Crisis Over Belsavis

While the Second Great Hyperspace War begins to heat up within the galactic-north, yet another conflict threatens to boil over from a developing crisis over the planet of Belsavis. Over the past few centuries, Belsavis was ruled by a constitutional monarchy which provided its citizens with a level of peace and stability. As the Confederacy of Independent Systems began growing more and more unstable prior to its total collapse, a growing collective of noblemen and military hardliners began to see for themselves an opportunity to potential seize power for themselves. This quickly led to a full scale civil war within days of the CIS’s collapse between those who supported the monarchy, and a nationalist movement known as the ‘Belsavan Unity Front’; who sought to oust the ruling dynasty and impose a military junta on a planet-wide scale, as well as to nationalize the economy under the pall of potential financial upheaval given the events framing the aforementioned collapse.

For nearly four years thereafter, Belsavis was separated from the events of the galaxy at large as it became a microcosm of the bloodshed capable of being inflicted on society by virtue of modern technology. Millions were killed in the fighting, including almost all of the members of the royal family, along with many key members of the ‘Unity Front’ movement. Eventually, the treasonous nobles and military leaders would prevail, forcing the last surviving member of the monarchy - a woman by the name of Sarillia - to flee into exile within the Elysium Empire.

As she attempted to gain support for her cause to liberate the people of Belsavis from the totalitarian rule of those who murdered herfamily, Sarillia would soon learn about the advancing tide that is the Eternal Empire’s war machine descending upon the shattered remains of the former CIS. After pleading her case vehemently before the court of King Rex Valhoun himself, she would soon depart Elysium space at the head of a hastily assembled armada - with the hopeful queen desperate to rush to the defense of her people. Despite the efforts she expended to do so, they would be in vain as she would witness the vanguard of the Eternal Fleet establishing a blockade over her world upon the Elysium Armada’s arrival into the system - with both fleets arraying themselves in a state of readiness against each other.

This has given rise to a potential crisis, with both Empires becoming embroiled in a standoff over the fate of Belsavis, and likely the future of its people. Would it join the Eternal Empire’s ever-expanding CIS territories, or would it remain free?

kPoUqEV.png
Objective 1: Aggressive Negotiations
As the Eternal Empire finishes establishing a blockade around the planet, the Elysium Empire’s fleet assembles on the outskirts of the system. Senior representatives of the Eternal Empire have invited a delegation from both the ruling Belsavan Junta and the Elysium Empire to supposedly resolve this developing crisis diplomatically- with the meeting slated to take place aboard the Eternal Fleet’s appointed flagship for this operation - the ENS Retribution.

Much hangs in the balance at the prospect of this meeting, including either the peaceful transition of sovereignty of the planet into the fold of the Eternal Empire, or what would likely amount to yet another bloody encounter above the historically beleaguered planet.

DBJmv9f.png
Objective 2: Gone to Ground
While negotiations proceed aboard the Retribution, the situation is beginning to deteriorate planetside. Needless to say, the Belsavan Unity Front is resistant to the idea of foreign occupation, with the people themselves adopting a mixed viewpoint overall. Many amongst the populace long for the days of the former monarchy, as well as a return to the freedoms they once enjoyed. Naturally, the nobility and corrupt military officials would refuse to give up their recently acquired power over the planet, and still others comprise a minority of those who believe things would be better under the stability and relative peace of the Eternal Empire.

In preparation for what would likely be a bloody takeover of the planet at large, the Unity Front has begun taking extensive measures to fortify themselves against the overwhelming might of the Eternal Fleet. Intelligence centering around the deployment of additional surface-to-air defensive emplacements, and the conscription of citizens into forced military service have arisen to the notice of STRATCOM, as well as the Elysium Empire’s representatives.

Given the sensitive nature of the developing situation, contractors within the Black Sun and specialist operatives within Blackwatch have been deployed to infiltrate the planet below, with directives to disable and subdue whatever measures they can, and eliminate key figures of the Junta’s ruling party so as to ease the eventual deployment of the Eternal Empire’s occupation forces.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Elysium Empire have been able to successfully bypass the blockade in secret, with a missive from Sarillia herself to secure the exfiltration of key figures loyal to her cause who have gone to ground, so as to prevent potential ‘unforeseen casualties’ or ‘convenient disappearances’ affected by either the Eternal Empire or the Junta’s vengeful death squads. Neither side knows that the other is deployed upon the planet, and if possible - neither side wants that to change.

