empire and the Legions. Given how close they were from Imperial space, Julius could not satisfy himself with a mere draw, and would certainly not accept a failure in keeping this warlord state on the good side of things with the Empire.

Disembarking from his personal craft, the diplomat walked to Maxim, formally saluting him, as he noticed the important number of troops gathered to watch the meeting. It was as worrying as it was reassuring. It meant Maxim feared something might happen during the meeting, but it also insisted on who the leader was going to be this time around. No pointless bickering. But at the same time, the very small detachment of TodHusars he had brought were useless if the warlord tried to claim his life.

"Lord Maxim, the diplomat started, it is an honour, having been invited to watch the formation of yet another spot of order and security in this troubled galaxy. In the Empire's stead, I bring hopes of peace and a hand open for help, if you ever needed the friendship of my own nation to grow and prosper."

Justin hadn't left his palace in what seemed like forever. He hadn't left his planet in even longer. Today would be the beginning of a new conquest and it was a giant breath of fresh air to him, even if the air in his shuttle was stale and reused. Justinian was a massive success but his takeover was several years ago, and now it felt...ordinary. Repeating his fraudulent scheme on the planet's economy year after year was growing boring to him. He was rich and getting richer. Why not use that wealth to grow his power?

That was precisely what he planned to do today. The planet named after himself had a recovering economy when he took it over. Now there was talk of a confederation of military men and planetary leaders in the so called Scar-Worlds, still recovering from the Bryn'adul scourge years ago. It was the perfect opportunity to use his economic expertise and smooth tongue to snatch a foothold in the wildlands of the galaxy.

He expected the others to primarily be military men, which would give him a quick path to power in the case that they would need economic support, logistics aid, so on and so forth. An army marches on its' stomach after all, and a lack of funds could bring down the strongest of governments, and his family, estranged, had their Logistics Consulting Firm. Logistics came naturally to his family.

Indeed, his path to glory was set, as long as other members of this confederation stay out of his way....

FINAL DAWN
MALDRA IV, OUTER RIM TERRITORIES

When the Confederacy of Independent Systems first collapsed, the Final Dawn was the first to take advantage moving into the Outer Rim to secure new allies and expand it's influence across the region, however since then a myriad of new foes had emerged complicating the Final Dawn's ultimate mission of strengthening their presence in the Outer Rim and former Confederacy, and the establishment of a "support network" of Allies and Proxies that could collectively strengthen the Final Dawn's War Machine and increase it's chances of successfully defeating the Alliance. However once more various obstacles had presented themselves posing themselves as threats to the Final Dawn's ambitions, first it was the Rimward Trade League and their Marque and Reprisal Letter, then it was Vandar Tarkin and his defiance towards the Final Dawn and finally the Maw itself with the Wrath of the Maw, Kyrel Ren constantly interfering with the assets and operations of the Final Dawn.

With much of it's resources diverted to the ongoing war with the Galactic Alliance, the Final Dawn had to employ more unorthodox tactics to deal with these threats, and that's where Dorian Sevenar came in. As the head of the Final Dawn's Intelligence Agency, the Politorate he had established a vast spy network across the galaxy, with operatives operating in Fondor, Seswenna and as far as within the Hutt Space Consortium. The Politorate was always carefully searching for any new opportunities for the Final Dawn and to this day, nations like the Galactic Alliance and the New Imperial Order remained oblivious to it's existence. As such when word spread of the emergence of a new warlord on the world of Maldra IV, the Politorate was quick to find out and as such, Sevenar had decided to personally attend the summit being held by said Warlord to investigate further, perhaps he could be what the Final Dawn needed to counter Tarkin and his lackys in the Outer Rim.

As such the
FDS Hand of Judgement, the flagship of Dorian Sevenar, emerged from hyperspace arriving in orbit of Maldra IV. Given the planet's proximity to the Empire it was certain that Moff Julius Haskler, a man who had proven himself to be a thorn on the Final Dawn's side, would be present. However while Haskler had been able to get the upper hand in the Outer Rim, what he lacked as ability to manipulate events through subterfuge and manipulation, something in which the Politorate specialized. But most importantly, what Haskler did not know was that the Final Dawn always adapted to new situations when needed and as such would change their strategies accordingly in order to reach their desired end result. Haskler may had won a battle at the Eriadu Summit but he had yet to win the War.

Soon enough a single Final Dawn
Sith Infltration Shuttle would emerge from the ventral hangars of the Final Dawn Battlecruiser escorted by a small group of TIE/fd Fighters as it headed towards the surface of Maldra IV eventually coming to rest at a landing pad not so far from where Haskler's Shuttle had landed. From that Shuttle, the Director-Admiral would emerge wearing his usual White Imperial Uniform along with his White Cape, and escorted by a Squad of Final Dawn Elite Raptor Commandos. Sevenar was set to succeed where Sularen failed, and ensure that the Final Dawn's plans in the Outer Rim would succeed one way or another, just as the High Regent intended. All he needed to do was to outmaneuver the obstacle that was Julius Haskler and his lackys and ensure that they could not interfere with his plans

Drydic watched as one by one, the shuttles of the attendees approached and landed. Then each of the craft opened to reveal their occupants.

