OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: The Jedi Enclave on Selvaris
  • Classification: Jedi Enclave
  • Location: Selvaris
  • Affiliation: The New Jedi Order & The Jakku Jedi Enclave - NJO/JJE
  • Accessibility: The enclave is hidden under the jungle canopies of Selvaris. Blocked from the naked eye, and nothing else. While it may be hidden it is easily accessible by those who can navigate the jungle terrain.
  • Description: At a glance the enclave is no more distinguishable from any other remote village on any other backwater jungle and forested planet. A series of huts and primitive longhouses dot the village exterior as the more permanent clay-built structures dominate its center area. The village enclave looks a hard home for hard people who wish to survive on what the land and planet provide. The entire village enclave borders on six acres much of it yet to be built upon.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • The Meeting House: The Meeting House is a building made from clay and native metals. It has ornate patterns carved into it's facade, along with grotesques, gargoyles, and filigree that take a subtle inspiration from the flora and fauna of the planet. The majority of its interior is a multi-story auditorium, and any other rooms are meant for smaller and more private meetings. The Meeting House is most often used as a Town Hall, meaning it is a place for announcements and large gatherings that consistently deal in matters of the enclave's future. Standing room only.

  • The Hall of Diplomacy: Located in one of the smaller sections of the meeting house, the hall is a smaller and more private conference room for discussions between a handful of individuals. This hall is meant for matters of diplomacy between the Jedi of the Enclave and the rare Selvarisian native.

  • The Training Hall: A rugged and rustic, clay domed, mud floored longhouse. The hall is barebones on every level. Its sole decoration is a long worn and used banner emblazoned with the insignia of the New Jedi Order. The banner hangs on the far wall opposite the main entrance. The domed walls and ceiling are made of a natural orange clay, and the floor is comprised of the jungle soil that has always been there. The soil has been known to become mud after the more sizeable tropical storms, making for tougher training terrain. The training halls frequent use, and natural build means the hall is in a state of constant repair to combat the harsh tropical weather, be it storm or high heat.

  • The Mess: A rustic and simple longhouse built from native trees. A sizeable room fit for dining and celebration is at the front, along with a decent yet primitive kitchen in the back. The mess pushes the message that one must work for their food as they work for all things on Selvaris. There are only a small amount of food synthesizers on hand for members of the order and enclave that have any special dietary needs.

  • The Jedi Archive on Selvaris: The Archive, located in a multi-tiered long house, is small but growing as the Jedi put more work into building the enclave. While the access to information is limited, because of the enclave's intentional lack of technology, there is a greater ambition to unlock and discover new knowledge from one's experiences and the galaxy at large.

  • Long Range Comms Hall: The Comms Hub is equipped with the least amount, and highest quality communications technology the GA could ask the Jedi to maintain. It is one of two modern buildings among the primitive huts and longhouses of the enclave village, and its installation was the only condition to acquire the Galactic Alliance’s support in the formation of this enclave.

  • Med and Science Hall: The Med and Science Hall is the second of two modern buildings among the primitive huts and longhouses of the enclave village. It was built and designed to specifications with the help of Jedi Master Amani Serys. It has everything needed for practice, treatment of injury, surgery, and all other facets of modern medicine as well as and especially healing through the force.

  • The Gardens of Unil: Located in the heart of the village enclave is a plethora of different jungle plants. The garden is an aesthetically pleasing yet also utilitarian part of the enclave. It is here that beautiful, vividly colored jungle plants, fruits, and vegetables are harvested for their taste, their medicinal properties, and for the preservation of their species. The planet's soil, some clever gardening, and the tending after by Jedi has made the garden thrive in a small amount of time. There is less of a separation between types of plants and more so an organized chaos dictated by what plants presence would benefit the others. There are very few offworld specimens in an effort to preserve the natural biome of the planet. There are also a number of statues and sculptures created by several Jedi artisans and other members of the order. The sculpture at its center is of Ular Unil, a Jedi Knight of the Praxeum Era of the New Jedi Order, and the Jedi who the garden is named for.

  • The Glowbeds: A portion of river that runs through a part of the village enclave's eastern edge. This part of the river is named the Glowbeds for all the bioluminescent flora that runs along the waters edge and on the river floor. The light from the river can be seen at anytime of day, but during night it is at its brightest. The bioluminescent flora purifies the water and attracts many herbivorous animals to it as a watering hole and, because of its brightness, a safe space where nocturnal predators avoid. The Enclave pumps water from this point of the river and helps to conserve it and the environment around it.

  • The Permanents: A section of the village enclave where long term members have unofficially agreed to erect more permanent homes for themselves. The differences between homes is notable as some build to replicate the architecture of their homeworlds, or use alternative materials from off world.
SECURITY
Low - A Jedi Knight's patrol, informally issued, and more often than not volunteered. The patrol is a constant vigil, based around the planet's rotational period. Once one rotation is complete, another Jedi will assume the patrol, and so on. The Village Enclave's main defense is its hidden status and remote location on a sparsely populated, backwater world.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Shortly after the Dark Empire's attempted invasion of Coruscant, Ran saw the need for an escape from the Core Wars and the problems of the wider galaxy. She set out in search of remote and sparsely populated planets where the Jedi could hide and live simply. She decided to create a village enclave for the Jedi, and not a simple temple dedicated to the force. She decided to make a community that was low tech, rough, and humble. She settled on Selvaris and quickly invited a cadre of Jedi and friends that would help erect the first longhouses and huts of the enclave village. A few months has passed since then and the enclave has grown faster than she expected, but it is still small and humble and roots itself more and more in the future history of the planet it has been built upon.
