The Greatest of All Time

Kuat City, KDY Headquarters

Vraukt didn't own his own starship. Typically he traveled in companies of vast amounts of his kin and brothers in arms sworn to the House of Graush. His former Master however, had given him free reign, apparently deciding he was useless now to him and served no purpose in the Western-most part of the Galaxy.

Vraukt had little purpose without direction, but he had been directed to procure a ship. One that was specific to him, and that was what he would do.

The Kuat Shipyards orbiting the planet had been destroyed quite recently, but the name was still famous, its creations still eternal in the Galaxy.

So Vraukt came.

While travelling on public transit, he went with his hooded figure, sitting in corners away from where people would potentially spot him for what he was. When he arrived at the prearranged meeting point on the planet, he offered a glance to the secretary that was expected to be there.

"Vraukt," was the only thing he spoke, almost coming out as a croak as the Pureblood reached up to take down his hood. He was a simple man, he needn't speak too many words to get his point across.

"One moment," the secretary smiles.

Inside the office... "My lady, your appointment has arrived."

"Send them in," Hadleigh subdued a sigh. Within moments the door slid open, revealing a large and rather starkly decorated office. The woman sat at the very end of a plain desk, with a pair of empty chairs across from her. "Please have a seat wherever you'd like," she offered the two particular options with a gesture to the pureblood she assumed entered freely.

Her fingers interlocked, hands folded over the table. "I have been looking forward to this meeting in particular, what can K-D-Y do for you?" Per usual, Hadleigh kept herself well to the point of business and did not deviate from the course at all. All around them through the tall, transparent walls revealed the entertainment district of Kuat City.

A marvel of engineering which reflected only a small portion of what KDY could do.

The secretary had told him to wait, but then moments later he was given access to the all-business office. Vraukt respected that. Many businessmen or rather, office workers would decorate there cubicles or offices with pictures of family, their achievements, friends what have you. They'd even fill their desks would notable possessions.

Moronic.

It was a place of work.

This room that the Pureblood entered showcased that, and he was all business - always.

The golden clasp on the black cloak that he bore was undone, allowing the cloak to fall from his shoulders and to collapse into his arms, being folded almost instantaneously as he took the seat to the right of the two that were offered. The folded cloak went into his lap and he placed both hands atop it as he took a moment to gather his thoughts.

"I require a ship capable of rapid space travel."

Straight to the point as per usual. Like, [member="Hadleigh Purkis"], there was no deviation from the end goal.

"Of course," she nods once.

"That is very doable... Is this a personal ship, or do you require something for crew operations? What defensive requirements are needed?" Hadleigh is merely asking him to dot his i's and cross his t's on the subject, giving her the tidbits of information required to paint a grander picture of what exactly he wished from her.

"Just so you're aware," she continues along, "K-D-Y also offers crew services for a flat rate from our very own naval academy here on Kuat. That is assuming you don't have a crew of your own, or any intentions of finding one elsewhere. Just say the word on whatever it is you need and we can probably get it for you," Hadleigh finished her statement with a bit of a smile.

Once she had the picture she wanted, it was merely a matter of price from there.

There was a pause.

Vraukt had given much thought to this. He was used to being told what to do, rather than think for himself. If someone told him something was on the second shelf and he searched the second shelf and found nothing, he wouldn't go any further, even if it were mistakenly placed in the wrong spot on the third shelf.

He was simple like that.

Life was easier that way.

A mindless drone didn't get stressed out or feel the pressures of life.

"One hundred metres long." A frown as he thought. "Light shielding." There was a pause as he said, "All power must be capable of being routed to speed and maneuverability in a moment's notice."

[member="Hadleigh Purkis"]

Hadleigh listened.

"Very well," and now it was time to talk price. "Here at K-D-Y quality is not just a matter of expertise, but as well as investment." She leaned forward slightly in her chair, revealing a light smile on her face. Hard to tell whether it was a genuine smile or just there for show, as plenty in her position have perfected the faux smile.

