The Guard and The Knights

Kir stood in his power armor, one of two Royal Guardsmen that flanked the Coruscanti Ambassador.

He wasn't really sure why they were here. He knew that the Ambassador was meeting with someone from the Imperial Remnant, a faction that was cropping up in the galactic north, but he wasn't sure why the Red Guards were here. The Ambassador could have been protected by the army, the navy, heck even Stormtroopers. Why had the guard been assigned to this?

To him it made no sense. There weren't many of them, and the Empire was at war, they had better things to do than guard some fancy talking politician. Still, Kir hadn't questioned his orders, and as they entered the space station he didn't once speak up.

“I can handle it from here. Please restrain yourselves.”

Kir felt a spark of insult. This man underestimated the Royal Guard. They were the epitome of elite. They were trained nearly from birth to be the perfect soldiers, the perfect protectors, and this man had the gal to talk to them of restraint? He wanted to crush the man, but instead Kir of course remained silent.

The Ambassador stepped into the room before them, opposite him stood a man very much like him who Kir assumed was from the Imperial Remnant. The two men stood opposite one another for a moment, then began to talk.

Kir turned on his heel, beginning to clomp down the hallway as soon as the doors to the meeting room shut.

“Come on. There's a training room around here somewhere.” Kir said to the other Royal Guard. He knew that the Ambassador would be safe, he highly doubted the Imperial Remnant would try anything, plus the station and meeting were carefully being monitored by the Stations own Security forces. The Ambassador himself had stated that the Royal Guards would 'incite negative feelings'.

The armored man shrugged to himself. This would give them time to practice he supposed.

Garen knew that the continued existence of the Imperial Remnant depended on keen diplomacy, especially when surrounded by the likes of Mandalorians and sharing a galaxy with the Sith Empire, but it didn't mean that the imperial cadet had to like it. If he was directly involved that was one thing, but to be the silent bodyguard was not what he was used to, and definitely not something he could look forward to as they neared the meeting place. The only thing that saved this for him was the chance to see who would make up the guard of the Sith diplomat. Being an order such as theirs, Garen could only assume they would be intimidating at the very least.

The knight in-training was not disappointed.

Entering the room, the Sith diplomat stood on the opposite side and was flanked by large red beings that seemed to be more like machines of war than men. The armor was a mighty red and looked like it could take quite a beating before being defeated, Garen's plain brown tunic making him look almost pathetic in comparison. Of course the young man was quite curious to see just how destructive they could be on an actual battlefield. As the two ambassadors began to speak the Sith guards turned and departed, leaving him to wonder where they were going. He wanted to follow and see what they were up to, reasons ranging from curiosity to concern, but would not run off without his superior's permission.

At the very least he had to seem disciplined after all.

Although this was merely a meeting of ideals and treaties, it seemed more like a clash of colors. Gleaming crimson eyes glazed over to its owner's left and right, lingering just for a moment on the grey-brown uniforms that were the standard of the Imperial Remnant. Even he was wearing a jet-black suit of armor accented by a midnight-hued cape. Across from Davin and his companions was a red-skinned being of the Sith species who seemed to be important enough to warrant the protection of a pair of war machines whose plating matched the hue of the fluid that granted life.

At first, the two sides analyzed each other visually. The appearances, postures, and shows of force were more than enough to prove what each side had to offer. Although the Sith side had that little benefit of industrial might as shown by the two titans that guarded its ambassador, the Remnant had the determination and tenacity to retain what foothold they had on the galaxy. They were hanging on by just a handrail and the support of another being or government would be just what they needed in order to rescue themselves from a fate far worse than death.

"You may depart." The Remnant's own representative offered a similar order sent forth by his red-skinned counterpart. It didn't really seem like either party cared much for protection as the result of either half-unexpected outcome would have more consequences than benefits.

Not one to follow orders, though, Davin remained standing there for a moment. His crimson eyes narrowed at his client, acknowledging the fact that he had at least been somewhat respectful in his isolation request.

"As you wish." The Chiss knight bowed his head in respectful departure, casting a glance towards [member="Garen Ruca"] in a manner that said "come with me."

With that, the pair of Imperial Knights would leave the room and trail the Royal Guards to their destination that appeared to be a training room.

The Royal Guardsmen reached the training room with unwarranted speed, their massive power armor clunking along the halls and causing people to scurry about.

