Strengths:
Firepower: First and foremost, the Immortals are gods of firepower. Lining their massive two thousand meter hulls are dozens of turbo lasers, ion cannons, proton torpedo ports, laser cannons, and a few other special surprises. The amount of firepower that is found on one of the Immortals is on par with what could be found on entire fleets. The Ships hold enough strength to take on most anything currently found in the galaxy, and their strength is truly awe inspiring.
Armor: The Immortals like their name implies are incredibly powerful and well armored ships. Their heavy reinforced hulls and their double redundant shield generators ensure that not only can the Immortals dish out damage, it can also take it. The front of the ship is heavily armored, capable of taking quite a bit of damage before beginning to fail, though its true limitations have yet to be tested it is theorized that the Immortals are capable of sustaining quite a bit of damage before ever being threatened.
A Big Surprise: All Immortals Come equipped with an incredibly powerful and rare weapon known as a Proton Beam Cannon. These massively powerful weapons often saw use in the Old Empire, with the first of the ship born kind being equipped on the Imperial Star Destroyer the Accuser. After taking Coruscant the One Sith found the schematics for these weapons and recreated them. The Proton Beam Cannon aboard the Immortals front underside is equal to that found on the Accuser and is capable of sustained range and damage Comparable to a Heavy Long Range Hypervelocity cannon found on the Dark Blade but with a slightly greater rate of fire.
Weaknesses:
Lumbering Beast: The Immortals are typically the slowest and least maneuverable ships in the One Sith Fleet. They are slow unturning giants. The Immortals will never win a race, they will never catch up to a fleeing enemy, and it is very unlikely that they will ever be able to turn around to fight a surprise attack. These Ships are meant to pick off targets directly in front of them, not turn around and fight other targets. Thus they are mostly used for planetary defense or assault.
Fire Arch: Most of the Immortals guns face forward. In keeping within the theme that holds within this line of ships ninety percent of its guns, including the powerful Proton Beam Cannon, faces directly forward. Half of its defense guns line the back of the ship protecting it from assaults, none of its heavy weapons are on the backline however, making it vulnerable to capital ship attack from the rear.
Hyperdrive: The Immortals are massively huge overbearing ships whose power core is mostly used up by its many powerful weapons systems and shield generators. As a result, the Hyperdrives aboard the Immortals are somewhat secondary systems. Because of this, the Hyperdrive on the Immortals requires nearly thirty minutes to power up to first use, and after its use. This means when the Immortals want to exit a system, or a flee a system after just arriving, the hyperdrive will require at least Thirty minutes to power up(5 Posts by the Commander of the Immortal).
Description:
The Immortals were designed as a result of a directive from the Dark Lord to the Sith Daella Apparine. The Directive was simple, create something that would inspire fear.
Running with this idea, and thinking to herself that the ships needed something special, Daella began the development of a weapon that would be powerful enough to smite the Republic in short swift movements. The requirement and development of this was the Proton Beam Cannon that would alter be situated upon the Immortal Class Star Dreadnought. These weapons were created for one purpose, to replace the highly inefficient Hypervelocity cannons currently in use. Hypervelocity cannons required ammunition, massive power draw, and the design of an entire ship around them.
The Proton Beam Cannon had only one of these drawbacks. Unlike Hypervelocity guns the Proton Beam Cannon required only a massive draw of power and unlike Hypervelocity guns could be installed far more easily on ships, allowing for additional weapons as well as hull plating since the barrel of the weapon was not in the way of such things. This new development allowed the One Sith to create a Ship with more weapons, while maintaining the same firepower as a Hypervelocity gun would offer.
After the weapon was complete the necessity was soon found to design a new ship. Current One Sith vessels were all niche in design, with the Dark Blade using the now obsolete Hypervelocity Guns and the Wyyyrlok Class simply being used as a mainline Star Destroyer it was quickly decided that a new ship needed to be built in order to overcome the limitations of previous designs.
Careful to keep the Directive of the Dark Lord in mind Daella commissioned the building of a Vessel that would inspire fear and awe in the Enemies of the One Sith. The Directive eventually lead to the construction of the Immortalclass which followed many of the design aspects of the ancient Sith Vessels, something that Darth Mierin commented on when she first saw the designs of the Ship.
This vessel even aesthetically was meant to inspire fear on those who saw it.
The first vessel which would eventually be designated The Immortal would come off the line of the Copero Shipyards. This vessel was massive in scale, larger than any Ship that the One Sith had produced. Nearly two thousand meters from tip to tip the Immortal was bigger than most starships in the galaxy and fielded a wide variety of weapons and firepower.
Aesthetically the ship looked like a fearsome bird of prey with dozens of spikes coming from its wings. On each of these spikes were situated weapon emplacements giving the Immortal overlapping fields of fire. At the very center of the Ship at what would be called the “Face” was located the Proton Beam emplacement. This Weapon was controlled and operated by no less than five hundred elite trained gunners and used advanced targeting systems to find its prey. The Immortal has a truly terrifying output of damage on its front axis, on the back however it is truly lacking.
All of its heavy guns are situated on the front of the ship, with only half of its defensive guns placed on the back. This means that though the ship is somewhat defended from fighter strikes, it is somewhat lacking defenses against Heavy Capital Ships. This would mean if the Immortal was lured into an ambush by a fleet, it would be hard pressed to survive an assault. Though the designers of the ship were well aware of this deficit, its overwhelming frontal firepower was deemed an acceptable trade off.
Like its name implied the Immortal is designed to be a truly indestructible ship. Although that is of course preposterous, the Immortal Class Star Dreadnoughts are incredibly powerful and sturdy ships. Their frame is made of a Terenthium and Desh Alloy making it both light and incredibly strong, the outer hull is Durasteel and reinforced with the same Terenthium and Desh alloy that compose its frame. This gives the Immortal Class an incredible amount of armor, which is in turn reinforced by its redundant Shield Generators.
These Redundant shield generators are located on the inside of the ship, and as their name implied they are designed to reinforce each other. This function served to make the Immortal class into its namesake giving it an insane amount of survivability.
Again however the weakness of this is that the Immortal class has a sufficient lack of armor in its rear. Though it is still enough to survive some damage, attacking the rear of these massive vessels is the most obvious way of punching through its systems and crippling the ship.
Among these more standard features the Immortals also feature one carry over from the Dark Blade Class Dreadnoughts Design, that being an internal bridge. Its command center, complete with a high-fidelity replication of a total exterior view, is located within the center of the ship, encased in highly expensive turadium. The metal is so exceptionally tough that it renders even lightsabres less effective. Complete with self-contained air recirculators, inertial dampeners, rations and a distress beacon, this 'inner hull'-slash-safe room is designed to preserve life even if the rest of the starship is destroyed. It can also function as a meditation chamber and comes equipped with a self destruct function for the rest of the ship. The Immortals are crewed by the best within the Sith Fleet. Those officers and ensigns who show the most promise, cruelty, and affinity towards the Sith.
This Vessel was designed as nothing more than an end to the question, who reigns surpeme in space?
Due to the Omega Event, this vessel is no longer available icly or oocly in any manner unless acquisitioned by Intergalactic Solutions directly. Vessels may be purchased and owned as per Major Factions and Minor faction's ship ownership limits.
