The Odd Couple [Zak Dymo]

Voss
.. allow one time to reflect on life. She is still young, yet to experience life in greater capacity although she had gone through much. Abaigeal, different to her mother and yet not, there is a large piece of her within the tapestry of her being, that caring nature that had seen the establishment of much greatness in the Silver Jedi, to coming together of like minds with the same vision to create a family, and more as the pages of history will show.

She sit atop a rock in the river cascading down the small mountain on Voss, it is a place of beauty and serenity and full of life. The song of the river plays for her and her alone in this moment and as the waters eddy around her feet and sway gently back and forth, she allows the tranquility to settle her heart and soul. Abaigeal clears her mind of past and present will not entertain the future, but pushes off the rock and dives into the water gliding beneath the surface to wash away the woes of the galaxy, if only for a brief moment.

As she breaks the surface once more, she glides on her back allowing the current to take her a little before she find the bank of river to climb out and sit upon the moist grass. She suddenly gets the 'feeling' of being watched, maybe it is the night creatures curious of her, or wary that this strange being is in their territory. A few of call out, a warning maybe or simply search for loved ones of their own to come home safely..

Whatever their reason, it is nice .. a beautiful sound of love.

Sometimes playing was a lot of work.

Along the floor of the riverbed, the Nautolan was curled up with action figure figure in hand, dozing peacefully underneath the waters where he'd drifted off to sleep beneath the light of day. The stubbt head-tails fanned out from his head, undulating and moving with the motion of the river as though they were an anemone.

One of those head-tails twitched, jerking back in an instinctive reaction as vibrations triggered a response. Something moving. Something large. The sensation roused the aquatic youngling from sleep. The child shuddered, stretching as bubbles trickled from out of his mouth as he yawned under water. Dark, smokey eyes fluttered open, as he boy was perplexed for a moment why it was dark out.

Had he fallen asleep?

The Nautolan child pushed off the riverbed, rising up through the dark waters until his head had broken the surface. Twilight painted the jungle and mountains in shadow, as stars shone radiantly overhead. Sniffling, the youngling brought a hand up to wipe at his nose. Then there was a series of spashes, as the boy shook out his head-tails to clear his gills. Paddling along the surface, the boy stepped out of the river and onto the shore. Two small toys were tucked into one hand as he peered around to get his bearings.

"Oh..", came a soft whisper as she saw Zak come out of the water. He would not have heard her, but she kept mindful of him as it appeared she had disturbed him, but what is he doing out here? Yes he is aquatic, but this time night seemed strange for a youngling to be alone in the dark, not in the safety of the Temple. Abaigeal reached for her shirt, although she is clothed it is more prudent to be covered in the presence of children. She slipped her arms through her sleeves and quickly buttoned up the front, she kept an eye on him as he came close and not wanting to frighten him with a sudden 'hello', she gently made her presences felt through the force.

A few moments later and she spoke. "You are Zak aren't you?. I have seen you around the Temple", she smiled. "What you doing out here, so late?".

She pattered the grass next to her, to invite him to sit by her, clearly he is at a loose end, or something and why was he allowed out? Where were his parents? "I am Abaigeal".

The small boy hadn't gone very far when he'd stumbled across someone out here.

Stretching, with a large yawn, the youngling blinked his eyes sleepily several times as he looked up at the dark haired woman. "I was playing by... like, in the river, and I fell asleep," the child supplied, with another yawn.

Being nine years old was a lot of work. There was fort building. And swimming. And homework. And more swimming. And imagination play. And more swimming.

And sometimes naps.

...and, everything in the forest looked a lot different at night. As a Nautolan, Zak's eyes were adapted to low light. But like most facets of his anatomy, his eyes were intended for looking at things under water. Which wasn't a lot of help outside of it. "Which... which way is the temple?" the boy asked sleepily, turning in a circle as he tried to get his bearings.

She pushed off the ground and brushed herself off. Abaigeal gathered the rest of her clothes and pulled on her trousers and shoes. The young Zak seemed to be a little confused as one is when waking up and uncertain of why he was there. "Here let me walk you back to the Temple. I need to leave as well". She hoped that once they began to walk he would clear his mind somewhat before finding his quarters in the Temple.

"It is rather late but maybe we could grab a bite to eat in the Mess before we head to our beds". The night cooled a little and around the forest mist began to creep through the trees crawling along the ground around them. It looked amazing in the moon light as it filtered down through the tree tops in split rays of white light. Some night creatures darted around the bushes disturbed by their footfalls but only put some space between them that made them comfortable enough to turn and watch the large beings pass.

Abaigeal soon found the path which would take them to the Temple steps but they still had a good walk. "It is very peaceful here among the trees, but I suppose you prefer the waters?".

The small youngling reached out to take the woman's hand as they walked.

Because reasons. Kids were 'sposed to hold adult hands for things like that. It made them feel safe. And with the dark forest of darkness darkly looming over the dark earth on which they walked in darkness, there was lots of reason why Zak wanted to feel safe. Er, make sure that she was feeling safe, that is.

"Uh huh," the child murmured, affirming what she'd said about preferring the water. "On... On Ossus, we had the Room of... of a Thousand Fountains and it... There was this whole, like, system of connected rivers, even underground, and so the aquatics even slept underwater."
