The Ossus Academy

I'm about to post a thread on the Jedi boards that fleshes out the Academy on Ossus. Nobody has to stick to the script but if you want to use a meditation room, or use the hangar, it would be handy if we all had broadly the same view of the structures.

So why this post?

Because I have a good starting position from canon but it's lacking in detail. So when I post it, it will have sections that I would really appreciate it if others added to. For example, you don't have to be a Jedi to describe a hangar. You don't even have to be a Jedi to describe some cool meditation rooms.

Perhaps you have a gripe with the current facilities ([member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] hates the food I understand ;)) and would like to see an upgrade. That could lead to a thread - or just write what you want to see.

I'll start the thread proper in the next few days, I just wanted to give you the chance to put your thinking caps on.

YOUR TITLE IS MISSING AN 'S'!!!

*breeeeeeeeathes*

Okay, I'm good. I'm good. Honest. No, really. So, stuff. Hm. Well, here's what I can think of off the top of my head:

  • Living Quarters
  • Kitchens
  • Cafeteria/dining room?
  • Archives
  • Training Rooms
  • 'Supply closet(s)' for day-to-day stuff, training supplies (including droids and whatnot) 'weapons locker(s)'... and those indiscretions that SOME OF YOU GET UP TO.
*ahem* Moving on...
  • Council chambers/room (which are/is largely disused, now)
  • What's outside [somewhat steep front steps and lots of them, jungles (mix of endemic to Ossus and Vong), etc., water sources such as streams, rivers, lakes, and so on.]

Well, that's about all I could think of at the moment. Surely there are more things.

What do we think accommodation on Ossus would be like for the order.

I'm imagining dormitories for the younglings, cells (monastic style) for 2 to 4 Padawans, individual rooms for knights and above and probably slightly more roomy yet still modest spaces for masters?

Let us not forget the relatively newly constructed Jedi Shadow Enclave that is located in the woods within close proximaty to the main structure of the Academy. The link for it is here: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/40890-structure-jedi-shadow-enclave/

And the description is posted below! Just keep in mind, if anyone stumbles upon it, it is disguised as an Agricorp building.....and I wouldn't try getting in without an invitation ;)

When one enters from the front, they go through a small security checkpoint that scans the for listening devices. From there they follow a corridor down to the main chamber, which is a meditation room with a large stone waterfall in the center surrounded by several trees. Three corridors lead away from this room. Immediately to the left is a corridor that leads to the training room. It is modest but well equipped with what a Jedi would need to train with lightsabers or force powers, plus it has some additional equipment for Shadow training (e.g., security consoles to hack). Down the right corridor are the living quarters. There are a number of facilities here, including a mess hall. Finally, down the corridor straight ahead, there is another security checkpoint and then a lift that leads down into the basement. The basement houses the command center, where mission debriefings occur and meetings are held. This room is directly connected to the tunnel that leads back to the lower levels of the Ossus Academy. The tunnel itself has a checkpoint at the entrance and the exit of the tunnel and is restricted to use by only the highest ranking of Shadows.

Actually sparring droids are a great idea. Could you post here and give me some ideas of what sort of droids we should have...

Thanks :)

Hai there,

What kind of droids would be great to have in the academy.

The sparring droid
One would be the standard sparring droids. The sparring droids would be based on different kind of levels for which the Initiate and padawans are at.
Example: Level one, learning to block and footwork, the droid will only slash his weapon horizontal and vertical
The higher the droid is being set on level the more realistic, he will fight.

The instruction droid
Another kind of droid is maybe a bit too advance, but it would be a droid that can instruct in basic weapon combat, through scanning, analysing and observing the student's form.

The room itself
The room would be colored completely with white tiles and many lights with camera's around the arena, for each arena there would be placed in a height on the ceiling so all sides can be recorded. At the side of each arena, there will be a holo terminal where the Padawan/ Initiate/ Knight/ Master?! Where they can look over the entire fight from all perspectives.

Different droids that could also walk in the academy.
  • The trashcan droid
  • Library droid in order to look for books
  • Medical droids
  • Personal droids for master? Who have their own office within the academy

I am pretty much awful at thinking of these kind of things! I am a mecha-deru user though so the droids will most likely be coming from me also through time! =3 Hence why the droid army is coming.

In case you're wondering, this is still going ahead and has developed a life of its own. Corvus is currently touring an OP facility called The Pit. A starte of the art training center that allows for large scale manoeuvres in all terrain and all weathers.

So we can incorporate that. But by the end of the week I'll have the bones of the Academy fleshed out in the appropriate place (which is code for I haven't worked out where to put it yet).

And then it can grow and evolve. I imagine the variant of the Pit to be underground, so as not to spoil the gardens.

I've been doing a bit of writing that hasn't gone up yet, during I have been speculating that the temple has two archives, the upper archive with all the force lore/artifacts whatever, and a larger lower archive thats partially subterranean which stores a vast amount of mundane texts/info/relics/records.

I also thought an orchard would be interesting addition as well.
