The Imperial Star Fleet
The Navy and its Star Fleets of the Imperial Remnant operate on the doctrine of scalable and methodical application of power projection. The appropriation of and assignment of these battle groups into a permanent or temporary formation allows the Imperial Military the flexibility to respond to any situation.
Line Battle Group: The primary component of the Imperial Navy’s Star Fleets. The main strategy of the old Imperial navy was a focus on capital ship firepower rather than star fighter superiority. The essence of that credence is echoed in this formation. Primarily composed of heavily armed escort vessels centered around three Imperator III Class Star Destroyers. An Imperial Star Fleet is always formed with one of these battle groups as a direct result of the compulsory order made by the Imperial War Doctrine. Additional Line Battle Groups are always added as first priority when scaling the size and strength of Imperial Star Fleet I.e. it is the most common component of this formation.
Formation Composition: One to Three Imperator Star Destroyer IIIs or Equivalents Star Destroyers/Battlecruisers; Nine Absolution Star Destroyers; Six Crinan Destroyers; Twelve Merciless Class Frigates; Three Noble Class Frigates; Six Extinguisher Picket Corvettes
Rank Prerequisite: Commodore
Carrier Battle Group: A secondary component of the Imperial Navy’s Star Fleets. Unlike the Empire of old the Imperial Remnant is progressive in military strategy. The basic understanding that maintaining void superiority and the capabilities that mass deployment of star fighters and bombers can have in the midst of battle led to the formation and need to maintain Carrier Battle Groups. The reliance on sheer capital ship bruising power is sufficient to meet the needs of the brawling nature of the Star Destroyer vessels. However the star fighters and bombers act as a thousand daggers cutting apart the enemy in their weak points. The CBG typically remains behind the Line Battle Group and are only brought forward to support the LBGs when the enemy has been routed. The CBG can act as a fall back position in space if needed to rally and retreat with the additional fire power brought to bear from the escorting vessels of the flag ship carrier. The Inclusion of Noble Class frigates lends additional long range support to the Line Battle Group in the midst of battle.
Formation Composition: One Secutor Star Destroyer or Equivalent/Greater; Five Crinan Carriers; Six Crinan Destroyers; Eight Noble Class Frigates; Six Extinguisher Picket Corvettes
Rank Prerequisite: Commodore
Expeditionary Battle Group: The Imperial Navy in conjunction with the Storm Legions and the Army have developed an integrated combined arms force that operates under the EBG. Each star galleon has the capability to deploy up two Storm Legions or a single Army division. Once Orbital control has been secured the Star Galleons can deploy to the surface below. The Venerable class carriers are used to provide low orbit fighter support platforms to the ground forces as they land and prosecute the ground warfare. The combination of these vessels facilitate planetary assault warfare. The EBG works closely with the LBG and the CBG in coordinating
Formation Composition: One to Three Star Galleons; Two to Six Venerable Carriers; Three Crinan Cruisers; Five Noble Class Frigates; Four to Twelve Stalwart Transports; Six Extinguisher Picket Corvettes; One to Two Hospital Ships
Rank Prerequisite: Commodore
