The Jensaarai

I know that the Alliance Force User faction is the New Jedi Order (very Skywalker, by the way), but with the talk running around of connecting up with the Jensaarai, I'd like to know what they're like. Are they the same as the wiki, or has fandom and 800 years changed the definition of what a Jensaarai is, what it is to be one, etc.?

The reason I ask is because I want to train up, but I can't see myself as a Jedi. Not a very good one, anyway. I'd fall somewhere between Qui-Gon and Anakin.

Well, I write most of the Jensaarai on the board, so I'll give you a rundown. I'm trying to stick as closely to canon as possible, given the limited amount of information, and then making some extrapolations given that they really just fade out in Legends canon.

They are a Light Side organization, yes, but still use their emotions more than the Jedi and are more militant, more willing to take what some would consider unethical motives. An example is something that has't come up yet, but they have small teams to go around and manipulate/erase memories from people who know too much. Then Veino and Roth are both fairly comfortable with killing, if need be. Roth more than Veino, but he's not an empath the way Veino is.

They're a bit bigger than in canon, with about 70-80 altogether, with about a quarter of them being apprentices. Still use their armor. Still study Sith teachings and philosophy, but don't use them in their true form, and don't use the Dark Side. I suppose you could say they're more like the Knights Templar monks than Shaolin monks, if that analogy makes sense.

There's kind of a secret agency vibe to it, especially with the mind-erasing. With the blend of Light Side teachings on a Sith foundation with no disregard for the use of emotions, it seems like a solid fit for people who would want to use... what form was it... Vapaad? Windu's one, whatever it was named.

How well would you say a person born of an inherently violent race who tries to discipline himself to not let that bloodthirst control his everyday life would fit into the Jensaarai role(s)?

Yeah, that is accurate. Very much a secret agency vibe to everything, since they're funded through business fronts and such, with secret enclaves and most members live normal everyday lives throughout the system, doing their Jensaarai work in secret.

Yeah, Vaapad would probably be a good fit, but I don't have any characters that use it. The sort-of-canon-default the Jensaarai use is Djem So, so I use that as the one most of my characters have the most training in originally. None of my people can teach Vaapad either.

I think that would work fairly well. There could be some challenges, because aggression is very carefully focused to only be used in defense of others, but never with hatred or anger, so there are some weird dichotomies there.

Alright, so who should I see someone about trying to be in the cool kid club? I honestly don't see Tachon as capable of being a Jedi, and due to IC and OOC reasons, I couldn't be a Sith either. Jensaarai seems a good middle ground while still maintaining culture and history and such.

That would be me. Veino's the higest ranked PC Jensaarai on the board, and I NPC the Saarai-kar and council, created their enclaves, and all that fun stuff. A good place might be the Susefvi dominion, meeting with the Jensaarai. I'm GMing that one, so that would be a chance to interact ICly with the main order before progressing in whatever way you want.

Hmm...How far along is the Dominion? I feel kind of weird joining a Dominion in the middle of i, but iI it's more convenient, I'll slip in.

Not quite halfway, but the story hasn't progressed a whole lot. With my next GM post, I'm going to jumpstart things forward quite a bit more, so I want to make sure everybody who wants in has posted.

I'll be in asap
Thanks for the help. You can archive this or whatever you do to finished OOC.

[member="Veino Garn"] - Rather than tacking up a new thread, I may be willing to do some training with these folks. Julius is out to learn of the different 'Fringe' traditions and their ways, as much as they will teach him, to better himself and his abilities. I think I kinda left that open in my latest post in the Dom too, if you're down for it. I can be content with a slow posting speed too, I know you're busy.