That was something that Kir was not used to. When he had first joined the Guard he had noticed that people had often been afraid of them. The bright red armor and the single slit black visor had been enough to cause some fear. When the Power Armor had been introduced however, the people began to flee in outright terror.

The armor turned them into walking tanks. Massive hulks that could destroy even armored vehicles. Most people guessed that very thing at a glance, then made the leap to think that they would kill anyone and anything in their path. That wasn't entirely untrue of course, if the mission called for it the Royal Guard would not shrink at killing civilians. Yet most times, like right now, Kir would never even think of harming anyone on this station, there was no point.

Eventually Kir and his fellow Guardsmen made it to the training room, ducking beneath the doors archway and stepping inside to find it completely free of people. No doubt it had been cleared for their use.

As they stepped inside Kir looked over his shoulder slightly, or rather he looked to his 360 degree HUD view. He had been distinctly aware of the pair of Imperial Knights following them, likely for the exact same reasons they had come here. Out of pure precaution Kir motioned subtly to his ally, telling him to take up a somewhat hidden position on the other side of the room while Kir moved into the center of the training room.

A simple wordless command was given before the two men left the diplomats to their little conversation, and began to follow [member="Lieutenant Kir"] towards the training room to Garen's delight. [member="Davin"] was a man of few words, unlike himself, but the young knight in-training could appreciate the intensity that radiated off the Chiss, and the piercing nature of those red eyes. A man like that spoke instead through body language and action, making him more trustworthy than those smooth-talkers in the meeting room and someone that Garen could rely on to be one of the knights better leaders.

The two of them followed the hulking red giants until the reached the actual facility, with one of them taking a position in the center of the room. Garen halted at the threshold of the doorway and leaned his side against it while scanning the large figure for any obvious weakness, and just as he had hoped there weren't any glaring spots.

"Oh, are we interrupting a private affair? If so I'm sure we can all sort something out to make all of us quite happy."

Although Davin quite admired the seemingly impenetrable armor that these red-cloaked guards wore, he didn't like them overall. Big things were often clumsy and easy to outmaneuver. Like a well-drilled battalion of soldiers, they could move easily and respond to anything. Even though they were a fairly big unit of soldiers, they were organic, not metal. To be honest, Davin didn't exactly like droids or automated vehicles in the first place. They served well as cannon fodder and menial task operators, but were fit for nothing else.

He and [member="Garen Ruca"] silently trailed the pair of walking tanks. The Chiss Admiral liked the young man quietly striding next to him. He talked a little more than others, but he was hopeful, eager, dutiful, and optimistic. If the Admiral couldn't see to anything else, he'd see to it that this young man would pass his exams and be granted the title as Imperial Knight. He would move on to do great things, he hoped.

"Indeed." Davin replied to the Cadet as they entered the room shortly after the Royal Guards did. "What do you propose, Cadet?"

Kir turned about to face the two men, his massive armor shifting slightly.

The first thing he noticed was that one of them was Chiss. Behind his helmet Kir smiled slightly, red glowing eyes shifted over the readouts on his HUD, then cast back towards the two Imperial Knights. Some would have found this awkward. Kir knew well enough what the roll of the Imperial Knights had been, or at least their roll within the Fel Empire, he assumed it was the same for the Remnant. The Imperial Guard had the same function.

“You are not interrupting anything.” His first instinct had been to remain silent, much like his partner who still stood in the corner of the room. Yet he knew that doing so would be antagonistic, and he didn't want to offend the Imperial Knights, lest trouble began. Still his words were short and matter of fact, as if one had to pry conversation out of him.

Garen took a single step towards the red giant in the center of the room, a smirk still on his face. [member="Lieutenant Kir"] spoke quickly and with some displeasure, something that the young man was more than willing to try and take advantage of for simple entertainment. The cadet placed his hands on his hips while looking between the two Imperial Guardsmen, the toe of his left boot tapping repeatedly against the floor.

"If we are not truly interrupting anything than I assume it's fine if we simply occupy this room along with you. Or you could leave if you so chose, but that would be quite boring. I'm sure the four of us can come up with something far more interesting to do than babble on like our respective ambassadors."

He lifted his right hand and pointed at the two men in red with the smile never leaving his face, "Of course, it might be just a tad bit more respectful to address us outside of those large suits of yours. As you can both see we came in some more modest attire.
