The Mau were started by the first Therianthrope to survive childhood – Ahmonet. She knew she would need a dedicated group of individuals to follow her lead, do her will and serve those that would come after her. She formed the group from the downtrodden, and disgruntled of Ankhypt.
She rewarded them beyond their dreams to ensure their loyalty and to continue the teachings to the next one to come after her and through the ages. As well as bringing them together as a community bringing artisans, and farmers to feed them. She knew from her visions that loyalty would be everything and when they would not give their loyalty willingly she made examples of them which in turn made their descendants loyal out of fear. Ahmonet would take the fear and use it to secure her successors embellishing the teachings that only a Therianthrope could guarantee life in the after world.
The Mau have had their share of traitors and each and everyone have been met with swift retaliation and end. There are those that wish for a different life to be free of the power seeking Therianthrope.
The Therianthrope are vulnerable as children growing up it is imperative that those who surround them see no other god but the Therianthrope they serve.
The Mau over time have learned their place though a traitor will surface every once in a while.

- Description – this group is formed from the races which inhabit Ankhypt – human, cathar, and the anubians. They protect and serve the Therianthrope leading their worship, maintaining their palaces, education, and to record their written history.

- Membership – to become a member of the Mau one must be either born to someone serving the Mau, or be chose by a sitting God aka a therianthrope to serve. Once chosen there is no leaving it is a bond that transcends a lifetime. Once a member of the Mau the entire family line become part of the Mau. It is a blessing and a curse to be chosen.
- Dogma/Doctrine – They believe that in time the Therianthrope will become the master race of Ankhypt able to slip free of the bonds of their 150 limit and singular birth. They acknowledge the living therianthropes as Gods and only through their blessings can they hope to achieve anything or serve a purpose.
- Curios – Each member of the Mau a tattoo on their wrist to show which therianthrope they served. Those serving Bestat will have the image of a cat on their wrist.
- Goals – to ensure who they serve becomes Pharaoh and spreads the traditions and beliefs of the Therianthrope throughout the galaxy.
