- Female: Females of the Moida are usually noted by their pink patterns that adorn their head and lower fins. Females are traditionally thought to be the fiercest warriors and are often seen at the highest echelons of society, though there is a proportionate amount of representation in any sort of politics/government roles between male and female Moida. Generally, females are the ones that will lay up to 10 eggs at a time in order to continue the species.
- Twin-Souled: The population of the Moida that identify as what the Galaxy can only describe as transgender, nonbinary, genderfluid, agender, or anything and everything in between. They are often praised as they are believed have the highest possibly of being Force Sensitive. They will often dominate the highest echelons in the Moida society as well as the ranks within the Vilusk Convocation.
- Male: Males of the species are noted by red patterns on their heads and lower fins. Males often do work such as hunting and sailing across the vast Sphere which they inhabit on the Scintilla. They are equally represented as women of the species in influential roles. They are often seen as providers and warriors in their own right. They are also inventors and architects.
A’Vani (Those Above)
This caste is made up of Twin-Souled individuals who are Force Sensitive. They are regarded as demi-gods as Moida culture believes that being able to commune with the Force is a divine gift, due to the rarity of sensitivity in their species. They are mystics that guide and lead their people into a brighter tomorrow. A’Vani undergo genetic mutation to stand taller than the average Moida and to have their crown of fins diminished to two flaps on the sides of their heads which appear to be ear at first glance but truly function as gills.
The A’Vani can go into freshwater for longer durations than typical Moida. Where typical Moida may last only an hour at maximum within freshwater, A’Vani may last half a day cycle in these conditions. Their Moida traits of being able to be in ocean water is not diminished during the ceremonial genetic change. However, their hands and feet after transformation are not webbed as the Moida’s are thus making swimming a more difficult task and forces them to relearn how to swim with their new appendages. It is also worth noting the A’Vani have 6 fingers as opposed to the standard 4 of their species and their eyes are red instead of the traditional sky blue. A’Vani are the chief members of the Vilusk Convocation, the federal and judicial assembly of the society. There, clan leaders and government officials meet on a tri-annual meeting of the respective Council.
Force Sensitivity Low Morality | Above everything, being honest, honorable, and fair is paramount in the Moida society. They prize harmony and justice above all, allowing for those who run the society to examine both sides of a story/situation in order to make the best decision for their people.
Natural Armor | The armor-esque bone covered by skin which protects the base of the Moida’s fins that erupt from their head is meant to protect both the fins and brain of the Moida, allowing for increased integrity if the head is hit.
Alchemical Advantages | The Moida have increased agility, intellect, lung capacity, swimming capabilities. This mix allows the Moida to be quick and critical thinkers as well as masters of water, allowing them to swim up to 40 km/h, dive to depths of 1,800 meters, and breach water to leap up to 12 meters.
Evolution & Innovation | The Moida have advanced far beyond what was projected in their initial creation. They have constructed massive cities, created technologically advanced systems and devices, and have revolutionized warfare at sea and on land.
Freshwater | Most Moida cannot last long in freshwater operations/swimming. At most, they may last up to an hour before they need to be submerged in salt water/ocean water
Vacuum | As these creatures breathe from a Type I atmosphere, in space they must have equipment to be able to breathe outside of controlled areas with air. Otherwise, they will die as there’s no air in space.
Sting of the Light | Though the A’Vani are neutral Force Users, their species is still a Sith Spawn. As such, the use of Force Light against the Moida may lead to them feeling weak, nauseated, and even drained of energy.
The Void | Force Suppression techniques will render the A’Vani temporarily disconnected from the Force and render them unable to utilize it for a time.

Communication
- Galactic Basic
- Uffoni (Developed Species Language)
- Body Language
- Clicks (When underwater)
Initially, Moida technology was at the Galactic standard and as they grew and evolved, they have developed their own technology that has been reported to be above that of the Galactic standard. Hosting circular displays and HUDs, advanced cataloging systems, and even advanced weapons and strategies for aerial and land warfare.
Religion/Beliefs The Force (Izkani)
“The Izkani is a gift. Moreso, it is a blessing. It allows the gods to walk among us and it is the tool which they use to direct us. It flows through everything and it is our burden to bear it, tend to it, and nurture the balance of the natural world. Ours is a duty to protect life and maintain balance within the Izkani to serve our people and to serve the gods. Ours is a path of devotion and tremendous responsibility. May the gods keep you as you embark on this new journey.”
~ Chief Justice Eriya, circa 854
The Triad Xava | Xava is considered the oldest and most powerful of the Triad. It’s rumored that He is the father of Sozin and Hesra, though some stories passed from parent to child will say that They are all siblings. Xava is the God of the Twin-Souled, and as such, He is the reason that the Force was gifted to the beings of the Galaxy. The myth widely accepted of this is that the Izanki was created to allow beings to set right the wrongs of the greater Galaxy. From this mission, the Twin-Souled were crafted and sent to the Moida to begin their path to bringing true harmony to the Galaxy. It is primarily Xava that the Twin-Souled receive their instruction, guide, and visions from.