K4QI0Gh.png
Objective 3: Reprisals

At the outset of the Eternal Empire’s deployment of their orbit-wide cordon, Belsavis’ orbital defense station hastily opened fire upon the first few vessels that approached to establish the blockade. While military action is being postponed upon Belsavis itself until the meeting has drawn to a close, the hostile intention of those manning the orbital defenses is beyond question given they have refused to respond to any hailing attempts by either the Eternal or Elysium Empire’s forces. Elite Ultranaut units have been deployed with support from Wardens of the Shroud to eliminate all hostile forces aboard the station and seize control.

While the station contains significant orbital defenses, it is not exclusively a military outpost - as it contains a normally-bustling starport that hosts thousands of civilian travelers on any given day. Although Eternal Imperial forces have received the strictest of orders to avoid civilian casualties, and have recently established a reputation in doing so; Elysium forces have also clandestinely deployed on the opposing side of the station with orders to evacuate any civilians and non-combative military personnel aboard the station with the utmost of haste.

The rules of engagement for both sides are to avoid any overt military actions against one another if it can be helped. But with the chaos surrounding the action taking place within the station, both skirmishes and confusion are likely to abound nonetheless. Proceed with caution, lest a war emerge through a simple misstep.

OBJECTIVE: I - Aggressive Negotiations
LOCATION: Aboard the ENS Retribution in orbit above Belsavis
TAG: Open

There was a time in which the skies over Belsavis, precluding the occasional inclement weather, were crystal blue and beautiful to the eyes. One could gaze up at the stars and get lost within them - engulfed with a sense of wonder and contentment under the influence of its monarchy. Ever since the fall of the Confederacy however, peace had eluded Belsavis. It started with the ouster of its rightful ruling dynasty, but it would end with the arrival of the Eternal Fleet.

One fateful day, scores of ships bearing the colors of the Eternal Empire emerged from lightspeed and quickly set about establishing a cordon around the planet. Overwhelmed by the sheer firepower brought to bear in its ‘liberation’, the Belsavan forces largely stood still - unwilling to fire the first shot in an exchange that would likely result in the planet’s total decimation. While the planet’s fate seemed all but certain, the galaxy had a tendency of intervening at the most inconvenient time. Extra-sector patrols reported the approach of forces from the Elysium Empire; a report which caused Overseer Reinhardt Ström’s brow to furrow as he sipped caf while reviewing data on his personal terminal within his chambers.

Normally, a man of his station would not concern himself with the integration of yet another world within the Eternal Empire. His purview was more far-reaching and upper level than one mere planet. Yet, Belsavis was different. Intelligence sources suggested that the Elysium Empire was already at work in influencing events on the world of Belsavis, to the potential end of effecting the installment of the last known surviving member of the Belsavan Royal Family. Naturally, the arrival of the Eternal Fleet would likely spark a confrontation with the other Imperial power, and with the Empress busy with other pressing matters of state - it fell upon his shoulders to represent her interests.

The prospect of a military confrontation was not necessarily off of the table, yet he would attempt to avoid it if he could. Despite the few disagreements he held in confidence with himself regarding the Empress’s latest diplomatic moves, the Eternal Empire as a whole was successful in threading the metaphorical needle in statecraft. They were currently at war with one major galactic entity in the Mandalorian Enclave, as well as with the existential threat that was the Maw. The Eternal Armed Forces had grown exponentially, and projected its Empire’s strength throughout the Outer Rim in a bid to expand her borders. But could the Empire afford yet another war? While Ström felt confident in his nation’s capabilities as a whole, he also knew from experience that underestimating a rival power was a fatal sin that usually relegated whole Empires to the annals of historical oblivion.

The Elysium Empire was no exception.

