STRENGTHS
- Imbued with a reversed Sith mind control spell: each time the user draws blood from an enemy, the user achieves greater clarity of thought and freedom from external influences (e.g. others' illusions and mind control efforts, Force-based or not). Full freedom requires injuring an enemy a handful of times. Note that any injury counts and any injury, from a nick to a deathblow, only counts as one.
- Unsurpassed toughness.
- Vibroblade functionality.
- Excellent edge geometry for slicing, even without the vibroblade functionality.
- Keen, sturdy, double-edged point suitable for piercing.
- Designed for knife fights and quick draws, with appropriate sheath and training.
- Finger hole ensures a strong grip and makes the weapon difficult to lose.
- Normal weight for a blade of its size, unlike a classic Sith blade.
- Will pierce or slice through most flexible armors, underlays, etc. A strong choice for exploiting gaps in armor plates or sliding into them at an angle.
- Blade ritually ground with Svolten rhyolite, ensuring it will never dull.
- Easily concealable.
- Classic Mecrosa aesthetics.
- Again, full freedom requires injuring an enemy a handful of times, and any injury, from a nick to a deathblow, only counts as one.
- Lightning or EMP damage will burn out the vibroblade functionality.
- Conducts electricity, instead of absorbing/discharging like a classic Sith blade.
- No crossguard.
- Unsuitable for blocking enemy weapons (e.g. lightsabers, blasterfire) due to length and handle configuration.
- Force suppression/nullification (e.g. ysalamiri) will prevent or end the mental clarity/resistance effect. (Ideally, it would also end any enemy mental interference too, so that works out well.)
The blacksmith Azel Moran forged these three identical fighting knives in the early 870s with assistance from senior students aboard the Pomojema. The blades are alchemised high-end durasteel with a steeply forward-curved piercing point and a keen grind. Elegant, vicious, but tastefully subdued, they are patterned after a Mecrosa Order assassin karambit that Moran unearthed in the Tapani Cluster some years ago.
These karambit knives are suitable for self-defense, knife-fighting, or assassination. In the right hands they could also play a supporting role in a duel. Slim and small, they could be carried in a quickdraw sheath, inside a bracer or gauntlet, up a sleeve, or inside a boot.
Drawing an enemy's blood with these knives places a modified Sith mind-control spell on the user, providing clarity of mind and overriding other mind control, illusions, etc. In simplest terms, users mind-control themselves. This effect is incremental and stacks well. Injuring an enemy a handful of times will give complete protection from illusions and mind control, no matter how powerful. It can also clear the mind despite chemical interference, within reason. The alchemised Drengir-wood grip supports the clarity-of-mind effect with a touch of the Drengir's singleminded hunger.
