Restricted Missions: Hearts of Fire.
Primary Source: Heart of the Guardian
Name: The Heart of the Guardian.
Manufacturer: Not Applicable.
Homeworld: None.
Production: Unique.
Modularity: No.
Material: Crystal.
PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: Gemstone
Quality: Not Applicable.
Color: Orange. The blade produced by the crystal also has an orange hue.
SPECIAL FEATURES
The Heart of the Guardian is a rare crystal that's sole purpose is to create a powerful lightsaber blade, one that can be used to tip the scales of conflict one way or the other. As such, it strengthens the properties of other crystals while ultimately enhancing the blade itself into a very effective weapon.
Strengths:
+ Bolster/Amplify: This Crystal has the ability to enhance the characteristics of other Lightsaber Crystals that it is used in tandem with. (e.g. Oplia, the focusing and enhancement of the blade's quality would be further increased)
+ Fast, Devastating blade: the Heart of the Guardian creates a lightsaber blade that moves with supreme quickness and delivers vicious blows. It is able to cut through almost any material, given prolonged exposure. This includes Mandalorian Iron.
Weaknesses:
- Not your traditional power source: It functions only when used in a lightsaber. This crystal cannot be used as a power source for other types of weapons or machinery, as it's characteristics are strongly linked to the Force.
- Still can't cut through Phrik or Cortosis: the two materials notorious for counteracting lightsabers still have their effectiveness against the blade created by the Heart of the Guardian, and it will likewise still short out if exposed to raw Cortosis.
DESCRIPTION
The Heart of the Guardian is an exceedingly rare lightsaber crystal who's origins date back as far as the beginning of the Jedi Order. It is believed by scholars of the Order that the gem is of a prophetic nature, and it seemingly disappears for long periods of time only to reappear during times of greatest need.
Sith also have their beliefs about the crystal, which include a strong tie to their will to dominate all. Given the nature of the crystal to enhance and strengthen, there could be some truth to this claim if it were ever to fall into their hands.
Durell Arden happened upon the Heart during a heartbreaking event on Gyndine, wherein the Republic was forced to quell an insurrection by disgruntled shipwrights. Initially intended as thanks, Durell only finally accepted the gift after they were all tragically murdered, and vowed to use its great power to protect others from meeting a similar, unjust fate.
After his own death, Durell passed the Heart of the Guardian to his son, Thom.