They had also experienced a sort of ‘golden age’ as of late, from what he could tell. Based on further intelligence reports from an asset who went by the callsign of ‘Cirrus’, the Elysiums had been successful in forming official diplomatic relations with the Silver Jedi Concord; establishing an agreement of mutual collaboration and trade benefits. Clearly, their policy of isolationism had ended, and they had proven themselves willing to involve themselves in galactic politics.

All of this ran through Ström’s mind as he reflected upon the best way to proceed with the inevitable arrival of the Elysium fleet. Finally, he leaned over to his desk-mounted comm unit and opened the line to the Retribution’s bridge.

”Commodore Praxxis?”

”Yes, my lord?”

”Relay orders to the Vanguard fleet. Finalize the mobilization of the blockade over Belsavis. Weapons are restricted to an ‘as needed’ basis to enforce the cordon, as we will delay invasion procedures until further notice. Is that clear?”

”Yes, my lord. Anything else?”

”Yes. Notify me when the Elysium Fleet arrives.”

The conversation ended with a dutiful ‘It shall be done’ by the Commodore, who turned from his command blister and relayed the orders to his bridge crew. All manner of vessels available to the Eternal Fleet were present over Belsavis - in quantities sufficient to be seen from the planet surface. Eternal-class Star Destroyers supported by Demeton-class Cruisers, Tally-class Flak Frigates and Ashkelon-class Escort Frigates. Coda-class Assault Frigates formed the backbone of the blockade, with massive Apocalypse-class Battlecruisers occasionally interlaced within. Whomever would arrive in the system would be greeted by the vanguard of a full-fledged invasion force waiting for them - an outward display of the power the Eternal Empire could marshall.

Ström could not think of a better backdrop to engage in negotiations.

Rex was tired. He hadn't gotten any sleep in the past two days, an emergency transmission from Grand Admiral Keatoch revealed that there was a situation on Belsavis. The Eternal Empire was involved, blockading the planet and keeping The Elysium Empire away. It was nothing short of a standoff and one misstep could mean war. It was bad enough that The Imperial Bloc of The Empire was already calling for war just off the basis that The Eternals had intervened to begin with. The amount of maneuvering involved in Elysium politics could give even the wisest, most patient man a headache and a temper.

But now The Eternal Empire had opened negotiations, and Rex was late as always, thanks to a primary hyperdrive failure that slowed him down considerably. It would be irritating on
any journey to be delayed by some eight hours, but it was especially vexing when the journey was leading to something as important as this. The fate of not only the two empires, but perhaps even The Tython Accord itself was at stake. If two members of the coalition were to come to blows, what would stop other reluctant allies from turning on each other?

Rex wondered why the coalition was named The Tython Accord. Tython wasn't the only planet at risk. It seemed more fitting to give the group a better name, one representing the galaxy, not a single planet. Perhaps he could make such an arrangement. But first he needed to settle this dispute.

Divider12.png

Later
At last, we've made it. Rex thought as his transport exited hyperspace, docking in a Unity Class Star Destroyer, HMS Csilla.

The ship was the flagship of Grand Admiral Keatoch, The best Admiral of The Elysium Empire with a list of victories in battle rivaling many modern admirals. The Grand Admiral was one of three people responsible for The Empire's great relations with Mandalore, Rex's wife Loreena being the most important to this relation, thanks to her Mandalorian heritage and her ownership of MandalArms.

After switching transports, Rex made the jump to hyperspace again, this time it was a short jump thanks to the proximity of Belsavis to Keatoch's battlegroup.
"Alright, lets slow down and make sure they know we're here. Announce that our fleet is close behind so we don't scare them with our arrival..."

The Empire was in no condition for a war. Not yet. While Rex's reforms were a massive success, and more were planned, there was still too much corruption, MandalArms had barely gotten back on its' feet since the bombings, The military was rebuilt but largely untrained apart from the stormtroopers, Lion knights, and handful of regiments that fought pirates and militias in limited engagements.

Force forgive me if this comes to war.

The SIN Cyaron saddled up beside the ENS Retribution and began docking procedures.

