- Collapsible upon itself.
- Lightsaber resistance.
- Straight to the Point: As a spear weapon, it can garner quite a bit of reach. Able to keep enemies at bay, or to push enemies away from you. The spear can also be used much to the same fashion as a double bladed sword would have been used with the Firedancer art of the Echani. This allows the weapon to be twirled and spun around at tremendous speeds to provide rather powerful blows. Secondary functions allow this weapon to be able to collapse upon itself. The grip of the weapon extending the blade out from one's self.
- Echani By Design: Made with Echani Graphite, the weapon is highly resistant to many forms of damage. Specifically Lightsabers, Blasters, and kinetic damage. Proposed to be just as good as Beskar, at the added benefit of being lighter. This is only renforced with small portions of the blade itself being hallowed out to reduce weight, as well as the shaft of the weapon being hallow to allow the sections to slide into one another.
- Not Quite as Durable: While the energy, and kinetic resistances could potentially match that of Beskar, Echani Graphite can only really be made in a cylinder form. Most often being hallow to reduce weight. Thusly, should the shaft take too much kinetic damage upon a section, there is a chance it can be bent, or cave under the stress. This could prevent the weapon from being able to collapse.
- Within Reach: As the weapon in base form is a very short sword, barely long enough to be considered a sword at all, anything just outside of this weapons reach can be quite dangerous. Even your standard lightsaber is well longer than this sword's length. However, changing to it's spear form, means it becomes much longer, but weapons that can come within the reach of the spear can still damage the user. There is no "halfway" mark to make this a short spear, or a sword with a really long grip. Either it's the sword, or the spear. Not a mash up of both.
Another day at work, another request for the Echani. However, this request came from quite the person. A historian of sorts. Wanting a weapon that she could keep her enemies at a distance, but also keep in a simple sheath. One that would allow her to use on short notice, or use in a full fledged battle. Shaun at first thought of lending a double bladed sword, however, that would not really give the reach that Alexandra requested. Mulling it over quite a bit, It was with studying older weapons of the Echani, that he discovered an old relic. The Handmaiden's staff. A weapon that could collapse upon itself when not in use, but also have such a reach to keep enemies at bay.
With this, Shaun invested more time into studying this weapon. Learning of the creation methods for such a weapon, however with some slight changes. Creating the weapon out of Echani Graphite, a metal once used for Force pikes for their Lightsaber resistance, but also for their high durability while in a cylinder form.
Using these older methods, with newer technologies, as well as adding to one end of this staff, a blade that could be used for more lethal applications, Shaun made sure that the staff could collapse within the hilt itself. Instead of collapsing to a center point. This blade could be sent forth out from the user, while she was still holding onto the grip.
A small note was attached to the weapon when presented to Alexandra.
"A librarian and Historian reaches far and wide for knowledge. May this spear reach as much as you do."
