It was early evening and Caelan sat on a bench outside of the house with datapad balanced on his knee, which was perched upward thanks to his foot also being on the bench. He was reading a story about Jedi and their exploits in the wider galaxy. Even though his mother had given up on the life of a Jedi to settle into the role of Queen, her attachment to that had always been something he'd shared. Maybe, someday, he could go and get training from them as well, and then when it was his turn to take the throne, they'd have a Jedi on it. That sounded pretty cool to him. He was certain his mother would allow it, but would his father?

Kita was doing whatever it was that she did in the evenings. Probably talking about her rifle with their father. He was a master marksman and an excellent hunter, which was something that Kita seemed to share with him. The twins seemed to react best to their biological opposites, which he found funny.

Or she could be sneaking up on him, he didn't know. While some twins possessed that connection between them, and he and Kita did as well, it never seemed to let him know when she was going to play a prank on him. Kind of unfair, that. Other twins always knew where each other was, but for him, it was like he never knew unless she was in trouble, and vice versa. Something outside of the fence made a bunch of noise and he looked away from his story to try and get a better look at what it was, but the noise died down almost as quickly as it came, and he he shrugged and went back to his book.

If he only knew what that night held...

Kita was probably at risk of developing a muscle spasm with the amount of smiling she was doing.

Their father had agreed to take her on a hunt for the first time since she'd picked up a rifle. She hadn't even asked; he extended the offer-- like he wanted her there, like he believed in her ability to keep up. It was enough to leave the girl beaming.

Most would count her obsession with marksmanship as something unbefitting of a Princess. Kita was forever grateful her parents never seemed too preoccupied with that notion. Besides, by every other metric she was doing astonishingly well to maintain the image of a prim and proper member of the royal family. The girl was quiet, polite, and carried herself with that careful reserve desired in any noble lady with a reputation to uphold. She would never feel the same weight Caelan carried as heir to the throne. The least she could do was play her part and not bring unwanted attention to their name.

Speaking of her twin brother...

"Caelan!" Without invitation she plopped down on the bench he was at and drew her knees to her chest, facing her brother with an unrestrained smile. Forgoing any attempt to mess him, she clearly had something to share, bubbling behind her lips with a poorly concealed eagerness. It was easy to let herself to excited around him when she'd otherwise fight to remain the stoic piece of porcelain she was supposed to be-- There was no expectation here. No judgment.

Her eyes flickered down to the data pad in the next moment, her head craning to see the screen, "Huh, and here I thought you were illiterate." She teased, "What are you reading?"

Surprise. Of course she managed to find him without him knowing she was even there. But, at the least, she didn't seem inclined to do anything other than sit on the bench and make herself known. That was a pleasant change of pace for her.

"Real funny, Kita," he said, rolling his eyes before offering a smirk. "I'd give you guesses on what I was reading, but I'm sure you'd get it on the first try since it's always the same."

He closed the datapad before she had the chance to see it. Not that he was hiding it. He really was almost always reading the same type of story. Anything about Jedi was his focus. Especially if the Jedi also happened to be royalty. There was something that fascinated him about how they managed to support the duality of both worlds. They could function as Jedi, but also served as leaders of their people, and they didn't even seem to struggle with it! Made him wonder why their mother had given it up. Maybe it was just that: she was a mother?

"What are you all excited about? You up to something? Do I need to watch my back?"

She didn't get that excited unless something was going on, and she was absolutely beaming and full to the brim with energy. Either he was in for a nasty surprise when he went to his room later or she'd gotten some good news about something. Hunting, maybe? He knew she wanted to go with their father on one of his hunts, but she hadn't been allowed to yet. Maybe that was about to change?
