“Pulvis et umbra sumus." - Horace
The Grim Lady is tall and tenuous with limbs and a neck so long they appear to defy fundamental anatomy when compared to the rest of her frame. Long, black hair flutters around her sunken features- illumined by the strangeness of her glossed eyes. Frequently tattered, well-worn robes and cloth cling to the woman’s thin frame; edges are split and moth-eaten to reflect the age of such garb. And in the few spaces where her flesh is exposed, heavy ritualistic scars arch and curve.
Inordinate necklaces and bangles made of bones, coins, and stones layer from her neck, wrists, and even around her ankles. These clatter and jangle as she traverses, heralding her departures and arrivals. Her voice is melodic and rich in its husky depths, though it resonates with an echo that is most unnatural and disturbing. One may shudder in the presence of her company, or even find themselves repulsed by the peculiar mockery of a woman.
Undeath has left her a ghostly, nigh-anorexic cast of what she once was, yet bolstered her strength in far more deceptive and prominent ways. She's physically unimposing, save for her incredibly thin body, and the perturbing sleekness she maneuvers it with. There is something quite off-putting about a carcass waltzing about amongst the living, but deeper still... a twisted depravity lurks beneath the scarred surface.
It is quite unclear when Sinead perished, and even more muddied is the date of her rise into undeath, yet no rot nor decay is seen across her frame. Perpetual sustenance serves to preserve her will, and her will is fed to maintain her husk.
The Dark Side of the Force is overwhelmingly conspicuous echoing from Sinead's body, nearly in such capacity it may be sickening to those unprepared.
She has no pulse, nor does she require breath.
ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS
Whatever power lies within the corpsely frame waiting to be unleashed, it infects its environment, warping perceptions passively. Lightside Force Users may find themselves incredibly uncomfortable in her presence, growing even more so to the point of nausea the closer in proximity they become. It is not often two Force Users perceive The Grim Lady the exact same way, as the woman tends to distort the way she is viewed in the weaker-willed minds of those who may witness her.
Migraines are frequent around the undead, as are growing anxiety and increased heart rate. Hostility and aggression seem to spur up insidiously where she roams, and often, she leaves trails of toil and conflict in her wake.
THE SHACKLED
"Unleashed is the Sub-Devaraja of Lies, the Arch-Broker of Envy, Scrivener of Traitors, Archon of Grudges, Invoker of Animosity, the Adept of Malice.
Shifting is its corruptive air, ever shedding and growing in its gatherance of power.
For this, we must be vigilant, so that we may find worship in its wrathful shade once again."
- The Book of Toil, Chapter IV, Verse I
The truth behind the nature of The Grim Lady is far bleaker than one may suspect, yet those scholarly types who speculate out of her earshot have uncovered what it is the woman holds claim to. A devout, high priestess belonging to a religion sworn in jealous bonds to a Force entity.
This select sect of religious followers gathers around the entity wherever it goes, though it mostly pays these fanatics no mind- never stopping to ponder how they continue to find it, despite its tendency to shed skins and inhabit new bodies as it chooses. This entity creates chaos and conflict where it desires and is rumored to be responsible for a number of treasonous conflicts and rebellions all across the galaxy.
It seems to have greater resonance with the body and consciousness of Sinead, and as such, has made her its home for the time being. The woman herself serves to feed it energy, nurturing it and tending to it, in exchange for power, foresight, and the ability to control others. As a result of this parasitic relationship, her frame has withered to deathly levels. This frequent puppeteering has earned the entity an affectionate name from its devoted few: "The Shackler".
No recollection of its true form or nature has been found or recorded, thus depictions are often of Sinead, instead.
Speculation into the origins of this entity have wildly spun off theories, but no solidified origin has yet to be confirmed. Questioning the devoted followers of The Shackler has yielded very mixed results, though cooperation in doing so is frequently minimal at best. Given its nature as an embodiment of chaos, the most favored theory is that it was birthed from the strife and grief of the dying civilians caught in the collateral and crossfire of the galactic wars.
STRENGTHS
Faithful - Given her nature, The Grim Lady is exceptionally powerful when it comes to Dark Side uses of the Force.
Possession - The Shackler may possess her fully at any time to further empower her abilities or sustain her through damage which may have otherwise destroyed her.
Soothsayer - Through The Shackler's eyes, Sinead is granted visions of the future, though they are often only half-truths and a bit fuzzy, at best.
Objective - Being emotionally detached due to her state of undeath, The Grim Lady is able to make more rational decisions without suffering guilty consequences.
WEAKNESSES
Faithful - Should her faith be shattered, Sinead would be left a dead husk, once more. She relies heavily on The Shackler for power, and even more so to sustain her.
Passionate - Zealotry is no stranger to the High Priestess.
Skeletal - Her thin, withering frame is not the slightest bit sturdy or physically threatening at all. She suffers from physical weakness to an almost laughable degree.
Light - Being submerged so heavily in the Dark leaves her incredibly vulnerable to the Light.
