The Man That Was Never Broken

Grim Blacklake

Guest
The Blacklake Family Estate, a large compound just off Black Lake. On the outside pristine and a role model for other noble houses. The Blacklake Family kept up with donations to the poor and anti slaver organisations; however this was all a front. The Blacklake Family were slavers. No, they weren't normal slavers who just kidnapped their victims and sold them off. They preferred to break their will first so they could present them to their new masters without hesitation.

The Blacklake compound is surrounded by high walls to block out peering eyes, not many has seen inside, the only people being slaves, Initiates who wanted to be trained (for a price) and the Blacklake Family themselves. This compound is where it all happened.

Grim Blacklake sighed as he looked to the Blacklake Family Guard they were a neat bunch, seen to the public as servicemen to the needy, there were only five of them. Grim's second in command Ser Rudolph nodded. "Rudolph, the next shipment of slaves should be coming in soon right?" The teen would ask as he began to walk. Rudolph followed as he answered, the rest of the Blacklake guard following behind. "Yes M'lord, they are to arrive within the hour."
___
An hour later.
A cargo ship dropped off a group of slaves, each binded and blindfolded. They were forced to their knees in an empty courtyard. There were five new slaves, being that the Estate could only hold a certain amount of people without being suspicious. These five were random people that the Blacklake Family's contacts kidnapped and sent to the compound.

Each one then had their blindfolds removed. They would see a pristine courtyard with many flowers and plants scattered, statues of mythic animals and in the center, a statue of Lord Blacklake, Grim's father. Off to the side of the garden behind a locked door was where the slaves slept...One crowded room with a small window, nothing else.

He would give the five a nice smile before starting.

"Greetings future workers, I am Grim Blacklake and for the next few months of your life you will be worn away at...Broken...Then sold off to the highest bidder into a life of servitude." He would laugh before continuing.

The man's armour glistened in the sunlight, behind him stood two Blacklake Family guards. Both wearing the Blacklake Family Armour with their crest on the breastplate.

There were not many guards around the compound, most of them kept appearances throughout Naboo to strengthen their fake identities.

"You will be broken in the end...So...Any questions?" He would say in a commanding voice.

I was sharing a drink with a pretty blonde on the planet of Naboo. It was much needed rest compared to most of my life. She seemed nice and more than willing, so I didn't question her hospitality when she offered to buy me a drink.

After I had gotten nice and liquored up she wanted to have me over. I was no fool, and so I was not about to turn down a pretty lady's request. We took a cab to her house and she gave me another drink. That's where my problems began. When I start there's simply no stopping. I said yes with a determined grin and she poured me a cup of whiskey.

I should've watched her do it. For when she came back I drank it down greedily and without question. She sat atop my thighs and kissed me hungrily. At first I was enjoying myself, but soon my head began to swim and my eyes became heavy. Poison. I threw her off of me and she laughed. I almost made it to the door when I passed out.

I awoke to the mechanical whir of a cargo freighter. I couldn't see khark. Blindfolded apparently. Distant voices filled my ear as the drug began to wear off and I knew I was not alone.

"Who's there?" I asked.

"Quiet slave!" I was rebutted by a sharp pain from what I could only guess to be the butt of a rifle. The second time I had been kidnapped by a pretty lady then...

We landed, my only clue the mechanical hiss the ship gave off as it did so. I was greeted by a bright light as the freighter's ramp descended. We were shuffled out and thrown to the ground. My blindfold was removed and I was finally able to observe my surroundings. There were five of us. I doubted they would be of any use to me, but it was important to note I was not alone.

The courtyard seemed well manicured and in the center sat a large statue of who I could only assume was the owner. I was new to Naboo, but I was fairly certain slavery was illegal here... So my interest became piqued and I wondered exactly what the hell I was doing here. Then I devoted my full attention to the young man who stood before me.

He spoke of breaking us. Torturing us in ways I probably couldn't even imagine. Oh yes, the others would be of no help. I was trained to withstand such things, but I doubted the rest of them were. The man wondered if we had any questions. I bit the inside of my cheek and spit blood at him.
"Go to hell,"

The young Blaklake's eyes moved from person to person, down the line. They all seemed like good candidates. Out of the five prisoners, only one spoke and it was only to insult Grim. The man spit blood right at him and it hit Grim's right eye. Instantly one of the guard's aimed his rifle. Grim stuck his hand up and the man lowered the blaster. He then wiped at his eye attempting to remove the man's blood. His smile faded as he looked to the guard on his left.

"Lieutenant Rudolph, what's this man's name?" Grim asked. The lieutenant looked down the list of five names, he looked up at each prisoner and narrowed it down.

"[member="Lucien Galtier"] M'lord, our contact didn't get much info on him." The man would say. Grim smiled

"Good, tell the rest of the Guard that Mister Galtier is only to be tested by me. It'll be fun breaking his will to fight back. Take the rest of them to the pen....As for him, bring him to the manor, I'm interested in finding out more on who he is since he decided to disgrace me at my own home." The teen said as he turned and began to walk out of the courtyard towards the manor.

