The Imperial Army is the ground-based military force of the Risen Empire, serving as the counterpart to the Imperial Navy. It was responsible for planetary occupation, land-based warfare, and maintaining order across the Empire’s vast territories.

Structure & Organization

The Imperial Army was vast, second only to the Navy in size and importance. It included several divisions:

  • Imperial Shocktroopers – Elite shock troops known for their white armor and unwavering loyalty to the Empire.

  • Imperial Stormtrooper Corps – Standard infantry, often less equipped than shocktroopers but forming the bulk of ground forces.

  • Vehicle Divisions – Included armored units like walkers, tanks and personnel carriers.

  • Special Forces – Black ops teams such as Death Troopers and Purge Troopers, utilized for specific mission sets.

  • Planetary Garrisons – Occupation forces stationed on conquered worlds to enforce Imperial rule.

  • Officers & Command Structure – Commanded by high-ranking officers such as generals and moffs, with the Imperial Council and Emperor at the top.

Equipment & Vehicles

The Imperial Army was equipped with some of the most advanced weapons and vehicles in the galaxy, including:

  • Blaster Rifles – E-20 blasters for stormtroopers, with other variations for different units.

  • All-Terrain Walkers – AT-ATs for major assaults, AT-STs for reconnaissance and skirmishes.

  • Tie Tanks & Juggernauts – Heavy assault vehicles for planetary warfare.

  • Speeder Bikes – Used for scouting and quick attacks.

  • Starfighters – Though mainly under the Navy, some TIE Fighters were deployed for close aerial ground support.

Doctrine & Strategy

The Imperial Army was built around fear, overwhelming force, and strict discipline. The Empire relied on rigid hierarchies, mass deployments, and brutal suppression tactics. Their strategy often involved:

  • Planetary Domination – Establishing a presence through occupation and fear.

  • Shock and Awe – Using overwhelming firepower, like orbital bombardments and walker assaults.

  • Suppression of Resistance – Crushing uprisings before they could spread.

  • Loyalty & Fear – Troops were kept in line through propaganda, strict discipline, and fear of failure as well as indoctrination during training.

The Imperial Army of the Risen Empire has a strict hierarchical rank system similar to real-world military organizations. Below is a breakdown of the ranks from highest to lowest:

High Command Ranks

These officers commanded entire sectors, armies, or planetary garrisons.

  • Grand General – The highest rank in the Imperial Army, equivalent to the Grand Admiral in the Navy. Also a member of the Imperial Council.

  • High General – Commanders of major planetary operations, overseeing multiple sectors. Limited in number.

Senior Officer Ranks

These officers held key leadership roles in large-scale military operations.

  • General – Led armies, often responsible for entire planetary occupations or large battlefronts.

  • Vice General – Assisted generals, commanded divisions or corps within the Imperial Army.

  • Brigadier General – In charge of brigades or smaller planetary garrisons.

Field Officer Ranks

These officers commanded battalions and regiments in the field.

  • Colonel – Led regiments and major strategic units.

  • Lieutenant Colonel – Assisted colonels in regimental command, often leading battalions.

  • Major – Oversaw companies and battalions, acting as key tactical leaders.

Junior Officer Ranks

These officers supervised companies, platoons and smaller tactical units.

  • Captain – Led companies, often deployed on the front lines.

  • Lieutenant – Commanded platoons of soldiers or operated as executive officers under captains.

  • Second Lieutenant – Junior officers leading smaller squads, often newly commissioned.

Enlisted Ranks

The backbone of the Imperial Army, these troops made up the majority of the forces.

  • Sergeant Major – Senior enlisted officers, responsible for discipline and coordination at the battalion level and higher.

  • First Sergeant – Senior enlisted officers assisting company leaders.

  • Staff Sergeant – Non-commissioned officers assisting platoon leaders.

  • Sergeant – Non-commissioned officers (NCOs) leading squads and maintaining order.

  • Corporal – Junior NCO rank, often assisting sergeants in squad leadership.

  • Specialist – More experienced enlisted soldiers tasked with performing specialist tasks inside combat squads.

  • Private – The lowest rank, standard foot soldiers of the Imperial Army.