Hesra | [ X ] | Hesra is the youngest of the Triad. The junior child of Xava and the younger sister of Sozin, Hesra is the Goddess of War and Strategy. Battle is no
stranger to the Moida. However, it is only resorted to if peace is not obtained or even plausible. Bloodshed is only warranted if all other avenues are exhausted. Hesra is the patron of the majority of the Moida population, especially combatants and inventors. Sailors often honor Her as their patron as well because it’s also prominent in some clans that She is also the Goddess of the Waters and is often responsible for tides, visibility, and sense of direction. Sailors often ask for Her guidance in unfamiliar territory and in treacherous waters.
General Behavior
4 Virtues of the Earthsong | “The Virtues of the Earthsong bind all Moida. They give us structure, direction, and purpose. Law is the light of civilization. If we cannot have peace, we will have justice.” ( Bold portions are from MTG Cards [ X ] [ X ] )
Virtue of Law (Afeno) - Uphold these virtues and the laws of our society to the highest standard. Justice must be ever present.
Virtue of Honor (Isili) - Perform every action with dignity and integrity, consider all angles and sides.
Virtue of Combat (Uxash) - If you must fight, do so with honor and grace. If there is an opportunity, use mercy instead of killing.
Virtue of Appreciation (Opiya) - Always use everything that is provided, give back tenfold if you are able.
Festival of the Tides | X | Asman ha’Yaaquri, otherwise known as the Festival of the Tides, is a celebration of autumn and the water. During autumn in Zholla Colony, the tides rise significantly and the vegetation that isn’t classified as wintergreen turns from a vibrant green to a fiery orange. This celebration is often dedicated to the goddess Hesra, as she is thought to be the steward of the waters. During this month-long celebration, sailors set sail for exploration, both inside of the colony and in space on specialized ships, deploying and setting sail on the final day of the week. Prior to disembarking, Moida of all clans come together and sing and dance and feast to their heart’s content, giving thanks to nature, the gods, and the Twin-Souled for providing and maintaining their way of life. This is also the time of the year when Moida may see their deceased family members, as it’s thought that the veil between the living and the dead is thinned during this season and Hesra allows families to see those they miss most during this period of brief time. Mating & Family Life | Moida women lay eggs, up to 10 at a time, and their mate will fertilize the eggs and care for them until they hatch. Mates are chosen through trials of combat, wit, and survival instincts. These trials are widely referred to as Fo Vheshan, which translates to The Reckoning in Galactic Basic. Once their young hatch, the mother brings the head of the family. This is often believed to have stemmed from the belief that because mothers brought their child/children into the world and also selected their own mate, they will know how to best guide the family through the trials and difficulties of life. The only exception to this dynamic is if an Elder is yet living within the family. If this is the case, said Elder will assume the role of head of the family. Men of the species are seen as providers and caretakers, they work and ensure that children receive structure. It is through the males/father figures that young Moida learn stories, legends, myths, and the history of their people. Fathers and the eldest male child are often regarded as keepers of history, both of their species and of the family and their clan. Children are expected to attend universities starting at 6 years of age. They must learn and grow, and they are encouraged to master all that they are taught through positive reinforcement and through tutoring via parents, clan members, and elders.
Clans of the Moida | Clans often consist of 100+ Moida containing a council of 3 Elders at its head and a Chief among them. The clans follow a loose structure as far as occupation goes, what some clans are known for simply represents the most popular occupation within that particular clan There are many smaller clans, however the major ones consist of:
Kluddesh Clan, who deal with hunting and trading pelts and skins as their main source of income
The Osethi, farmers and water harvesters, the lifeblood of the Clans
The Xovati, inventors and architects, they build most of what is seen in the Colony
Day To Day Life | Daily life for Moida is very task-oriented. Many go to their various jobs and children and young adults attend universities and study to become more productive citizens of society. In the evening, everyone helps out with homework and studies and then they all gather around to have family or clan-wide dinner. The kids have downtime after and parents are able to relax before sending their children off to bed, saying prayers to keep Ujari, the Dark Demon, away, often asking for protection from their household patron.Occupations | Every Moida serves their fellows through their job. Every Moida is important and sacred. Every job is vital to survival to the Moida. These are the major jobs in the society, there are many more but these are the most prized occupations that Moida can have, in order of importance.
Governors/Legislators | Anyone may become a member of the Vilusk Convocation, however the chief members are those that are Twin-Souled. Governors and Legislators are among the most important jobs a Moida can obtain. There is no civilization without order. Led by the Twin-Souled, governors and legislators hold society together like glue and ensure that justice and harmony are upheld in all things.
