The Hyperspace Guild - Interest Check

"A different way to play."

Q: What is the Hyperspace Guild?
A: A Minor Faction of Non-Force Users would engage in PvE Faction Threads together as groups, run exclusively by GMs,and gain a predetermined amount of money for their efforts.

Q: What makes it special?
A:
  • No Force Users
Thusly, all our threads are balanced more by Tech and Career Skill than Magic and Uber'ness.

[*]Zero Politics
  • We don't involve the FvF Map Game and we only host our Faction Threads on unclaimed or Player-created worlds.

[*]Neutral Characters only
  • You'll never see a Republic Member in a group with a Imperial Member because all Guild characters participate only when they are Faction Neutral. Exceptions can be made by individual GM's on a thread by thread bias before the start of a Campaign, or via invitation.

[*]Your character makes money
  • Every thread you participate in comes with a posted monetary reward which can be saved, tossed, ignored, or spent later in the Marketplace. This is in addition to any GM rewarded items received during play. This amount cannot exceed 50k credits at 20 posts or 1 million credits at 100 posts.

[*]Scarcity
  • You can only turn-in a maximum of (2) IC threads to earn cash a month. Participation beyond this thread limit is not rewarded. Advancing in Faction Rank will expand this monetary cap. Allowing your PC's career to grow.

[*]Player created Campaigns
  • Every Faction thread is created by a GM. This writer is the primary crafter of the narrative and environment for the group and can act as a conflict resolution during times of struggle. GM's cannot move, act upon, or kill your character without your permission. But they can present unique conflicts for them to overcome as a team or as individuals, at any time.

Q: Who's running the place?
A: Jay Scott Clark will building the Faction Forum and running the place come Day 1. After that, Staff Opportunities will open up based upon growth and the number of volunteers available.

Q: What's our Kickstarter Goal?
A: A tentative pledge of at least 8 additional writers by August 1st will enable Jay to create the Faction. Doors open August 4th.

Q: Didn't this happen already?
A: Yes. I made this Faction once before but it died out do to inactivity, a lack of NFUs, additional GM Staffing, Factory Savvy, and because PC's can earn unlimited wealth at any time, already. The Factory was a much different beast back then too.

Questions and Pledges of support are welcome. Comments and concerns are recommended to be placed in my PM Inbox. Thanks for reading! :D :p

Awesome awesome. A big thank you to all the writers who have posted an interest in participating so far. Already we have half of the number of people required to start the group. Very cool. Share the word and let your friends and companion know. If we can get eight writers on board by August 1st, then we can earn ourselves a tentative start.

As always my PM box is open for comments, concerns, or suggestions. Hope to see you guys in the Grand Campaign come August 4th. :D

Question: if the entire purpose of the faction is independent of the map, doesn't involve politics, doesn't involve faction vs faction fights, and is mostly a way for characters to make money...

Then why not just make another board? A faction based around avoiding the main things that go on on the board, and thus make it what it is, seems rather external of the board itself.

[member="Jay Scott Clark"] Well I like GMing threads, like a lot really and I have a planet that i think a pretty legit campaign could spawn from. Let me just grab the link. >_<

All those things aren't exactly the "main things" that go on on the board. They're just the bits that require (and thusly create) the most resources, so it appears as though they're the board's chief function, when one of the more core ideas of the board is cooperative play and storytelling. Additionally, this guild doesn't act as independent from the Invasion/Dominion/FvF portion as the game, as FvF politics do affect the available land on which to play. It's just a check to make sure that Hyperspace Guild members don't try to transform their Guild Charter Adventures into Dev Threads for their super-murder Republic-Genocide machine. When acting as a Guild Member, you act as an independent adventurer devoid of lust of result and open to whatever you run into while on the ride.

[member="Darth Realmstream"] That is a very unique question. However [member="Tyger Tyger"] has replied to it generously and wonderfully. I will defer to his reply with complete confidence. Lol. Thanks man. :D

[member="High Priestess Dibella"] Boom. So hot. Now that is what I'm talking about. The Hyperspace Guild is a vehicle for cultural exploration and world building creativity. As a GM and a member you will have the opportunity to provide a narrative for others to immerse themselves in as they help build it outwards with you. Where the characters go, your narrative expands outwards with unlimited possibility. And for the characters, an unlimited experience. Building, sharing, pioneering, and storytelling together. That is the end goal. Crafting the journey. And your skills as a world builder would be a natural fit. I hope you'll join us when you can.

The Guild exists in my mind as a homage to the tabletop DnD games of my youth. Collaborative Imagination, through Cooperative Party Play. Hopefully it will offer a new playstyle to the board that will deviant from the Empire-Building-Wild-West-Conquering Risk Game that is the map, and make use of the Factories World and Creature Building skillset and studious personnel. This is not the great war of Light against Dark, Gods vs Gods, or Empire vs Empire, but rather the journey of mortal man stretching out his mind and his arm to the stars. If only to see what awaits him there.

I don't want you to look at a map and say, Conquer. I want you to look at the sky at night and wonder what is out there for you. That is the spirit of the Hyperspace Guild. Bringing together like-minded SW writers to explore that cosmos together.

[member="Jay Scott Clark"] If I were into men you would be my first choice right now xD

Anyway I had a thread up for Dredd but I hit one of my depression sumps but lately I haven't been left alone with my thoughts cause of my new job so I'm good to start GMing anytime really, I love building planets and I love telling stories so sign me up as a GM if you want since this character is technically a FU but I really haven't done anything force wise with them

We can work out the details come August. Haha. Until then, welcome writer number six, to our merry band of misfits. Hope to see you there. :D

Today is our deadline and I'm sorry to say but we've fallen short of our Interest Goals. A big thanks to everyone who came out and expressed an interest in building something fun and new. Here's wishing you guys all the best in all your adventures to come.

Cheers and good luck out there in the CHAOS. :D

Any further comments and concerns can be placed in my PM Inbox. Thx.