"Once I know how much you're willing to spend we will get to work immediately on the prototype." For a unique vessel it would prove far easier to develop the final product out of said prototype, meaning said investment would go almost directly into the starship itself rather than services meant to facilitate quotas--such as production lines.

She awaited his answer.

Should Vraukt have smiled back? If it were possible, his facial expression would've become even more blank, more as a 'why?' as to the reason of her smiling. Because they were coming close to closing out a deal? He supposed that could've been a good reason, he would've shrugged, but he was in a meeting. He had that much decency to keep his natural habits out of the way of appearing rude.

The Sith of House Graush were rich, or at least, richer than any other family on Tantorus anyway. They owned the largest company on the planet, and A'sharad before sending him off had given him enough credits to potentially purchase a backwater planet if he wanted. Though he didn't. What use would he have for a planet?

Vraukt didn't rule, nor did he lead. He served. A useful ship would only allow him to perform missions more efficiently.

"Five hundred thousand."

[member="Hadleigh Purkis"]

"Granted. I will provide you a vessel worthy of that investment."

Of course, there was still a matter of 'paperwork' to deal with. "I will need you put half of that down immediately... As you understand, It would be a waste of our valued time and efforts to start work on a ship only to have you change your mind." She slid a hand under the desk and pulled out a small datapad. Swiping through various applications she established an account for his ship. "Sign here, transfer the credits and we can begin work immediately."

She almost forgot, "oh and will you be needing to hire a crew from us or shall you be providing one yourself?" A hundred meter ship would require more than a handful of individuals to pilot, but of course that could all be arranged quite easily should he seek to hire directly from Kuat's naval academy which produced some of the finest officers and personnel in the core worlds.

Much of the words she spoke entered one ear and passed through the next. The part about business like this is that it felt long, even if they had only been in the room for a handful of minutes, like they were now. Though he imagined time passed differently for everyone, but still, he was content in sulking by himself. He needn't show his irritation or annoyance at his current predicament.

It would be over, and surely, it wouldn't be the death of him.

He had seen death, his right arm flexed inadvertently, a shiver running through his permanently damaged arm before he offered a nod in understanding and signed his initials. Simply a 'V' that scratched back and forth across the midsection of the letter.

Easy to remember.

And then the credits were undoubtedly transferred. It'd probably be a good idea to work with an actual bank, like the ones at Muunilinst. Hopefully get some interest on his accounts.

"I have a crew." He croaked out in his relatively unused voice.

[member="Hadleigh Purkis"]

"Very well," she took back the datapad.

After quickly reviewing to see that all was well and underway she stored it back into its compartment. "Well, I believe we have everything there is to know. A K-D-Y representative will contact you once the prototype is ready for showing off. There you can decide if it's up to snuff, or if perhaps we need to make some adjustments. No added costs assuming those adjustments don't put us over your down payment."

Hadleigh rose from her chair, brushing down her shirt to fold out the creases before extending a hand. "If there isn't anything else..." A polite way of saying 'that's it, leave if you have nothing important to add.'

Of course if he did she'd be -more than happy- to listen...

[member="Vraukt"]

At long last they had concluded their business.

The Pureblood rose up to his feet almost in the same instant that [member="Hadleigh Purkis"] had done. He had sensed that the meeting was coming to an end with his signature, and that was all he wanted to hear, also, that the production of his ship was finished, though that would come at a later time. Probably in a week depending on when they started and if the infamous Kuat Drive Yards were still up to snuff.

The cloak in his lap was unfurled and went across his back, the clasp being tightened to hold the fabric together, and when he was ready, he found that there was a hand protruding out towards him.

She was human. And he was Pureblood.

Though that was only circumstantial.

Vraukt didn't shake hands. In fact, he almost never made physical combat with a person unless it was his father striking him, or if it were Vraukt's fist striking someone else. There was an affirming grunt, and he offered a nod as he turned from the outstretched hand and threw his cloak back up over his head as he exited the office and eventually out of the building.

It was on to another world.
