Son of Triam
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
In an attempt to attract more Bounty Hunters into the Guild and incentivize their staying, the BHG has begun to develop a series of exclusive weapons and armors that will help to improve the ability and success of their Guild Hunters. One such improvement is the IC-PDS, or otherwise known as "The Mother Relentless", a truly impressive feat of weapon engineering that will make their wielders invariably more successful than their competitors without it. It was named for famous Inventor, Tournament Fighter, Mercenary, and Bounty Hunter Triam Akovin using her personal moniker "The Relentless", and it was designed and constructed by a former associate within the Guild.

- Trajectory Correction - Once launched, The Mother Relentless will correct for any alteration to its flight path utilizing an Inertial Compensator to ignore outside disturbances, such as heavy windage, debris disrupting the flight path, and the physical influence of the force. In essence, whatever G-forces are effecting its targeted path, the Compensator will reduce and accelerate counter to the level of disturbance. So if 5 G's suddenly push against it, the compensator measures the disturbance and applies 5 G's counter to the interference, canceling out the force that would alter its trajectory.
- Gravity Assist - To account for the obscene size of the delivery system on account of miniaturizing starship technology, The Mother Relentless comes equipped with Gravity Belt technology to reduce the feeling of mass from the weapon, making it exceptionally light for any user. Its bulk, however, may still prove slightly unwieldy for certain body types or sizes, but the relative recoil will still be much lower than would ordinarily be expected for a weapon of this size due to this effect. In addition to this, due to the reduced "apparent mass" of the delivery system, while it's in-flight, the effects of gravity weighing down on it do not apply nearly as much as it would for a traditional delivery system. This allows it to fly longer and more efficiently with its smaller engine without having to fight against gravity throughout the transit. The only factor affecting it being aerodynamics, and anything that would disturb its flight path, which is automatically corrected for by the delivery system.
- Tracking FOBB Guidance - The delivery system contains the same technology utilized by the Tracking FOBBs issued out by the Bounty Hunters Guild, and when a FOBB is inserted into the launcher, it copies its operational data into the delivery system, allowing it to target one set of specific biometrics. That is, so long as the target is within an operational range. If not, it may explode in transit without a target, if not set with a default secondary Guidance system, such as heat-seeking for example.
- Homing Beacon - Should the delivery system for whatever reason not be destroyed after launch, it comes equipped with a homing beacon that allows anyone with The Mother Relentless to track and recover the equipment for reuse or salvage.
- Armored Shell - In order to increase the survivability of the Delivery System, it is encased in a shell of Quadranium to allow it withstand blaster hits, and protect its more expensive components after explosive payloads are delivered. This is not to say it is impossible for these components to be damaged by a payload or some other kind of destructive damage while mid-flight, but the armored shell attempts to mitigate those odds to more acceptable levels. It does, however, add to the expense of the weapon system.
- Bounty Hunters Best Friend - A Sometimes hunting a target out in the open in person can be pretty dangerous for a Bounty Hunter, and sometimes he wishes he could just stand on the tallest hill or mountain overlooking a town and just pinpoint exactly where they are and pick up the pieces. Well, now realistically they can! The Mother Relentless once fired will travel for kilometers looking for the selected target, and then dive bomb them with whatever payload it was outfitted with. Not to mention that once fired, there are precious few things that can realistically stop its advance, anything that would ordinarily slow it down or carry it off its path is reduced or outright corrected for as its happening. It will cut through the thickest storm, and almost completely ignore the physical influence of the force intended to alter its trajectory, and never miss its target short of being destroyed, disabled, or being out of range.
- Size Matters Not - Although it may prove to be slightly unwieldy due to its larger size, The Mother Relentless is truly the most egalitarian weapon, as nearly all species of many sizes are able to pick it up and utilize it. That is, so long as power is being supplied to it. It will be quite difficult to lift otherwise, even for the strongest. The relative recoil is also heavily reduced due to the nature of its "apparent" weight to the user.
- Recoverable - Given how expensive the delivery system is, it comes as no surprise that in the case the weapon is not destroyed after delivering its payload, it is fully recoverable! Equipped with its own tracking beacon tuned to the launching mechanisms tracking sensor, after the payload is delivered the Delivery System or whatever pieces of it remain can be recovered, or salvaged for reuse.
- Armored Shell - As described above, the Delivery System should be able to withstand most blaster blows, and protect its internal components after delivering an explosive payload or being subject to mid-air explosions that disable its ability to fly.
- Unwieldy - As was mentioned previously, given the utilization of technology ordinarily intended for Starships and in some cases, landspeeders, the launcher, and its Delivery System are exceptionally large when compared to traditional missile launchers. This enormous size can make it an intimidating weapon to try to operate or provide a clumsy appearance for the operator. Storage can also potentially be a problem, as it is ill-advised to store the weapon while it is powered up (which provides it with gravity assistance so it can be used), it becomes virtually unmovable to all but the strongest of beings or droids while it is powered down. In order to transport it from one location to the next, it is advised to be carried in a specialized repulsor-assisted storage container with easy access to its activation switch.
- Expensive - Inertial Compensators are often too expensive to be put into a disposable missile system, and many systems have been put into place to make sure they do not go to waste. However, in the event the system becomes unserviceable, it becomes a hefty fee for replacement or repair compared to traditional missile launchers. For a Bounty Hunter of the Guild to acquire one, they require a number of merits. To have it continually serviced, it may require additional Merits, which is unusual for Guild provided equipment and thus lends itself a more expensive reputation among Bounty Hunters in the Guild...
- One Launch, One Target - For all of its advantages, The Mother Relentless is categorically a single-target weapon, and puts all its eggs into the Delivery System being successful. So when it fails to hit for whatever reason, it is literally a big fat miss. Short of miraculous full recovery, it will not be firing a second time without a hefty reload and reprogram period. It is also not intended for anti-vehicular combat, and probably not well suited to it if ever modified to that purpose. There are better ways of delivering anti-vehicular weaponry.
- Electronic Dependency - If The Mother Relentless is subjected to an electrical, ionic, or otherwise electromagnetic attack on either the delivery system or the launcher itself, the weapon not only becomes incapable of living to its name, it becomes a gigantic and potentially explosive paperweight. For example, if lightning were to strike the Delivery System while mid-flight, it is probable that the weapon will short-out, malfunction, or simply cease operating and thus, as a result, begin to drop like a boulder. The rocketry will still likely operate, but its excessive weight will bring it down to explode uselessly completely off-mark. So while it can fly unimpeded through a storm, it is not advised if lightning is probable. A fall from operational heigh will likely result in severe and likely unrecoverable damage. Additionally, if the launcher itself is subject to these effects while an operator is maning it, it could result in injury or even death depending on the relative size of the operator, and whether or not the Delivery System and payload is still attached.