Tsubasa sighed heavily and rose from her position on the bridge of the smaller Sakuran vessel and began making her way towards the airlock. The Crown Princess had been sent in her mother's stead as a mediator in negations between the Elysium and Eternal empires. To say she was scared would be an understatement. This was the first time she was entrusted with a task like this on her own.

Well, not technically on her own, but on behalf of her people.

Kimiko was insistent her adoptive daughter take a more active role in Imperial affairs and this was a prime test run of the Crown Princess's abilities.

She would rather be in her fighter engaging in a dogfight in the vacuum of space...

Her thoughts caused the noble woman to giggle, eliciting a response from her chosen advisor/bodyguard, Umi Sonoda,"Tsubasa-hime, is everything alright? I have heard stress can induce strange reactions in different people."

Tsubasa waved her hand dismissively,"No no, I was just thinking. Come on Umi, this will be one of the LEAST stressful things I've ever done." she continued laughing, harder.

The two women turned down the corridor that led to the airlock, the seemingly long hall flanked by Imperial Guards, donning their ceremonial armor sets.

Tsubasa took a moment to straighten her hair and robes and focused as the hissing of the hatch was heard, revealing the Eternal Empire welcoming committee on the other side. She glanced at Umi, who gave a supportive nod and motioned for the Princess to take the lead.

She swallowed the lump in her throat and took her first step into the fray.

On the outside this would've seemed weird. Kalic was a rebel, fighting against an empire, yet right now he was also helping one. Wasn't that strange to him, but there was a reason he could only really scrounge up one ship, and an escort vessel at that. Yeah, he technically wasn't on either side and would probably get shot at by the Eternal Empire the moment they got close, all he had to do was make sure they didn't notice the freighters that broke off to assist the Elysium Empire with evac. And who knew, maybe if he was lu.... By the Force who was he trying to kid. Luck wasn't something he'd had on his side for a while.

"Sir. We'll be in sensor range soon."

"Oh. Right. Ok. Spector, Banshee, Spirit, turn on your jammers and let use get spotted. We'll wait onboard before taking off. Would rather not be shot at today, and maybe this cruiser has enough built they won't pay her an extreme amount of mind." With that, the freighters would break off. It wasn't much to help with an evac, but it was what he could get. Now he just had to wait and hope a lone escort cruiser wasn't too suspicious to to anyone. Could always say they lost their convoy.... Yeah that could work.

The ENS Mihaly dropped out of hyperspace not far from the ENS Retribution the advanced hyperdrive meant the ships of the blockade could be informed in advance precisely when and where the Overseer's ship would arrive to prevent and suprises. This was a sensitive diplomatic and military situation after all. Dr. Harris looked out the viewport at the planet of Belsavis below, it had quite a bloody history, it may be a big change, but it was clearly in the interest of the planet to sign a treaty to provide its people with stability and the protection of the empire.

She found herself standing on the small bridge area with her hands dutifully connected behind her back in her immaculate Hersir Uniform. "When did you become and Imperial?" she grinned and spoke quietly to herself. First she was a nomadic scientist for hire, then a scientist working with the empire, then for the empire, now she was well and truly part of the empire, she never thought she would feel so much pride in anything but her scientific endeavors.

Today she was here to accompany Baron Reinhardt Ström Baron Reinhardt Ström , the Military Overseer, he was here to speak directly on behalf of the Empress and Trinity would provide her assistance if necessary, it was unlikely to be needed, and was more likely that this would be a useful learninf experience for the newer Scientific Overseer. Trinity specifically was here to satisfy Imperial curiosity. The Elysium Empire was a relative unknown, the Eternal Empire had already gathered vast amounts of of factual information on them, that was a given, but to have a scientifically minded person in the negotiations would allow her to gather a greater insight into a potential enemy, one of her doctorates was after all, in anthropology, the study of civilisations.

Her ship docked, she marched with her guards down the boarding ramp in onward to meet her host.

...after a short intraship journey...

"Overseer Strom" Trinity greeted the man with her hand to her heart in the Imperial salute "Its good to be here, I hope I can be of use today, I have been fully briefed on the negotiations, but if there is anything that you personally would like to brief me on, I am all yours until the Elysium representatives arrive." Trinity was intimidated by the man, she was a scientist and he was a warrior, a much older and more experienced one at that and her elevation to such a high position as her own had drawn a few raised eyebrows.

