Public The Mysterious Singing Star

A rumor spreads through the Outer Rim: a mysterious star, nicknamed the Singing Star, appears once every decade, emitting harmonic frequencies that disrupt starship navigation and communications. Locals believe it's cursed, but a recently decrypted Sith holocron suggests otherwise. The holocron claims the Singing Star is actually an ancient artifact orbiting an uncharted jungle world, guarding the lost location of the Cursed Temple of Darth Maltheron—a sanctuary of immense dark side power.

The Conciliator - a Munificent class Frigate with an accompaniment of three others, inched towards the verdant world. True to the spacer's old tales, this area was a death-trap for long-range navigation outside of simply "eyeballing it". Yet unheard by the droid crew, a Kiffar looked on in subtle awe, the resonance was impressive that he could physically hear it, albeit briefly, but when connected to the Force, it was almost... mesmerising.

Which was why he knew this place was dangerous, and why he had to be here.

Still, this place was dangerous, and no doubt Darth Maltheron would have more troubling defenses for his "temple". Sitting cross legged, Trayze steadied his breathing, and gave two commands. Firstly, he would assist in the navigation of the area, utilizing the Force to see what lay unseen. Secondly, he would command the nearest B1 to read off what was decrypted in the Sith Holocron - all the information was necessary if he was to anticipate and survive the upcoming dangers.

An eerie quiet fell over the ship, broken only by the lurch of the vessel, the hum of activity, and a nervous B1 reading off Sith lore with little understanding, and Trayze's fingers gliding over the keypad on occasion to give clipped commands to the other three ships.

The asteroid drifted ominously in the void above the jungle world, its jagged silhouette framed against the swirling green and blue of the planet below. To the untrained eye, it might have appeared as just another hunk of cosmic debris, but for those attuned to the Force—or simply daring enough to get close—its true nature was undeniable.

The harmonics resonating from the asteroid grew louder as any vessel approached, weaving a complex, dissonant melody that defied comprehension. The closer one got, the more the song seemed to change, as though reacting to the presence of the intruder. To some, it was hauntingly beautiful; to others, it was an assault on the senses.

Trayze winced under the shifting songs of the asteroid. "Prepare... infiltration measures..." the Kiffar stated, his brow sweating as he tried to will his mind's eye to see inside the asteroid itself. "Maintain... minimum... distance... and prepare... for dry jump... on my command!"

A chorus of "roger rogers" barely registered as Trayze reminded himself of who he was, why he was here. He was going to become a Sith - a worthy Sith - and no space rock with a long dead Darth is going to stop him.

Unseen and unheard, the battle between the "Singing Star" and the Kiffar continued, as Droid crews prepared to make groundfall on the asteroid.

The asteroid wasn't what it seemed. As the droid crews scrambled to prepare their descent, faint panels along its jagged surface began to shimmer, revealing lines of ancient design hidden beneath layers of stone and dust. Beneath the camouflage, the asteroid's true form emerged—a station or ship, its surface etched with Sith glyphs that pulsed faintly in time with the Singing Star's melody.

The question wasn't whether they could land—it was whether they would be allowed to.

"Uh, Captain?" one of the B1s on the command controls noted with a slight twinge of panic in its artificial voice. "I think whatever we did, we just made it angrier!"

"Good..." Trayze looked up, a half-lidded smile growing on his face. Despite the assailing din, despite the elusive coils of music that gnawed and traced along the fiber of his aura - he had found the answer. It was so obvious, so straightforward, that it made sense why nobody had managed to enter the asteroid - because it was a beacon for only a certain sort in this Galaxy.

"Good?!" the B1, clearly not seeing his masterstroke, warbled in worry, to which the Kiffar answered calmly - his struggling breath now that of athletic triumph rather than frustrated struggle. "Remember the plan? Where we had to listen in on the frequency, it's been deciphered now - yes?"

"We have secured a thin means of hailing the device directly -" his leal and able tactical droid explained with calculated certainty. "I will not elaborate the odds, however, negotiations are ready should you wish to pursue them."

"Do the duet!" he barked, before refocusing, and remembering proper Sith grammar. He didn't jump into this blind, though he hadn't anticipated that the asteroid would be this harrowing. Timing was everything, and in that moment of tense clarity, he reiterated to himself what the truth was - it wasn't conjured, it wasn't forced, it existed - draws itself together to be found, and those that work with truth always triumph. With the comms at the ready, one last desperate thrust of his mind's eye, as if skidding along the hailing frequency like an arrow to the mark, Trayze spoke the words of his kind.

"<<Peace is a lie/there is only passion.>>"

In the ancient Sith tongue, the Code was spoken, and though he knew that rather than trying to contest the kaleidoscopic call of the "Singing Star" he would harmonize with it, speak to it in its own language. For this was why he was here, to find out the truth.
