OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a new, fun, and overly rambunctious Sithspawn to Eclipse the Light™.

    Graug
  • Rakghoul

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Graut
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Homeworld: Belkadan
  • Language: Galactic Basic
  • Average Lifespan: 15 Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description: Short, violent, and warlike. A species created through genetic tampering of Graug and Rakghoul DNA, Sith alchemy, and a whole lotta chaos.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average height of adults: 1.46m (4'7")
  • Average length of adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Pale green, grey.
  • Hair color: Very rare, but it's typically dark.
  • Distinctions: Shorter than most species in the galaxy, bulbous heads with wide-tattered ears. Sharp fangs fill their jaws, ever ready to be sunk into the flesh of the weak. Large, protuberant noses and long, clawed fingers that steal from the unwary.
  • Races: N/A
  • Strengths:
[+] Breeder: They breed quite quickly. Female Grauts are capable of giving birth to dozens and dozens of Graut every few months, which mature to full size within six standard months.
  • [+] Low Cunning: While they're far from being geniuses, the Graut possess enough intelligence to learn some life skills to include, but not limited to: speaking and understanding language, waging war, thievery, scavenging, and pleasing the masters that stand above them.
  • [+] Servile Instinct: Graut are very easily dominated, especially by those practicing the dark arts. While they are in no sense Force sensitive, they've an innate ability to sense the dark side, and are thusly attracted to these beings or creatures with the possibility of gaining strength, power, and repute.
  • [+] Bacterial Bite: The bacteria within their saliva is something to be reckoned with, stemming from the Rakghoul in them. While its main application is helping the Graut digest the many, many types of food they eat, using it in combat will see its victim suffer from inflammation, infection, swelling, and sometimes hallucinations. [Note: There are no traces of the Rakghoul virus in their bodies whatsoever.]

[*]Weaknesses:
  • [-] Short Lifespan: While they may breed fast, the alchemical alterations to their genetic code prevent them from overpopulating entire systems and sectors. Around their ten year mark, Graut begin showing signs of advanced age to include wrinkles, frailty, and susceptibility to sickness.
  • [-] Frail: They're not strong, nor are they durable. Most of them have pain tolerances comparable to that of humans. Due to their small size, their strength pales in comparison to average humanoids, but they typically make up for this weakness with overwhelming force in numbers.
  • [-] The Light: Due to their alchemical nature, the Graut are highly susceptible to direct applications of the light side of the Force. Force Light, for instance, can debilitate and cause excruciating pain to Graut - and longer applications of this can outright kill them.
  • [-] Small Brains: Being just a notch above the rest of most other Sithspawn doesn't exactly help the Graut. Just because they can comprehend things and learn doesn't mean that 99% of the race isn't dim-witted.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivorous
  • Communication: Verbal. Written communication can be seen in the smartest of the Graut.
  • Technology level: Extremely low. They're something akin to primitive savages, often torn away from technological advancement by internal fighting, clan wars, and finding the best scavenging places. Crude swords, shields, armor, and ranged weapons like spears and bows fill their clan armories. The most sophisticated things in society have often been gifts bestowed upon them by their dark lords, and they would be quite useful if they could just figure out how to use them.
  • Religion/Beliefs: The general religious belief is that their creators, the Sith, are to be revered and served in the ways that fit them best: through war. They especially revere the Dark Lord of the Sith himself along with his Council of Lords. Graut that are dominated and subjugated by individual Sith are particularly loyal to their respective masters.
  • General behavior: All of Graut culture revolves around warring, looting, and mating. They're in a perpetual love-hate relationship with strength and power, seeing as their low physical strength and stature contradict their desires. All their life, Graut desire for more weapons to slay their foes with, more loot and money to rise above the rest, and more mates to continue their dynasty. It's fairly rare for there to be Graut who dislike this lifestyle, and those who typically disagree are torn asunder.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Graut behold a tale that is rather short-lived. They're a young species, created from the dark desires of the Sith Empire and the creatures they currently field. Hailing from the mixture of Graug and Rakghoul blood, the Graut are violent and war-like creatures specifically created for that exact purpose. The aim behind creating these beings was for a much-needed cannon fodder for the Sith Army rather than sacrificing trained soldiers that the Empire had spent so much money training and equipping.

Upon their creation by the genius alchemists within the Empire's ranks, the first Graut were transported to the world of Belkadan for them to settle for their own - and they did so quite quickly. While still very primitive in nature and mannerisms, the Graut erects many, many settlements and formed their own clans and mobs to begin their civilization. Hunting the beasts of the world, waging war with other clans, and raiding the other species on the world itself has become a staple of their society as a whole, that is until the Sith deemed them strong and smart enough to come back for their creation and enlist it into their ranks.

Wielding a surprising amount of intelligence for such creatures, a natural instinct to fight and kill, and the many predatory traits they wield, the Graut have become weapons of war for those serving the dark side.

So I'm still looking over this, but I did have one quick question. Since they were made partly by rakghoul, does the characteristics of the virus (i.e. turning those bitten or scratched by a rakghoul turns into a rakghoul) carry over with this species?

Not at all. The only things that carry over are appearance elements and the bacteria in their saliva that just results in typical side-effects like general infection, inflammation, and possible hallucinations.

Okay after reading through this some more, I have a few things I need addressed:
  1. Please add a note in your bite strength that it does not carry the same traits as the rakghoul virus, just to make sure there is no confusion by anyone facing these
  2. Can you expand upon your frail weakness, make it more specific on just how not strong and durable they are?
  3. I'm curious how they became herbivorous when one species they come from is a carnivore, and the other cannot eat vegetation without dying. So either explain this or change it?
  4. You describe them having slugthrowers in their technology section, but those would likely be a bit too sophisticated for what you are shooting for with these if they are using crude swords, spears, and armor.

  1. Note added.
  2. I'm not sure what more you want from that. Added a comparison to average humanoid strength.
  3. Changed to carnivorous.
  4. Edited as well. Ranged weaponry such as spears and bows have replaced modern ones.