Her biochip updated her with the sensor log from her own ship as the opposing ships entered the system, "Ah, looks like your guests have already arrived, maybe we should talk as we walk, I am not used to ships as large as this one, it is quite something." she smiled at the Baron and stepped aside for him to lead the way, there was certainly a lot of nerves in Trinity, but at least this wasn't her first high level meeting, having attended summits as part of the Empress's delegation before.

It wasn’t often that negotiations turn into such a hostile outcome before words could be exchanged. Especially after the Shrouds of the Warden were called for once to deal with the space station and resume control. It wasn’t like calling upon them was rare, but to issue a group of them meant that nobody was messing around in this endeavor. Rath certainly wasn’t going to turn away from this. Whether he was a soldier, a mercenary, bounty hunter, or even just a typical civilian. The Wardens was his calling at any moment, and frankly he was never the one to shy away from a fight.

Rath flew into the station with his personal Fireaxe ship, and the warden could feel the station filled with chaos. Discord reached into the hearts of many, and confusion spread like the plague. He donned his personal armor and stowed away his trusty blaster pistol at his left thigh. Over his shoulder was the hand and a half hilt of a leather wrapped handle that belonged to his personal weapon. Rath no longer hid his presence, in fact he magnified his presence in the Force as he induced fear throughout the ship. After all, if he can at least get the resistance to falter and crumble without losing their lives. Rath saw that as a win in his book, and less blood would be spilled. One could look at it as his own method of expressing mercy in a dark way.

As the ramp lowered down, Rath could just feel the fear as some of the would-be resistances mounted a barricade to divide the docking bay from the rest of the station. Rath wielded concentrated forms of kinetic energy that seemingly danced along his fingertips before erupting a shockwave along the floor towards the barricade. The station shuddered in turbulence as a result, and several of the shooters were knocked down from the violent vibrations. His dark armor bending the light as the nauseating sensation of dread filled in their minds. Each step Rath took to get closer, and the feeling only seemed to intensified when in reality it was their own fear that was bringing down their will power.

Fight or flight was triggered in the shooters as some fled deeper into the station while the others panicked as they fired rapidly at Rath. Yet when he drew the blade from over his shoulder to reveal the beskar, the dark warrior was akin to a nexu as his agile form weaved through the haphazard volley of blaster bolts and deflected the thermal bolts with his sword. The blood curdling screams as lives were snuffed out could be heard down the hall. Rath cut through them like a sickle to a field. The very blade seemed to be hungry for the Force as he simply wiped the blood off on some dead man’s jacket. A few blaster bolts here, a few more dead bodies there, and the docking bay was cleared for the Ultranauts to begin landing onto the station without hindrance.

Grand Inquisitor of the EOTL
Objective I: Aggressive Negotiations

Grand Admiral Keatoch Keatoch and his battlegroup were not the only Elysium naval forces present at Belsavis, the nascent XIII Battlegroup was there as well, shadowing the traditional battleship line of the Empire with thousands of strikecraft, although they were flying more in a holding stance, rather than an aggressive one. Screeching Owl Bombers, Flying Falcon Interceptors, Strike Eagle fighters, and even a few Argus SAWACs could be seen. Although it had seen only minor action thus far and its first major action would be the defense of Tython, it had been quite successful in the operations it had carried out, and in her opinion, would help her get to the highest halls of power which were necessary to her own goals.

Behind the scenes of Elysium unity, there was more at play in the political arena. Aculia had aligned herself with the relatively quiet, yet massive, Refugee faction within the Empire, and had on the low been employing and influencing large segments of that population within her own forces and the burgeoning Voland Military Enterprises towards her own ends. And those ends were quite at odds with that of the warlike and authoritarian Imperial faction-at least, in regards to the limits of present Elysium expansionism and the amount of power Rex Valhoun Rex Valhoun held over the government. And thus they were here today to make their presence known, if subtly, and hopefully avoid a conflict they did not think would benefit the Empire in any way.

