Originally the members of the Noctus Brigade, uncommonly also known as the Noctus Legion despite not being a Legion, were bands of various pirates that operated within Old Imperial space throughout the Tion Cluster. These gangs of marauders and highwaymen eventually caught the attention of Sith Lady, Kära Vi'dreya, and after a prolonged campaign in which she rounded up the various pirate gangs into Imperial custody, she gave them an option. Either face the end of an Imperial rifle, or join a new paramilitary organization designed to board enemy vessels, and take them down from within.
Many chose the smart answer, and thus the Noctus Brigade (Known then as the Noctus Legion) was born, and while they reveled in their success against Republic and Mandalorian vessels, the hay day of the Empire was coming to a close. After the fall of the Old Empire, the Noctus Brigade saw little action, that was until the untimely demise of Lady Vi'dreya saw them without a benefactor, however; in her will she left command of the Noctus Brigade to the Epicanthix Sith Lord, Kaine Zambrano. Taking them under his wing, he made them part of the newly created naval arm of his private army, the Blackblade Guard, and they once again began to see action as the sixth year of the Imperial-Republic War dawned.
