What is The Inquisitorious?

The Inquisitorious of the Risen Empire is an elite group of Force-sensitive warriors, but they are viewed with deep suspicion and control within the Empire. Force users are generally disliked and feared, seen as potential threats to the stability of the Empire. As a result, the Inquisitors are closely monitored and have no centralized leadership outside of a Grand Inquisitor. Instead, they are placed under the command of every other department within the Empire, answering to all higher ranking officers.

These warriors serve as instruments of the Empire, called upon when their unique abilities are required to carry out covert operations, suppress rebellious factions, or eliminate Force-sensitive threats. While they possess immense power, their role is to serve and obey, often fulfilling the orders of even the lowest-ranking officers. This ensures that their abilities are tightly controlled and used only for the Empire’s benefit.

The Inquisitorious is a necessary evil, both feared and manipulated, existing to maintain order and eliminate any Force-related threats. They are tools to be wielded, rather than leaders in their own right, ensuring the Empire’s dominance while remaining under the strict supervision of other Imperial divisions. They remain barracked and trained at the Inquisitorium, a dark tower in the isolated and desolate deserts of Bakura.

Who is the Grand Inquisitor?

The Grand Inquisitor holds a unique and somewhat symbolic position within the Risen Empire. Unlike those with substantial command over their respective divisions, the Grand Inquisitor lacks direct power or authority over the Inquisitorious or any other Imperial body.

Instead, the Grand Inquisitor serves primarily as a liaison, receiving orders and directives from the higher-ranking members of the Imperial hierarchy and then distributing them to the other Inquisitors under their command. They do not have the same influence as the leaders of other military or intelligence branches, nor do they have the autonomy to make independent decisions. Their role is one of communication and implementation, ensuring that the Inquisitorious carries out the will of the Empire without overstepping its boundaries or growing beyond its intended purpose.

While they may sit at the table of High Command during important discussions, their presence is more about ensuring that the Inquisitorious is kept in line with the Empire’s overall strategy, rather than actively shaping that strategy themselves. In essence, the Grand Inquisitor is the middleman—a necessary figure who ensures that the Force-sensitive warriors of the Empire remain tools to be wielded, not a force unto themselves.

How do they Operate?

The Inquisitorius (or simply the Inquisitors) are a group of Force-sensitive agents employed by the Risen Empire, primarily tasked with hunting down force sensitives. They serve directly under the Grand Inquisitor who reports to the Imperial Council and ISB. Here's how they operate:

1. Structure & Hierarchy

  • Led by the Grand Inquisitor, a representative of the Imperial Council and mouthpiece to the Inquisitorius.

  • Other Inquisitors are referred to by numerical titles (e.g., Second Sister, Fifth Brother, etc.), rather than personal names.

  • They are highly trained in lightsaber combat, interrogation, and tracking Force users.

2. Mission & Tactics

  • Hunting Force Users: Their main purpose is to eliminate or capture any potential Force-sensitive threats.

  • Interrogation & Conversion: They attempt to turn captured Force sensitives before resorting to execution, recruiting them into the Inquisitorius.

  • Brutality & Fear Tactics: They employ fear, intimidation, and torture to break their targets or those aiding them.

  • Use of the Dark Side: While not full Sith, they mainly wield the dark side of the Force, including abilities like Force choke, mind probe, and enhanced physical prowess.

3. Equipment & Weapons

  • Double-bladed lightsabers: These are distinct weapons that can rotate like a saw blade, allowing them to perform intimidating combat maneuvers.

  • Imperial Starships: They travel aboard advanced starfighters or special Inquisitor shuttles.

  • Purge Troopers: Elite stormtroopers trained to assist them in hunts. They’re the only military unit Inquisitors have authority to direct and only within approved parameters.

4. Relationship with other Force Orders

  • They are not true Sith or Jedi but dark side enforcers.

  • They do not conform to seeing the Force as light or dark, they utilize it however they must to complete their missions.

  • The Grand Inquisitor kills or punishes them if they fail or show weakness.

How are they Structured?

  • Grand Inquisitor - Serves as the figurehead of authority for the Inquisitorius, reporting directly to the ISB on all matters and carrying out their edicts.

  • Brothers & Sisters - Indoctrinated force-sensitives who have undergone training, and secret surgery failsafes, that are utilized as special assets against rogue force users.

  • Initiates - These are force-sensitives who have yet to be indoctrinated and proven loyal to the Empire, serving in logistical roles until their training is evaluated complete.