It was not as if she and her supporters were not sympathetic to the situation of the people of Belsavis. They themselves had been driven from their homes through years of conflict between corrupt regimes, authoritarian regimes, oligarchic regimes, and sometimes all of them combined. At the same time, however, Belsavis was quite a long way from their own present borders, almost halfway across the galaxy from them. The Eternal Empire, for its part, while far from what Aculia and her little political faction considered to be a great and desirable place to live, was far from the most insane and ruthless regime the galaxy had right now. And if played right, perhaps bygones could be considered bygones and an understanding of sorts could be forged. After all, there was another galactic power far closer to them and not known for their love of peace…

The Mandalorian Enclave.

They had been expanding directly next to the Empire’s borders in a relatively aggressive and quick fashion. Although they had not yet made any openly hostile moves against the Elysians, their latest territorial expansion quite literally formed a dagger aiming at the center of the Imperial heartland. That was a major problem for her and those of the Refugee bloc, who had begun to coalesce around the idea of defensive imperialism-that is, they did not wish for war, but the center of the Empire must be protected at all costs, and if that meant future conflict or an adjustment of diplomatic relations to ensure such, then so be it.

Whatever issues that their Queen Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun might have had with the Eternals in her youthful and colorful past, the fact of the matter was that they had keeping the Mandalorian Enclave’s forces occupied in the Second Great Hyperspace War, and even though those two were likely to sign a temporary ceasefire there for the defense of Tython, she could not imagine there was much love between them. And that tension meant that Mandalorian opportunities for growth towards Elysian territory would be stunted, and more time would be given to train and build up the Elysian forces to repel them should they decide to move against them...and more territory could be acquired to defend the precious center where their loved ones and families lived.

Perhaps one of the hatchets between the two empires could be buried today. Maybe something could be done for those on Belsavis with the negotiations, maybe a population transfer for those who did not wish to submit to Eternal Empire rule-after all, would it not benefit them to simply have any who resist their rules pack up and leave, making their consolidation of the planet that much more simple in the end, once the irritating local Belsavin junta was dealt with? And the Elysians, and specifically her, would benefit from a large influx of refugees who would be ever so grateful to the Empire. There did not have to be war.

It was thus was all these things in mind that Aculia, leaving command and battle plans with her XO Captain Severin, had decided to accompany Rex with a small, handpicked honor guard of her own 31st Elysium Marines detachment, whom she had personally vetted to weed out any of the Elysian’s own intelligence operatives from being in. They were there to protect her, but also to ensure that Rex did not lose it or was otherwise “whipped” by his wife into letting her grudge against the Eternals impact Elysian foreign policy. She was grateful for the opportunities he had given her…but she had people to take care of and think of now as well. She hoped to “guide” him towards the correct decisions today.

It was also a chance to make connections within the Elysian Empire itself. She had not had much time to find allies for her agenda between organizing the Refugee bloc, running her own company, dealing with military issues, and running operations. She had heard Kimiko had similar reservations around Rex’s actions on Lionus and Nejidi as her, and while she was not there today, her daughter was as well. Perhaps, by befriending the daughter, she could make inroads towards the mother, and see if she was amenable to putting a bit of a “collar” on Rex’s behavior and ambitions.

It was thus that she and her small entourage in her shuttle arrived on the ENS Retribution behind the Akarun Empress’s daughter, Aculia decked out in her full, formal admiralty wear, rather than her typical more relaxed robes. Stepping into the ship with her guards, a sudden thought struck her.

When we were negotiating with the Silver Jedi, there was that man…he was not insane enough to be a Mawite, was willing to murder for whoever he worked for, and was quite skilled in the Force. Did not seem to harbor Mandalorian ‘ethics’ or the ethics of the more democratic powers in the Galaxy either. That does not leave many other major powers out there…I wonder…

She pursed her lips thoughtfully.

Would he be here today? Or perhaps down on the planet? If he is who he might be, were these Eternals watching us long before today? And if so, what was their endgame?

She supposed she would find out today. For now, be friendly to Rex, but especially Kimiko Taiyou Kimiko Taiyou 's daughter, and see if things could be resolved peacefully.

