This was an idea I shared with the Jedi Academy Thread, but thought I'd share here as well.
The Great Holocron housed lessons and submissions from various eras of the Jedi and the true number of submissions is thought unknowable (even Yoda had barely scratched the surface!). But while this is a great resource....it lacks us!
My idea is to create The Jedi Order Holocron that will be a collection of information from the Jedi Masters and Jedi Knights of the Order. This Holocron would be a submission to the factory but would also be a section in the Archives that would house the various submission from the Jedi who choose to submit holocron files.
My idea is that each Jedi submits a two part submission, which can be related but does not need to. Part 1 would be an autobiographical retelling of an event in your Jedi's life that you think would be of benefit to future generations of Jedi to know. Part 2 would be some sort of lesson on the duties of a Jedi. This could be about the Force, Lightsaber techniques, Jedi Philosophies, or really anything you feel would be worthwhile for a padawan to learn.
E.G. If I were making a Holocron submission for Kian I might (1) Retell my experiences on Empress Teta, where as a padawan I faced off against my first Sith and (2) give a discussion on the duties of a Jedi Shadow.
There are a number of reasons why this would be fun (at least in my mind):
(1) Previous Jedi Orders have always recorded information in this way and it would be interesting to create a reservoir of information for this generation of Jedi
(2) Would provide a great resource of information for the Jedi Order and students to go to. Going forward, students could go to this Holocron as a means of starting themselves on the path to learning certain skills. While the Holocron wouldn't suffice to master a skill, it would provide the basics and prepare a student to invest more time and training on a specific skill.
(3) It provides all our characters with a sense of continuity. Some of our characters may die, some may turn Sith, some may vanish from the site! But with these submissions, our characters will "go on" in the Archives. In a year from now our characters might be gone, but a padawan could still be learning from them! I think that is a cool idea.
So that is my idea. I'm more then willing to take on the early duty stuff (e.g., creating and submitting the factory submission), but if people want to do this, we should start collecting submissions before making the holocron that way I can have a list of those Jedi who have submitted to it (and I assume over time we can edit the submission to add more names).
