The High Oracle
D E F Y . E N T R O P Y

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To submit the Oracles as a unique species within The Sovereignty faction. This submission will define their biology, culture, and lore for character creation, roleplay integration, and faction worldbuilding within the Chaos galaxy.

GENERAL INFORMATION
- Name: Oracles
- Designation: Sentient
- Origins: Extra-Galactic (The Sovereignty's origin galaxy)
- Average Lifespan: 120-140 standard years
- Estimated Population: Scattered – A limited number of Oracles exist, mostly aboard Sovereignty ships or command structures.
- Description: Oracles are the enigmatic and robed technocratic priest-caste of the Sovereignty. Clad in sealed exo-suits adorned with sacred ornamentation, they obscure their alien physiology behind a mask of ritual and symbolism. They are revered as interpreters of the Pattern Eternal—a divine structure through which they guide their people with logic, prophecy, and spiritual authority.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
- Breathes: Type I (Standard Atmosphere)
- Average Height of Adults: 1.9 meters
- Average Length of Adults: N/A
- Skin color: Typically pale tones (gray, lavender, or blue-tinged), though rarely seen outside their suits
- Hair color: No natural hair; often hidden beneath biomechanical headgear
- Distinctions: Oracles usually possess three-fingered hands, digitigrade legs with two or three toes, and an elongated, reverse-jointed gait. Their faces remain concealed by ornate, featureless masks as part of sacred tradition. Their physical forms are biologically delicate but neurologically advanced, with brain structures optimized for data integration and symbolic cognition.
- Races: No known subspecies or ethnic divisions—Oracles are culturally and genetically unified through strict caste continuity.
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:
- Exceptional cognitive processing; Oracles are capable of parsing complex symbolic logic, predictive algorithms, and encrypted language with ease.
- Biotechnological affinity; they possess a cultural and biological interface with advanced machinery, able to commune with Sovereignty systems through neural-link rituals.
Weaknesses:
- Physically fragile and slow to adapt outside structured environments; their suits protect them from foreign atmospheres and infections.
- Socially and psychologically insular; their unwavering devotion to the Pattern Eternal can limit emotional insight and create conflict with more individualistic species.
CULTURE
- Diet: Omnivore, sustained by heavily processed nutrient pastes and alchemically sanctified infusions within their suits. Most Oracles view eating as a ritual, not pleasure. Ingesting food orally is rare, and usually only ritualistic
- Communication: Primarily through spoken ritual language and encrypted machine-code chant. Among themselves, they often transmit meaning via silent neural-link communion.
- Technology level: Far beyond galactic standard. The Oracles design, interpret, and consecrate Sovereignty technology as sacred artefacts of the Pattern Eternal.
- Religion/Beliefs: The Oracles are both priests and scientists, serving the Pattern Eternal—an abstract, divine structure believed to underlie all reality. To them, logic, mathematics, and prophecy are one and the same.
- General behavior: Oracles live structured, purpose-driven lives shaped by tradition and ceremony. They are not raised in families but grown and educated in collective sanctuaries, guided by older Oracles and sacred programming. Social interactions are formal and often layered with ritual, though many still form close bonds with peers through shared study, worship, and duty. While aloof to outsiders, Oracles are not emotionless—just deeply conditioned to express themselves through the lens of the Pattern Eternal. To the rest of the Sovereignty, they are spiritual guides, master technologists, and living symbols of divine order.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Oracles originated as a species of biologically advanced humanoids who, over centuries, merged their cultural evolution with increasingly abstract layers of technology and theology. As artificial intelligences and symbolic logic gained dominance in their society, the Oracles began to interpret machines not merely as tools, but as sacred vessels of truth.
Through centuries of self-guided cultural refinement, they abolished individuality in favor of spiritual function, encasing themselves in ceremonial exo-suits and committing their consciousness with a higher doctrine: the Pattern Eternal. They engineered the Warborn, Forged, and Unshapen castes to serve within this divine structure, placing themselves at its apex as interpreters of fate, order, and future.
Now, as the Sovereignty crosses the extragalactic void to enter the Chaos galaxy, the Oracles seek to impose their sacred order upon the stars. Yet something unfamiliar lies ahead—rumors of a pervasive energy known as the Force. Though the Oracles do not yet understand it, some among them have begun to sense irregularities in the Pattern... and fear what may come.
OUT OF CHARACTER NOTE
In an attempt to provide people with options for art assets that they can use for their characters that are a part of this species, I have chosen the Quarians of Mass Effect as the basis of their look. As a result, some elements of their description will have much in common with that species from a different fandom. This cannot be circumvented, but I hope that I have at least differentiated them by their personality and culture.
