To maintain order and ensure the continued expansion of the Diarchy's influence, the Diarchs rely on the Network – a sprawling, multifaceted intelligence apparatus that permeates every level of their society and beyond. They are the eyes and ears of the Diarchy, the guardians against treachery from within and threats from without. The Network is the silent hand guiding the legions' advance and shaping the hearts and minds of newly integrated worlds. They are the invisible foundation upon which the Diarchy's grand design is built.
The Network operates with ruthless efficiency and unwavering loyalty to the Diarchs. Its agents are masters of deception, infiltration, and manipulation, capable of navigating the treacherous currents of galactic politics and uncovering the deepest secrets of their enemies. They are both the sword and the shield against those who would seek to undermine the Diarchy's ambition for enduring peace.
The Network is divided into several interlocking departments, each specializing in a particular area of intelligence gathering and covert operations:
- The Informatores Regni (Informers of the Realm): The core of the Network, responsible for gathering intelligence on internal threats, potential rebellions, and corruption within the Diarchy's own ranks. They maintain an extensive network of informants and spies, ensuring that any seeds of dissent are quickly identified and eradicated. They are also responsible for monitoring societal trends and manipulating public opinion in favor of the Diarchy.
- The Exploratores (Explorers): Dedicated to external intelligence gathering. The Exploratores scout potential territories for integration, mapping strategic resources, and identifying vulnerabilities. Their agents are often embedded within trade guilds, academic institutions, and even rival factions, providing early warning of any threats to the Diarchy's expansion.
- The Silentiarii (The Silenced Ones): The Network's black operations wing, responsible for covert actions, assassinations, sabotage, and other deniable operations. They are the shadow that falls upon the Diarchy's enemies, eliminating threats before they can manifest and ensuring that the Diarchy's will is enforced, even in the darkest corners of the galaxy. They are the sharpest tool in the Network's arsenal, wielded with precision and without remorse.
- The Custodes Codicum (Guardians of the Codes): The cryptologic arm of the Network. Tasked with cracking enemy codes, securing Diarchy communications, and engaging in electronic warfare. In the modern galaxy, information is power, and the Custodes Codicum ensure that the Diarchy maintains a distinct advantage on the digital battlefield.
- The Architecti Mentis (Architects of the Mind): A unique branch that uses Force-sensitive agents, often under the direct supervision of Brotherhood, to extract information, manipulate individuals, and seed false narratives. They are experts in psychological warfare and subtle coercion, turning enemies into unwitting pawns in the Diarchy's grand strategy.
Network Ranks:
The Network's ranking structure reflects its hierarchical and militaristic nature. Advancement is based on merit, loyalty, and proven effectiveness.
Enlisted Ranks:
- Tiro (Recruit): New recruits undergoing initial training.
- Speculator (Observer): Field agents responsible for gathering basic intelligence.
- Nuntius (Messenger): Primarily responsible for communication and logistics.
- Investigator (Investigator): More experienced field agents, capable of conducting investigations and handling informants.
- Censor (Evaluator): Analysts responsible for processing and evaluating intelligence.
- Praefectus Regionis (Prefect of the Region): Junior officers in charge of a local intelligence cell.
- Tribunus Sectoris (Tribune of the Sector): Mid-level officers responsible for overseeing multiple local cells.
- Legatus Arcani (Legate of Secrets): Senior officers in charge of a specific department within the Network, like the Exploratores, or Silentiarii.
- Dux Codicum (Leader of the Codes): A specialist officer in charge of the Custodes Codicum.
- Magister Mentis (Master of the Mind): A specialist officer in charge of the Architecti Mentis. This is a prestigious position, often held by a high ranking member of the Brotherhood.
- High Adjudicator: The overall commander of the Network, directly reporting to the Diarchs. This position demands absolute loyalty, strategic brilliance, and a ruthless commitment to the Diarchy's cause.