The guards began to take the rest of the prisoners to the pen, the Lieutenant looked to Lucien and stepped beside him and grabbed him by the arm. He then proceeded to drag him towards the manor where he'd bring him to the dining area where a large table surrounded by many chairs. The lieutenant led the man to a seat near the head of the table. A portrait of the Lord Blacklake hung menacingly above the chair.

Grim made his way to the dining area, then found his seat at the head of the table, the room was pretty much empty, the only people there were the man, the lieutenant and the young Blaklake.

He sat silently for a bit before clearing his throat. "I somewhat admire your attitude..." Was all he said. A woman came in with a tray, it had two wine glasses and a bottle of wine. She set it down along with the glasses she then began to our the wine into the glasses. Then like the wind she was gone.

"Nevertheless it shall be shattered along with all you love." He would say as he sipped at the wine.

The man attempted wipe my blood from his face and I only smiled. A guard behind me razed his rifle and I felt sure I was too die. I’d faced death a dozen times before on countless battlefields, but never before did it seem so real then now. Before the man could pull the trigger the young Blaklake dismissed the act with a hand.

I watched as the rest of the prisoners were taken to the pen as he called it and readied myself to go with them, but I was stopped by another guard. I was to be taken to the manor house. Straight to the point then. I imagined my torture was to begin as soon as I entered the door.

Rather than what I was expecting I was sat at a large dining table. The guard still stood at attention only inches away from me.

"I somewhat admire your attitude..."

“You like’d that eh? Well there’s more of it to come pal! We’re in for a long ride you sick son’of’a queen!”

A woman entered the room and she brought with her some wine and glasses. I could shatter the glass and use it as a shiv, but the guard looked well trained. I’d probably be gunned down before I could stand. So, I merely sniffed the wine instead. I would not fall for the same trick twice.

The wine smelled fine and I took a sip. Then the young lord spoke again.

"Nevertheless it shall be shattered along with all you love."

I merely smirked and laughed. “You’ll have a hard time breaking me…” My training told me to give him nothing other than my serial number, but I wanted to try and find out more about this guy if I could.

“Who are you people?”

Lieutenant Rudolph stood there watching the man sip his wine, the man was certainly various what more could he expect from a man that had been tricked then kidnapped. The guard kept by the man's side just in case.

[member="Lucien Galtier"]'s response made the teen smirk. "A long ride indeed." He said as he continued to sip the wine. The man commented about how the Blacklake Family would have a hard time breaking him, the boy began to laugh.

"Oh we have our ways dog." He'd growl. The man asked who they were. And a smile would appear on his face.

"Who are we? That depends on who you ask. Ask the public and they'll say that we are good people who are beacons of hope to the poor and homeless. We find anti slaver organisations lend the guards to other nobles...A giving noble family. Ask our contacts and they'll say we're slavers who kidnap people, rehabilitate them... They'd say we train people for private militaries." He would pause.

"Don't worry, it won't matter soon." He would say.

A family of slavers? It sounded crazy to my ears. What kind of upbringing did this lads father raise him in.

They apparently broke people and made them into soldiers. It was strange to think this was how it was done.

I had heard rumor of such places, but never really seen any. I suppose that would defeat the purpose if I did though.

If what this kid was saying was true and he had been torturing people his whole life then i’d be in for a ride.

It be the the skills I have learned since birth as a soldier against the skills he has learned since birth as a tormentor. It made my skin crawl.

I keep waiting for chains to appear and it all to begin. It makes me antsy, but I have a feeling this all might be part of his game. Patience, a virtue I never really liked.

I down the rest of my wine then smash the glass on the table. In one fluid motion I spin out of my chair thrusting my makeshift shiv at the guard.
Whatever he had in store for me I did not want to stick around and find out...

Grim sat quietly hoping for a response. Yet none came, he kept looking back to see if his father was behind him. There was always this lingering feeling that Lord Wallace Blacklake was watching and disproving of everything that Grim was doing. Maybe it was all the paintings and statues of the lord that gave the feeling. He shook his head a bit before turning to the man.

An second later the man finished off his wine, smashed the glass and attempted to stab the guard. The man lucked out because the Lieutenant wasn't ready and the glass pierced through an unguarded spot in his armour. Rudolph cried in pain and dropped to his knees, the glass that was left in him sat blood red. Grim sat wide eyed for a second they were the only three in the manor, the woman went back to the kitchen which was separate from the manor. Rudolph attempted to stand, but he couldn't, more blood would leave the wound. Grim stood up and looked at [member="Lucien Galtier"].

"You're making it worse on yourself." He would say. As he pulled a dagger from his belt.

if you run, make up the manor/layout as you go. I have no official submission