Magisters | Judges within the Vilusk Convocation hold a similar burden as their federal and legislative counterparts. They are, ultimately, seen as the branch that carries out the will of Sozin as far as lawful justice goes. Courts are often held with representatives of all clans present as the ‘jury’ of the hearing. A duo of Magisters preside over a single court case so that there will not be bias and to ensure that the proceedings are peaceful and orderly.
Instructors | Employees of various universities located around Zholla, teachers are held in high esteem within the general populace because they train the younger generations to be combatants, critical thinkers, inventors, innovators, and model citizens. The Moida curriculum is heavily based around necessity and life skills. History is also a large portion of the class load as well. Teachers, at all levels of education, are very well paid and are the oil that allows society to continue to prosper and grow.
Architects | These members of society are builders and visionaries. Their hands built the skyscrapers and vast grids of Zholla and they continue to build the backbone of the advanced society, ensuring that citizens have modest shelter and protection from the elements. Typically, their patron is Sozin or Xava depending upon individual beliefs.
Explorers | Sailors and navigators of the high seas, they often call upon Hesra to aid them and grant them safe passage into unknown territory of Zholla Colony. They discover new areas and islands to broaden their people’s horizons, figuratively and literally. Explorers are celebrated annually across Zholla for their work during the Festival of the Tides where they leave at the end of the festivities to find new lands and make more settlements to grow from the ground up.
Inventors | In a fashion similar to architects, inventors are the catalyst that drives society to advance and reach new heights. These mad scientists of Zholla have conceived countless innovations that have allowed the Moida as a whole to rise above the Galactic standard of technology. They usually take in apprentices as young as 14 years of age and are often assisted by inorganics (droids/constructs).
Doctors | Healers and humanitarians, doctors are vital to keeping the Moida alive and well. They work in nearly all facilities in case of workplace incidents/accidents, allowing these cases to be swiftly and professionally dealt with in the most effective manner possible. They may even be found abroad, working on ships to keep crews healthy and in peak performance condition.
Universities | There are various universities on Zholla, some are trade schools, named after specific clans to imply the subjects that are taught at the institution. For the Moida, universities are the blanket terms for all schools, instead of just those of higher education. At the earliest, Moida will begin going to a university at around 5 or 6 years old and will often continue until they reach about 30 to 35 years old, depending upon their chosen occupational studies. Like Humans, Moida are most likely to receive quality jobs after some form of higher learning/education. Hunting | Though considered to be a primitive necessity among the Moida, hunting is sacred because the animals and creatures which are hunted are sacred and prized simply for being. Moida often hunt in groups of 3 to 8 and only carry back what will feed the clan. Every part of the creatures that are killed is utilized in some way or another, everything has meaning and purpose.
The creation of Species MO-897 was called for as part of the first generation of life on the Scintilla. This operation, publicly denoted as Operation Eden, brought flora and fauna from across the Galaxy. In this “first wave”, Nautolans and Ootoolans were brought to the Scintilla in an attempt to adapt both species to the climate of the construct. This proved difficult and they never seemed to fully integrate into the grand scheme of things. Rather than send hundreds to fend for themselves, with permission from the Nautolan and Ootoolan populations respectively, Discordia sent representatives to the Garden of Death to create a new amphibious species.
In the Garden of Death, DNA was extracted from members of each species and examined for compatibility. Mere strands were compatible and those strands and characteristics were the building blocks of the Moida, otherwise professionally known as MO-897. The scientists and alchemists in the Garden’s laboratories worked tirelessly, fusing, mixing, testing, and experimenting until the species reached its third generation.
Following the successful creation and adaptation of the third generation, often referred to as The Founders by modern Moida, they were later taken from the lakes and forests of Eve to Maymgnosis for further study before full rehabilitation in their new Sphere. While they lived within Maymgnosis, studies and observations showed that, within months of living and mating and organization, the Moida developed color patches on their fins which appeared to denote gender and status. In addition to this anomaly, the Moida developed a strong moral compass and built their lives and clans around it.
With the budding emergence and adaptation of the “People of the Waters”, as they call themselves, it was ruled at the Moida would need a new home in which to grow and live happily, as opposed to living in the waters of Maymgnosis as though they were mere animals. Discordia approved of the new sphere’s construction after a briefing from top scientists and alchemists stationed in the research center in Maymgnosis. Construction began at once. It took months to construct in its entirety, but the effort proved to be quite worth it.
In the following months, scientists ventured to the sphere to check in on the relatively new species. Reports pointed towards a defined culture, clear societal and familial roles, and advancements in standard technology. Grand cities and skyscrapers were built and they developed their own methods of travel which include zipping/gliding between floating islands and power surges and submarine technology. Many scientists and tourists are all greeted in a friendly nature, as long as they respect the land, creatures, and beings about them. Outsiders often enjoy many festivals held by the Moida, the most famous and well-known of these celebrations being the Festival of the Tides. Often, outsiders and tourists opt to stay in Zholla Colony with the Moida due to the gorgeous scenery, vacation vibes, and friendly people.
