DESCRIPTION
[SIZE=11pt]The Olympus Medical Institution, founded by Idris Voahan, strives to become a driving force within the medical field, and a force of good in the galaxy. Most of their income comes from the sale of their pharmaceutical products, and most of their revenue is poured back into medical research to ensure they deliver the best medicine available to them. In addition to sales, a sizable portion of their overall credits comes from charity donations which OMI uses as a basis for their relief aid efforts. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]The company started out on Coruscant, the very heart of the galaxy. The Galaxy was full of those in need, but Voahan was very clear in his intent to expand the company’s reach beyond that of Coruscant. People suffered everywhere, but OMI was a start. The idea behind the decision to set up on Coruscant was that it had the largest population density, meaning if all they could afford was to set up one clinic, then they could reach way more of those in need from there. Since then they have expanded their operations to Alderaan as a direct result of the Sith Empire’s unprovoked assault on the planet, in an effort to help rebuild and heal. They have also set up research facilities on Glee Anselm. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]OMI seeks to offer both private and public solutions. They sell their supplies to pharmacies as well as hospitals, and where possible, reach an agreement with local governments to set up their own clinics which help treat sick people free of charge. Where unable to strike such accords with authorities, they provide private clinics with high-quality and affordable treatment. Above all, Olympus holds that all life is valuable and worth saving. They claim neutrality and hold no loyalty towards any government, and maintains that any credits received from various factions are by no means an endorsement but a means of setting up free health care for the citizens of various worlds. For example, their CEO has often expressed a bias against the Sith, while simultaneously pointing out how he finds it morally corrupt to hold their citizens accountable.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=11pt]OMI presents themselves as a benevolent corporation, whose maxims are reaching as many as possible, even the poorest, with high quality medical supplies. One of the aims of their research is to limit side-effects and addictions that other pharmaceutical companies might seek to exploit for their own financial gain. Their CEO has stated in an interview that he’s been inspired by the Order of the Sacred Lotus and the good work they have done, and wish to continue their project.[/SIZE]
