SPECIAL FEATURES
A lightweight parasol utilizing a plethora of design principles to make a multifaceted weapon and intrusion tool all wrapped up in a discreet package that could visually pass in a crowd or an opera house. Armorweave enables the fabric to be used to possibly block and dissipate blaster bolt shots of most blasters. A special construction allows the user to fall from heights and slow their descent to non damaging speeds. Songsteel enables the rod to be used as a bludgeon in a pinch, and had the added benefit of being resistant to most lightsabers. Finally, internal blaster components allow for the user to fire blaster shots at close range -effective as a tool for an assassin.
Strengths:
-Cover Me: Blocks out the sun when it’s too sunny. Blocks out the rain when it’s too rainy. Blocks out wind if it’s too windy. May block energy bolts from most blasters when too many people start shooting.
-Mary Poppins May Fly, But I Can Float: Enables the user to fall from lethal heights and slow their descent with precision. Dropping from orbit still wouldn't work though. Dropping from a building would.
-A Blunderbuss as Well: Can fire a shotgun spread of energy bolts that can be effective at close ranges.
-You’ve Earned a Proper Thrashing: Songsteel cane is not only robust enough to resist strikes from some lightsabers, but it can also be used as blunt object to possibly crack bones of some unarmored targets.
-Pretty in Pink, if you so Like: Lacey pink and white accents are evocative of that sexy, bygone innocence of yore. An force wielding illusionist could alter the color of the fabric if they were attuned to the parasol, though this can only be maintained with concentration.
-Critical Hit: The edge of barrel is sharpened, and so it could be used to provide a gruesome end if struck through with rapier like dexterity through a human eye.
Weaknesses:
-It Belongs in a Museum: Such a thing is so intricate and ornate it has to be a decadent waste of credits and precious resources.
-Don’t Get Cocky With Your Weave: Sure, the lace weave can resist blaster bolts, but almost any other type of damage will pierce or overwhelm the fabric and remove most of the umbrella’s functionality.
-Disintegrations Will Ruin Your Day: Weapons using shatter-tech or disintegration will not only destroy the fabric, but would most likely pierce the veil and hit the user.
-Built to Destroy: Using the cane of songsteel to strike or block attacks would ruin the fabric and compromise any of those advantages.
-EMP Can Lock This One: Subjecting the cane to EMP will disable the blaster, since the internal components relies on sensors to fire.
-Don’t Cook, Ever: The whole weapon is poorly insulated against heat abuse in an effort to maintain a lightweight and sleek profile. Repeated lightsaber strikes will quickly render the cane too hot to handle and burn the user.
DESCRIPTION
Frankly, a bizarre marriage of ideas and specific needs went into designing this weapon. One might even wonder if the designer responsible was mad for forging such a strange device. While there is something to be said with being able to carry a lethal grade weapon into a crowd and use it if should the need arise, one had to wonder what strange lengths were being undertaken to exploit a niche advantage. Technically able to be used in a duel, one had to wonder at the sheer amount of hubris and bombast it would take to effectively use this weapon successfully in an encounter. The blaster shotgun was made to used in a niche way as well: while one could potentially just shoot a target, the idea behind this one was to wait for the moment just when an attacker was putting their weight into a swing or thrust before firing while they could not redirect their movement in a type of parry.
The snipers on Almania had a little trick while hunting: they would often use a muddy or grass woven umbrella to conceal their position and fire from the shadow offered -a makeshift and crafty solution when roughing along. It was even said that such a hunter once weaved glass plates to simulate the side of a skyscraper while sniping targets on the battlefield. What could a Fallanassi do with a bit of fabric while hunting? Unfortunately for a galaxy at large that question would remain mostly unanswered.
