Public The Nobody

There was a silence that filled the interrogation room. It was uneasy, incredibly tense, and with an aura of unpredictability. A glass two way mirror served as a wall on an otherwise concrete and secured unground location. Two camera's operated in opposite corners to catch all audio and visual of what was occurring. Yet what was seen by those that stood behind the mirror and what was captured by the camera's was a scene of equilibrium. In all of their years, the Police enforcing Dantooine had little trouble interrogating someone. More importantly the Dantooine Bureau of Intelligence, Masters of Psychology and Manipulation themselves, had never failed in reading someone.

That was until now. Law Enforcement was always used to having the upper hand in criminal situations yet as two Agents sat across from a battered, bruised, and exhausted man the only reading they could get was this was a man whom had finally been pushed past his breaking point.

Behind the unknown mans icy eyes they saw it. Someone who was still able to throw down, a man who did not fear a jail sentence, prosecution, or torture. With what had transpired in downtown Garang; it was a mystery how this single man had survived. Yet they had a job to do.

One man.

One woman.

Both wore black suits. Both were unarmed. Smart on their part as neither wanted to risk having a weapon that a suspect whom sat calmy and simply stared at them without saying a word, could use against them. Yet these two agents were selected by the Dantooine Government because of their ability to draw information from someone. The question was could they? Would they be able to break into the kind of a man whom was of the planet but out of his own era?

Well dressed meant nothing and being unarmed was just as dangerous as being armed; especially for a man that had managed to unshackle and free his wrists from the cuffs they tried latching him with to the table. At least they knew he was double jointed in both thumbs.

"Who are you?" The Woman asked.

Across from them was a man not just broken physically but mentally. He was tired. Tired of living. Tired of the bullshit that life brought. Tired of feeling alone in a time he did not belong. He lost everything. Battered and bruised. His body, his face, it all told the story. This man literally held no sense of self preservation.

"She asked you a question." The Male Agent spoke.

Their Suspect, whom sat across from them, said not a word as his fingers simply stroked a small puppy that ate from a plate the Agents had brought the animal earlier. He knew this game. Get him to talk and then slowly wear him down for questioning. That was a game the man would not entertain. Not by any means.

"This is ridiculous." The Female Agent huffed as she glanced at her partner.

The Male Agent leaned forward, "You know who we are don't you?"

Their suspect did.

"Tell me. Who are we?" The Agent asked.

Their Suspect said nothing. Instead his icy eyes stared coldly into the Male Agents; a testament that even in his injured state, their Suspect was the Alpha in the room.

"Alright I’m done playing games. We have you on several felony charges. Destruction of Government property. Murder of twelve Garang Police Officers. Murder of two security officers. Attempted Murder, destruction of private property, domestic terrorism charges, and a plethora of others that are pending. I can lock your ass away with nothing but this alone. You will rot in a cell until your trial where you will face the death penalty." The woman snapped.

Their suspect tilted his head and studied the woman. She was arrogant but smart. Not on the level of Quietus Quietus but close. Still foolish.

Their Suspect continued to stroke the puppy; his hand shaking uncontrollably from both a physical and mental trauma. It had gotten worse in recent months. The pain in his kidneys, the shaking in his limbs. It was one reason he left Honoghr. He couldn’t let Ereza see him like this. Not his Son, his Daughter in Law, nor a soul otherwise. Ibstead their suspect now spent his time eliminating threats to the family he served. Even cast aside; he was a loyal son of a b*tch.

Just as the woman was about to speak, each opened their phones as they rang.

"Yeah?" The woman snapped.

"Fontes." The man said.

As they each listened to a voices on the other end their eyes shifted to their suspect who simply looked back at them. Anger was on the woman’s face as she glared at their suspect. Shock and perceived numbness on the males. Both Agents had been blindsided. The case, all charges, everything vanished.

“Who the f*ck are you?” The Female Agent snapped as she slammed her hand on the table which startled the puppy whom rushed into their suspects arms.

“If you ever cause fear in my pup again, I will ensure they never find your body.”

The only words spoken by their suspect was through a deep, raspy and tired voice. Yet they all understood; he was serious in his threat.

“Let’s go before we’re reemed.” The Male Agent, collecting their paperwork and ushering his partner out.

As the door closed, the suspect stared at the mirrored wall; pondering just how upset everyone watching him was as the knew now he had some sort of connection that was so far above their heads, theyd spin in circles trying to understand everything that was happening.

Kat could feel the questioning eyes on her as she walked down the hall to the briefing room. She was used to this, considering her clothes and hairstyle were over a thousand years outdated. She couldn't help it. The woman was not from this time and that was partially why she was here.

She had been seeking information on all the individuals who were out of their time. There were more than one would have thought there should be but Katarine still did not understand why.

Another reason for the stares she assumed was because the man in the interrogation room had just been cleared of some very serious charges. Kat was not sure why that had happened but she knew her window to talk to him was closing. They would probably release him soon. Strictly speaking nobody else was supposed to go in there but a Jedi mind trick on a tired guard who had pulled a double shift fixed that.

The door to the small room opened and the guard let Katatine in. There could not have been more difference between the people who just left and the woman who had just walked in. Kat radiated such a sense of kindness it was a bit pathetic.

She smiled at the man, and noted he had seen better days. She walked towards the seat in front of him but stopped as a puppy suddenly stood in her way. Kat’s face split into a smile of pure joy and she bent down to pet the animal. The woman loved animals, something her twin had never understood about her.

She finished petting the puppy and walked the few steps remaining when a wave of dizziness washed over her. The darkside. It always effected her strongly thanks to a mutation in her DNA.

She took the seat and for a moment she just watched the man with her deep green eyes. Her precious minutes were ticking away. Any second they would let him go and discover her messing about, which would almost certainly land her in trouble. But he had not talked to the interrogators, and she knew there was nothing special about her that would make him want to converse. She wanted to understand why she was in this time period, but she didn’t know where to even begin with this question.

And still the seconds ticked by.

Finally she spoke in her soft musical voice with the only thing she could think to ask.

“What’s your puppies name?”
