CHRONICLE INFORMATION
The Mandalorian Resource Wars were a series of wars that took place during the 400 Years of Darkness between the years of 428 ABY and 800 ABY. It began with the proliferation of the Gulag Plague throughout the Outer Rim as dozens of Mandalorian worlds fell to the virus. One by one the worlds stopped responding to Mandalore's hails and slowly the virus made its way onto the world. The sickness would bring the warrior people to their knees, cutting off key settlements and trade routes. When Mandalore finally closed off its boarders it was already too late. What remained of the Mandalorians quickly began mobilizing to take valuable resources that the Mandalorians themselves rarely produced such as the powerful medicines of the Core Worlds rumored to ease the pain and even cure the Gulage Plague. In a bout of desperation the Mandalorian clans ventured into the core following their Mand'alor, Shesen Gragatus, and raided known Alliance medical flotillas and compounds. Despite the chaos on their own worlds, it wouldn't be long until the Alliance would retaliate and attacked Mandalorian outposts in the Mid-Rim, destroying Mandalorian supply lines into the main theaters of war. These Plague Wars would be a black mark on the military history of Mandalore. Quick and embarrassingly decisive, the Mandalorians were forced to retreat back into Mandalorian Space. What they returned to however after months of raiding and combat was not the home they remembered.
Mandalore had become a battleground for one of its bloodiest eras in recent history as Mandalorian Houses banded together forming several different factions within what had been considered by the Alliance "Mandalorian Space". A Civil War had split Mandalore and the space around into several pieces. These factions vied for power and influence within their crumbling boarders and fought over beskar rights, fertile farming land, and worlds rich with raw materials. They formed various blockades and claimed entire worlds for their houses which led to violence among the local populaces, which sometimes included local Mandalorian communities such as on Concord Dawn and E'choyla as the Houses attempted to stockpile resources for their people. With their most recent Mand'alor, Mand'alor Shesen Gragatus, killed by the Gulag Plague leadership had fallen to her ward who then led a bloody campaign to return peace to Mandalorian Space. However this only galvanized the Houses further, and brought the terrors of the civil war home to the planet of Mandyaim.
With the powerful shipyards of MandalMotors, MandalHypernautics, and MandalTech, Mand'alor Sansa Corda worked the Mandalorian people to the bone constructing their fleets. In various clan history texts it is Sansa Corda that is credited with bringing the bes'uliik back into mainstream military use during the Resource Wars. They would ride the metal beasts into battle from orbit just as their ancestors and slaughtered thousands of Mandalorians either forcing a House to bend the knee to their will or be thrown into beskar mines across Mandalore and Concordia. For a time this did indeed bring peace throughout Mandalorian Space, however peace brought by such violence was not one that was meant to be. As the Gulag Plague continued to ravage workers who were already dying by the dozens from harsh working conditions Houses that had been at war months and years ago worked together to start a series of revolts that became known as the Beskar Rebellion.
Miners who had once been warriors fighting bloody battles across Mandalorian space had been crushed and enslaved by Sansa Corda's massive fleets. They had also become known as Mand'alor the Butcher for their cutthroat tactics and sadistic treatment of prisoners of war during the final months of their campaign against the rebel Houses. Their rein of terror didn't end with with the end of the civil war however, as thousands of Mandalorians were forced to work beskar mines and farm the land for the remaining populace of Mandalore, leaving dozens of other Mandalorian worlds starving. The worlds most affected by this hoarding of resources were the worlds where Mandalorian House Alore did not submit to the power of Mand'alor Corda. For months the poor conditions of the mines and farms and the famine rapidly spreading across Mandalorian Space brought rallies and complaints to clan moots, but to no avail. The people took their fate into their own hands. Small revolutions and rebellions throughout Mandalorian space pushed the spread out armada to its limits. The skirmishes would come to a head on Mandalore when the miners took modified beskar mining tools and openly rebelled against the Mandalorian regime. The Beskar Rebellion as it was called quickly gained public support and melted into the a second Mandalorian Civil War.
The Second Mandalorian Civil War's details were muddy, mostly due to the Gulag Plague ramping up around this time. Most of the battles were noted for being fought in space and both sides' use of various types of Bes'uliik throughout the conflict. While the previous Civil War lasted for several years, this war lasted barely a year after the Beskar Rebllion ending with no clear winner as both sides were forced to return home to defend against an internal invasion. For hundreds of years after the original Yuuzhan Vong War, the Mandalorians had known that certain areas of the planet were unsafe due to the toxic wastelands filled with dangerous Vong Biots. A leftover from that bloody war and the Alliance's attempt at terraforming the Vong Formed landscape. These places known as the Vong Wastes to the Mandalorians had secretly been growing and training armies. Sensing the weakened state of the Mandalorians the Vong remnants attacked Mandalorian settlements across the planet in coordinated strikes. Mandalorians that had been fighting each other for centuries at this point were forced to band together to push back the Vong incursion. While the Vong-Mandalorian War was short, the devastating nature of Vong weapons and bio-attacks devastated the Mandalorans. The war saw the construction of massive walls around the Vong Wastesand constant watch over the them. The Mandalorians were also finally, for the most part, reunited.
The next century saw the decline of the Gulag Plague throughout the Galaxy and a sharp rise in the Mandalorian birth rate. These Mandalorians, hungry to prove themselves like the warriors of the Resource Wars took to piracy. While the Houses and Clans of Mandalore were starting to stabilize, small conflicts with rowdy young Mandalorian Pirates continued for several decades, the collection of small skirmishes becoming known as the Pirate Wars. Mandalore Emberli Garett made a triumphant return and brought the pirates to heel, instead directing their lust for glory and combat at regaining their foothold within the Galaxy.
