The Galaxy's Southern Lights [COR]

Solan grabbed at his hair as he ran a hand through it, looking at the far wall as he sat in the offices of one Aurora Industries probably for the first time as a customer rather than as a business partner. It was kind of weird and reminded him of the old days that came with actually getting ships and support for the Maw Consortium. It somehow felt like it had been a lifetime ago in some cases where he barely even registered that he was sitting here as a customer.

He laughed under his breath with that thought, still just sitting there and staring while he laid out a plan infront of him as to why he was here.

The COR would need ships and while he could transfer a few of the smaller ones from Kesh to the Confederacy, he would need to leave most on the planet itself and it was smaller ships the COR would need right now, not cruisers and frigates, though those would help in the future. There also came the need for droids. Normally he would think of using a sentient based force but he could not reason risking those who came to help without ample backup in some cases. He wasn't looking at building an army yet, but the COR would need defense droids and more importantly battle droids for when the need arose.

A defender could not defend without his shield, and this deal would help be the coals to craft one over.

Taeli was scribbling off notes to several of her chief engineers, dictating what projects should be focused on and what needed more research and development. They were now in the process of working on new technologies that were to be used against Force users, and she was trying to get several different projects looked at. She was even giving the okay for a limited further excursion into Otherspace to look for something called void stone. The holo-intercom built into her desk chimed and her Umbara secretary appeared.

"Yes?" Taeli asked, looking up from beneath her glasses.

"Your appointment is here," the Umbaran woman replied.

"Send him up," Taeli said, getting a nod in return while she went back to looking over the flimsi and datapads on her desk. She wasn't sure what Solan wanted now, she had approved the purchase of two of the Bastion-class Star destroyers for the Mandalorian Empire... what more did he want? His message had been vague, something about a new organization he wanted to start but nothing specific had been given. She would be very curious what he was going to ask of her.

Solan smiled as his hand pushed past the sliding door and his body entered to room, looking around at the office for a few seconds before focusing on Taeli with a smile.

"Taeli Raaf, a pleasure to see you again and im sorry to contact you on such short notice. Decided that if i was going to entertain searching for companies to supply my little group, i should cut you in on the profits of the venture after all." His eyes focused in on her as she sat behind the desk, smiling and taking seat before further explaining.

"Im starting up a Private Military Corp, under the name of the confederacy i one day want to reach across the Galaxy's outer reaches to help protect and build it up the region in the absence of the Techno Union. With the onset of the Sith Triumvirate and rumors of a new imperium i will need to get my group outfitted for combat against them first on the small scale then later on a much larger one. That is why i want to sign a deal with you giving you production permissions down the line as well as openning trade between my PMC and Aurora Industries."

[member="Solan Charr"]

"And what all are you asking for, Solan?" Taeli asked, setting her datapad aside for a moment. She regarded Solan for a moment, purple eyes appraising him and his proposal. "Droids? Weapons? Ships? What assets does this PMC you intend to start have already? While we are friends, I'm not about to toss money and resources at a pipe dream. Give me the break down of what you want and what you already have, and we can go from there."

"Ill get down to business. The COR is meant to be a Private Military Corp as i've said a few minutes before. With that i will indeed need all of which you just listed off though there is the obvious problem of funds for the Corp at the time so you will be paid via funds made through my share of the company, and through my own personal reserves. With that said, i should get down to business. For now the weapons, ships, and droids needed will be split between companies, though from Aurora i am looking at acquiring ships of Frigate size or smaller along with basic droids which will be more of a security force. Our older models should do fine for now, though i expect to need our more advanced models in the future."

He paused as he looked down at his datapad before reaching over and handing it to Taeli.

"This is a list of ships i will need, along with several bulk orders of our first Generation droids. You will also notice a requisition order for capital guns to be placed on our home base once ive selected the location. My soldiers are versed in how to install them so all supplies and shipments will be left at the designated coordinates at the bottom, where freighters, and crew will move the ships into place. For now we are looking at the acquisition of a few Minelayers, a Kantos frigate, and a number of Eliminator corvettes. Would that be easy enough to acquire considering the funds detailed?"

"Why our first generation droids?" Taeli asked, looking over the list he gave her. "We've begun the process of decommissioning all current Legion droids to be replaced with our new Guardia battle droids. A much more advanced version of the old Legions. We haven't exactly gotten around to the Arachnid upgrades yet, but you might be more interested in these."

An image of the new droid would appear at the table's holodisplay, showcased side by side with the old Legion droid.

"Although..." she mused aloud, leaning back in her chair, "If this... private military corporation is going to grow into this force that you want... on top of being paid in credits... I will want a ten percent stake in this corporation and use of its forces to defend Aurora interests."

Solan looked over the droids with interest, his eyes looking into every curve of the creation's armor and running a hand to his chin. That was until she spoke about extra compensation in the line of work. He looked at her for a few seconds before sighing and turning his head to the side, eyes staring at te wall while he debated it. In truth it was a good deal, especially considering the state of the CSA but that fact was something he didn't want to rope the others into without their knowing.

