OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Created over the years Jack spent on Zonama Sekot, he learned to imbue the Force through his plant creations. When they determined he was ready, they provided him two kyber crystals. Carefully, over time, he learned to craft sabers through allowing the Force to guide his physiology into shapes that could be imbued with the Force. Guiding that Force power through himself, Jack manifested two blades that can be shaped via the Force. Just as plants change and shape with time, so too do these sabers adapt and adjust as Jack requires.
Historically, the Forcesabers were the attempt of the Rakatan Empire to shape the Force to their design. The Forcesabers were directly guided and powered by the Dark Side of the Force. However, these instead are designed to move with the Force, to gently tug excess Force energy from the galaxy into the shapes of traditional Force user weaponry. While Jack might not adhere to the tenets of the Jedi or the Sith, he seeks to invoke the saber's visual language of a Force user's weapon of choice.
The varied design reflects Jack's own varied physiology and adaptability. Different shapes are for different purposes, and having options is what Jack is all about. He may come across some future designs he wishes to incorporate into these. With alternate forms come weaknesses; most obvious, the hilt materials are not lightsaber-proof, and can be destroyed by other lightsabers or blasters, etc. Jack believes these weaknesses are more than made up for with the flexibility the designs provide him.
The lightsaber design of old uses a power cell, energy field regulators, focusing crystals, and a laundry list of other components, all to use technology to harness the power of the Force through the kyber crystals. As a completely biological design, these lightsabers instead guide the Force to generate energy directly into the crystals. Using Plant Surge as part of Jack's skillset, the material of the hilts uses both plants & fungi in their composition, only requiring a kyber crystal per blade in terms of non-organic components. Each hilt is varied in shape & design, both seeming to be physically part of Jack himself. His inherent Plant Surge abilities allow him to reshape the hilt & blade configuration at will, though the blades themselves retain the long, straight design iconic to the lightsaber (with the exception of the light-whip). The crystals are stored in small pit-like seeds when not in use (which are in turn store within Jack himself). They 'germinate' and unfold within him, when he wishes to create the lightsabers, pushed out through his body and into the standard 'lightsaber' shape. Made entirely out of plant-like organisms, the hilts are therefore invisible to all metal detectors, and when not active are indistinguishable from the rest of Jack's body.
Due to the fact that the original Forcesaber design was, in Jack's eyes, inherently flawed (an attempt to quite literally force the energies of the Force to bend to one's will), he has adapted the design to suit his personal perspective on the Force (to gently guide the Force as it exists into the sabers, not simply wrench the Force into them). However, this design is still radically different from the tried-and-true methods of contemporary lightsaber building techniques (focusing components, lightsaber lenses, energy modulation). As such, and seeing as how it is very much in its prototypal stages, this by extension means that his blades are particularly fragile, and potentially extremely volatile.
Due to the fact that each saber is literally an extension of his body, it is very difficult to separate the blades from Jack. However, because they are literally part of him, they share his weaknesses in physiology (namely, as seen above: cold, heat, Force-connection, lack of nutrition, etc). As such, it necessitates him to be careful in how and when he uses them.
- Intent: To create two custom, varied, and almost fully organic lightsabers for Jack Sandrow
- Canon Link: Forcesaber, Lightwhip, Broadsaber, Lightsaber pike, Rancor tooth lightsaber
- Permissions: N/A
- Primary Source: Lightsaber
- Manufacturer: Jack Sandrow
- Affiliation: Jack Sandrow
- Market Status: Closed-Market
- Model: N/A
- Modularity: Yes; each can alternate between four forms:
- Standard Saber
- Classic lightsaber, the design inspired by the Forcesaber
- Standard length, standard strengths and weaknesses of lightsabers
- Max: 2
- Lightwhip
- Whip-like lightsaber, the design inspired by lightwhips of legend
- Extended length, requires greater control and dexterity than a standard saber
- Standard strengths and weaknesses of lightwhips & lightsabers
- Max: 2
- Broadsaber
- Broadsword-like lightsaber, the design inspired by broadswords of old
- Slightly extended length
- Combines both kyber crystals to produce a broad flat with a cutting edge
- Standard strengths and weaknesses of broadsabers & lightsabers (in particular, loses the rotational flexibility of lightsabers)
- Max: 1
- Lightsaber Pike
- Extended double-ended spear, the design inspired by lightsaber pikes of old
- Greatly extended length
- Combines both kyber crystals to produce a long blade with a longer quarterstaff center
- Standard strengths and weaknesses of lightsaber pikes & lightsabers
- Because the center part of the pike is NOT a lightsaber-resistant material, a cut to the middle will immediately bisect it
- Max: 1
- Note: there will be a request(s) formally submitted when any changes or additions are to be included.
- Standard Saber
- Production: Unique
- Material: Plant & fungal construction, as part of Jack's physiology protruding and growing to become part of the construction, 2 Kyber crystals. Uses the Force directly as a conduit of power.
- Classification: Lightsaber/Lightwhip/Broadsaber/Lightsaber pike
- Size: Average
- Weight: Light
- Green kyber crystals
- Organic, plant & fungal construction
- Part of Jack's physiology, he can control the physical shape of the saber hilts at will.
- Force-imbued power & design
- Flexibility of design and construction allows for many usages in many situations
- Inherent Force connection allows the wielder (Jack) to control the blades just as well as he controls the Force
- An organic design allows the wielder (Jack) to sneak this past all metal detectors
- All the standard weaknesses of lightsabers, lightwhips, broadsabers, & lightsaber pikes are inherent to these blades, as situationally relevant
- While the Forcesaber design of old has been updated, the inherent weakness of the Forcesaber (namely, its notoriety for exploding when there is little to inhibit its connection to its power source) means that these lightsabers are also potentially quite volatile.
- The power requirements of the Force necessitate that Jack maintains a constant and strong connection to the Force - if this connection is severed, the lightsabers immediately fall apart. Even partially weakened, the lightsabers will deactivate.
- Organic designs mean that anything Jack is weak to, these sabers will be weak to (cold, heat, aridness, lack of nutrition, etc.)
- In particular, non-lightsaber-resistant material construction means that the saber hilts/pike staff are inherently vulnerable to being slashed, cut, shot at, destroyed, etc
- Transitioning from shape to shape requires a not-insignificant amount of time, effectively rendering it impractical to switch in heated combat.