The first was a Moff of the Empire, Haskler, someone active in the Outer Rim and someone to have good relations with. The Moff approached and saluted Drydic before glancing to his detachment of the Immortal Scourge. After Julius gave his introduction Drydic nodded,
I thank you and your government for your attendance. I hope this shall lead to good relations in the future.

Just after speaking with Haskler another shuttle landed on a nearby pad, out walked Justin Dobson, a member of the Dobson family. This particular attendee was of great interest to Drydic. The amount of wealth and connections Justin held would be an excellent addition to the Legions assets. Greetings, it is a pleasure to have you here today, I understand that travel to this region can be some trouble these days.

Finally Dorian Sevanar arrived from the Final Dawn another nation Drydic had his eyes on, the Director Admiral approached and stood near the others. Drydic gave a quick greeting to Sevenar before addressing the group. Now that we are all here let us head inside. Drydic turned and walked with the others to the door. A soldier immediately opened the outside door, in which the party entered through. On the inside was what used to be a small store, Drydic led the party up to a second doorway. Once they entered the second room Drydic motioned for them to sit. A Large circular table was in the center of the room, four seats surrounded the table. Drydic sat and waited for the others to do the same.

I am sure you all have a basic understanding of why your here. I can give you all a great opportunity. I am here to assemble the various Warlords that are in this area, and even across the galaxy. I have already spoken to other small groups, however you are of the most important of those I've contacted.

Drydic sat foward a bit. The Legions can offer many things to both larger powers, as well as being a strong independent entity. For many many years we have seen the problem of small bands of warriors, Pirates, and other Warlords who cause trouble everywhere they go. If we take them and bring them together, unite them then we can tame these Barbarians. The Legions, once united, can serve as a great army, that you can call into battle when we are needed. We may act as a buffer force, protecting borders from raiders, or invading forces from powerful nations. Now I ask you all, what do you think of this idea. He then looked at all of the others around the table, waiting to see who would speak first.

Julius watched eagerly as the various participants gathered to attend the meeting. He quickly took mental notes about all of them, but the last participant was the one that intrigued him the most. Sure enough, Imperials were a common sight in the galaxy, and in these uncivilised swathes of space, he was bound to encounter one. No… this was not the cause of his unsettlement, but rather, he felt something, as if he knew the man that came from the odd-looking shuttle. One that he was sure he had already encountered, seen flying in space… but where? He wasn't exactly sure. He only knew he had to be extremely careful.

He followed Maxim to the outpost, leaving behind his TodHusars, to watch over the landing pad; if they could discreetly obtain more intel regarding this white-dressed Imperial… knowledge is power, after all.

But this was not his train of thought, and he knew he would find more about his interlocutors very soon. Oddly enough, none of them cared to introduce themselves, but his databank provided for what he didn't know, especially regarding Justin Dobson Justin Dobson , who seemed to be a wealthy investor, not so far from the Warlords' region of activity. But, alas, records were incomplete. The mystery shrouding the other man seemed to get thicker and thicker.

"I am sure you all have a basic understanding of why your here. I can give you all a great opportunity. I am here to assemble the various Warlords that are in this area, and even across the galaxy. I have already spoken to other small groups, however you are of the most important of those I've contacted.

"

Haskler could not say he was surprised with Maxim's proposal. Leaders, rising from the power vacuum of these regions, and trying to unite a realm around them, were becoming increasingly common in these times, and it was his duty to take contact with them, to try and help them as much as he could. Some in the Empire were opposed to this idea: it could be a total waste of resources. Julius agreed, but it was almost free to reassure the warlords, saying the Empire supported them. If necessary, more investments could be made later, when needed.

"Your proposal, Lord Maxim, is one nations around you will be forced to consider with great care, not knowing what to do; in these times of cold war between the Core and the Outer Rim, and, worse enough, in these times of war coming from the Unknown Regions, no one would be foolish enough to overlook such an opportunity. The Empire is made of no fools, hence my presence today. We would be honoured to count you as allies, and to help you through your operations to restore order in these troubled regions; although our mutual friendship would come at the cost of some restrictions. The Empire is not willing to help those harbouring the warmongers of the Brotherhood of the Maw, however generous or selfless they might look when they try to gain your help. Likewise, we would be forced to consider war if you decide to help out enemies, be they Sith, or Jedi.
Our open hand is one of friendship, Lord Maxim, but it can also become an iron fist if you decide to act against us. That is our way of meeting new overlords of this galaxy: to offer them our help and friendship as a principle; but also to remain steadfast in our crusade against those that wish our destruction. I do not ask you to choose a side. Let our help be a token of our new friendship, and let acts speak, rather than words."

Letting silence fall again, the Moff gazed intently at the two other participants, judging how his speech had made them react.
