- Pew Pew Pew: She's heavily armed, with a high rate of fire to boot. Excellent for operations in which you want to punch a hole in another ship and steal its cargo.
- Ludicrous Speed: She's insanely fast.
- Fixed the Targeting Computer: Remember how Hapan Battle Dragons were known for having really lousy targeting computers? We fixed that.
- Silent Running: The ship has a cloaking device and various other systems allowing for stealth movement.
- Prison: An electronically controlled brig can hold hundreds of prisoners (even Force Users).
- Vehicle Complement: Holds starfighters, shuttles, and armored air speeders.
- She Canna Take Much More Of This, Cap'n!: Her defense rating is laughably low. She has shields, sure, but they're fairly average, and once you break through them, the hull can't withstand many hits before the ship starts to break apart. In particular...
- Vulnerable Drive: As with all Hapan Battle Dragons, the drive is particularly vulnerable to attack, which can cripple the vessel. Such a shame, too. The Jumpmaster drive is so pretty to look at...
- Cooldown Period: The weaponry have a high rate of fire, but eventually a cooldown period is necessary. To compensate during the heat of battle, the ship must take evasive measures and be constantly moving, which slows down the rate of recovery for the weapons.
- WhisperThrust Engine: High speeds and sudden bursts from the sublight engines are capable of being detected, necessitating low to medium speeds for stealth movement.
The Morning Star is a Hapan Battle Dragon heavily modified with various parts, often obtained through less than legal means. This includes items plundered from other vessels (this is a pirate ship, after all) such as the state-of-the-art Jumpmaster hyperdrive, the WhisperThrust engine, and the stygium cloaking device. Granted, in some cases these pieces are just plain illegal and weren't supposed to be on any ship to begin with, so it all balances out in the end.
Rhett Valentino obtained the Morning Star early on in his career as a space pirate after staging a mutiny within a Hapan naval crew. The mutineers took over the vessel and named Rhett as its new captain. It has been used in many a raid since, gaining a reputation among pirate circles. By that I mean they can put a name to the vessel ("Hey, it's the Morning Star! Isn't that the Sheik's ship?") not that its presence demands a reaction of fear or awe from you.