"Ten percent in stakes in the corporation... that will sadly be harder than you assume Taeli. The corporation works in ways that do not gain us a great deal of credits as is, and having the funds drained in the future would be a problem." He scratched at his neck and was drawing a blank for once, something that was strange for him.

"How about this, ill offer rights of production for Aurora industries upon the creation of the CSA's reach of influence. Thus ensuring you will make a profit from the venture without any worry from your side or mine. I believe that would be more than fair, no?"

She noted the way Solan eyed the two droids as they were displayed side by side. The Guardia was certainly more impressive than the first droid that Aurora had ever created, as Krayt Industries. She was glad to be rid of the Legions to be honest. They just weren't up to snuff when it came to dealing with the galaxy's problems. Still, Solan's next words and counter offer made her pause as she started to wonder just what exactly he was aiming for here.

"Sphere of influence and rights of production?" Taeli asked, an eyebrow raising as she looked at Solan. "Just what exactly do you intend for this private military company to be, Solan? Are you envisioning it growing and becoming something like the Omega Protectorate? To be a major player in galactic politics?" At this, she gave Solan a small amused smile as she leaned back in her own chair. "If that's the case, I think you need me and Aurora more than we need you. I'm not asking for credits and such to be sent to me with that ten percent. I am merely looking for a say in how its run. You do have a tendency to... poke sleeping bugbears. I think my deal is more than fair but... a compromise then. I'll drop my number down to five percent of the shares, you throw in production rights once your group has grown and we do the deal for the droids and ships. More than fair, don't you think?"

He thought about her offer and if what he planned was what she had thought he had planned, then it would probably have been a smart deal. The problem was the ogranulation was not a profit organization and all the money they did get would be needed for their mission.

"Taeli, I'm going to level with you, this is not like the Omega, nor any PMC that you would take the name for. We do not wish to devolve into a corporation that extends it's hand to grab up worlds, and instead a shield and threads to link world's together, protected by us. I can't offer you shares because once we are set up, we will not have shares, I myself will make absolutely nothing from this venture and my reason for doing this is to finally atone for the many things I have done. I will gladly accept your deal, pay for the ships and supplies myself if need be, but I can't offer you shares that won't exist."

Taeli blinked, long and slow, as she took in Solan's words. She would take a few moments to find the right words though because she needed to figure out what exactly he was up to now. This venture seemed... she wasn't quite sure.

"So let me get this straight..." she began slowly, tapping a digi-pen against her desk. "You're trying to sell me on this idea of a private military company... and it's not an actual company. So essentially, you want me to outfit your own private military so you can play hero out on the Rim with your little toy ships and soldiers when the Kathol Outback and the Galactic Alliance have been filling that role rather nicely. If this 'company' has no actual resources or true planetary infrastructure to offer besides what you venture out of your personal pocket, how exactly do you expect me to support it?"

She leaned forward in her chair, the digi-pen still now.

"You're trying to sell me on an idea, one that might only serve to strain my resources, so here's what I'm going to say. You can purchase what you need from me, but that is as far as it will go," she said. "If you have the credits, but I won't put Aurora resources behind your private forces."

This was odd.

Once upon a time, [member="Taeli Raaf"] sold him weapons. That was a long, long time ago, but it seemed it may start once again. At the request of [member="Solan Charr"] Krest entered the building, unfortunately late. Or early. The times between planets were often so different to the Zabrak he couldn't tell which was what. And when Charr was no where to be found, the Zabrak quickly learned he was late.

Right up to the desk the red man went, offering a quick nod to the Umbaran woman. "Sorry, it seems I'm late. I was to be here with Solan, but I got my times mixed up. Might I head on up?"

Solan tapped his hand on the arm of the chair as Taeli listed off her feelings on the matter and once she was done, his only response was to slowly stand. This meeting was over and she had said her feelings on the subject to which Solan had heard and now could leave without worry. He hadn't been too sure on how this meeting would go in all honesty if it was the small nagging feeling of who she was connected with that made him feel that way, or simply and knowing that she might be right, it didn't matter.

He did owe her a small statement though before he would leave, his eyes focusing on his friend before smiling and bowing his head. She was still his friend, even if he felt a bit hurt by her words of his wanting to help and do more where the others could not.

"Your Zealots and Rebels are not what the galaxy needs to stay stable. The Kathol is a group i more than realize the job that they do, and how effective they are. But they are not a military and the day that they turn into one is the day that i severely worry that they no longer follow the purpose that they set out to do. And as for those Zealots of the Jedi Order. Your own code preaches Balance, and yet they would see any without the light side wiped from existence and the removal of any creation that does not fit their mold. Perhaps what i am doing is playing hero with my 'toy soldiers', but atleast i don't disillusion myself with hope that one people can fix this galaxy that is tearing itself apart over and over again. If you change your mind about funding my little group Miss Raaf, ill be where you can find me."

His hands clasped each other behind his back as he left, not responding to any words that would come from his friend and he started to walk down the halls he knew well enough to traverse on his own. His eyes only finding Krest once he entered the lobby and his smile fading as he just shook his head, saddened that this meeting had gone this way.
