- Essentially nothing has changed insofar as the defensive capabilities and the ability to soak damage is concerned from the Jagged Smile and the base model of the 'Legion' Frigate. It still performs its roll with extreme prejudice save for the fact that with its augmented speed it is capable to close or widen the distance on enemy vessels more swiftly than its originator.
- Shipboard Combat Focus -
- Retrofitted and modified from its original design, the Jagged Smile is faster and more maneuverable than its fore bearer enable it to close on larger ships and maneuver close to them where there powerful guns will be less effective. It excels at ship boarding action, powerful tractor beams and magnetic clamps anchor the frigate to larger vessels or trapping smaller ones while umbilical assault tubes penetrate into their hulls and transport troops across on mass.
- Stealth Field Generator -
- Outfitted with a powerful Stealth Field Generator the Jagged Smile is able to strike and escape against enemy vessels unexpectedly. Larger Capital Ships have little chance of being able to detect the Frigate before it's to late and smaller vessels can fly into its reach without ever knowing.
- Deadly at the Fore -
- The Jagged Smile has a single powerful weapon built into its fore in the form of a Fusion Accelerator Cannon. It has the power to rip a standard Star Destroyer in half at range like other weapons of its caliber however it has only a single firing arc which is forward ensuring it is a useless weapon against anything on the Frigates port/starboard sides or in its aft.
- Ultimate Power -
- Antimatter is considered by some to be the ultimate power source, more intense than fusion and on the same level as singularity power though perhaps a tad more unstable. The Antimatter Reactor at the core of the Jagged Smile provides the necessary boost to the ships power output to make it faster, clocking the engines of the Frigate to even higher levels of velocity and ensuring its energy runs at maximum levels. Of course due to the instability of the Antimatter Core a large portion of the power created is used to maintain powerful shields that contain the core itself lest it rip the ship apart from the inside.
WEAKNESSES
- Almost Toothless -
- Like a standard 'Legion' Frigate the Jagged Smile is not made to stand up to larger vessels and since it is unique among the Frigates it is based off of there is little chance of that changing. The Jagged Smile has one major offensive weapon, the Fusion Accelerator Cannon mounted at its fore which it is unable to fire while its Stealth Field Generator is activated and which only has a forward facing arc of fire.
- Energy Drain -
- The Stealth Field Generator draws power from the weapons system of the Frigate however as its primary purpose is to close with enemy vessels to commence boarding action this is usually only a minor inconvenience. In such cases where circumstances transform any engagement into a ranged one its is likely the Jagged Smile will use its powerful engines and high speed to retreat and out pace its opponents. Gravity Well Projectors also do not function when the ship is cloaked.
Built off the original SF-13 "Legion" Class Star Frigate designed in 864ABY by Jaeger Solutions commissioned by the Dark Council the Jagged Smile is a unique ship retrofitted to advance the previous design and act as the personal vessel of Nodak, the Ironbreaker.
It retains all of the original systems of the regular 'Legion' Class Star Frigate but has cut back on the addition of several Escape Boats to make room on the hull for several new features. Tractor Beams and Magnetic Docking Clamps placed on the Port/Starboard sides enable the Frigate to attach itself to larger enemy vessels for ship boarding action, a Stealth Generator lets it move unseen as it makes ground on its prey and the transition of one squadron of Starfighters for Support Craft alongside Umbilical Assault Tube technology lets it deliver its troops with the highest rate of efficiency.
Other changes between the standard 'Legion' Frigate and the Jagged Smile are the use of an Antimatter Reactor which replaces the 'Minerva' Class Reactor but still generates the enormous amount of power that the ship requires to effectively use its Fusion Accelerator Cannon which replaces the "Pit Horror" Hypervelocity Cannon that is a standard feature on the base ship. Strictly speaking the Jagged Smile, like the standard 'Legion' Class is not designed with a heavy armament however due to the sheer power of its Fusion Accelerator Cannon it was rated by its developers as high.
Engine efficiency, upgraded thanks to the Antimatter Core make the Jagged Smile the top of the line. Even the fastest Cruisers and Star Destroyers have little chance to outrun it or train weapons on it effectively as it closes, only the fastest Corvettes Frigates have any chance of out pacing it and many Starfighters will even find themselves tested. Gravity Well Projectors make retreating into hyperspace even more unlikely when fleeing the Jagged Smile.
The Ironbreaker has outfitted the Frigate with a personal 'Meditation Chamber' as well allowing him to focus his connection to the darkside and augment his powers prior to a battle occurring. Naturally this chamber is also part of his personal lifeboat if the ship is threatened with destruction and ejection is required.