The Battalion

Another Brick in Syd's Wall
Wearing: Channeler's Skin

Consort's Ring

Armed with: Elaine Tear's Lightsaber (Corrupted)

Objective: BYOO (Secure Jedi Holocron, survive ambush)

Earlier, Khemost.

The Battalion watched the way the City of Midas glittered beneath the snow in some spots as she moved through the snowy streets, watching construction crews restore old systems. The blizzard made communication systems over long range difficult even in the best of times, so a series of towers had been set up around the city to facilitate messages via lights and colored smoke. Old industrial facilities had been excavated and refurbished. Of course, the primary concern had been making sure every Citizen, Organic or Mechanical, had a place to stay.

Midas had been a Fortress City set up by Darth Mammon, Khemost's previous ruler. Every place had been built to withstand orbital bombardment in theory And indeed, they had found many buildings to be quite intact. But so many more required full refurbishment. But the Citizens and leadership worked day and night to restore the rest of the city.

The Battalion stopped as she beheld Xiphos aiding the Citizens by telekinetically lifting a massive pile of rubble away from a snowed over, wrecked street, carefully setting it aside. Xiphos hated the idea of not interacting with her own citizens as much as possible whatever her other (many) eccentricities.

It was the part that fascinated and confused her. If she had still been purely Elaine, she would have understood it fully. But a part of her she thought long dead, and recent doubts Xiphos had succeeded in planting in her head (and lowering her Will Saves) was causing her to reassess Xiphos's approach. It was even starting to affect other Cultists...even vets who knew better.

The Cult of The Brain Demon had long talked about having a concrete say in a society. Any society would do. That way, they could really test their theories (Phyre's theories, I might add) about what Society would be like if it were allowed to choose having the Dark Side in their lives without coercion or threats of punishment for refusing it. If it were allowed to just be there, always as an option.

And then, Xiphos had given them exactly what they had desired...

...and they were not reacting in the ways even they believed they would.

She shivered in ecstasy as she felt the frosty spirit of her lover caress the mass of evil minds she was composed of, and sent back a white hot flare of passion to Xiphos before using Force Flight to float over to her as she finished lifting away another peace of rubble. Organic and Mechanical Citizens then filed through.

"Always such a busy body..." The Battalion mused.

"Khemost isn't gonna settle itself..." Darth Xiphos remarked, brushing away snow from an already snow white (and the 007 dwarves) visage.

Her eyes slid down and noticed her Consort wore a different Catsuit than the the usual all white she saw Brain Demon Cultists wearing. It had black gloves and boots.

"Nice outfit. What's with the black?"

A black covered hand reached out and traced the contours of Xiphos's chin.

"Because my hands are for strangling in your name, Julia..." The Battalion trailed.

"And the boots?" Xiphos asked.

"For stomping their brains out afterwards..." The Consort answered with a cold smirk.

"I do so enjoy it when all of you talk dirty..." Xiphos joked, clutching her Consort by the waist and teleporting them to a nearby roof.

The Battalion smiled, feeling Xiphos's robotic fingertips gently tapping against her spine and pulling her towards the Heretical Sith, a kiss on her lips and neck soon after.

"You know, there isn't a need for you to be out here personally..."

"I won't hide in the back and let my citizens do all the work. This is a joint effort. We work together."

"Xiphos, you have to take some time out for yourself...I don't think you've really had a rest at all in months..." The Battalion advised sincerely, running finger through black hair.

"I can't rest..." Xiphos replied. "What's being done is too important."

"We're all worried about you, just so you know." The Battalion confessed.

"I know, Elaine." Xiphos replied, touching The Battalion's sharp cheekbones. "I'm lucky to have you worrying about me."

"I still remember the day I first saw you, at Ziost..." The Battalion mused, closing her eyes as Xiphos's fingers brushed gently over her face.

"So proud and defiant...it was the look, you know. The look in your eyes. That's when I realized you weren't some toy I could just wrap around my finger like Amy wanted and call it a day..."

"Do you ever regret me not being a toy?"

"Oh, darling, you're way more fun than any toy...and I still get to play with you..." The Witch hissed in a lust filled tone.

The pair kissed passionately for the next few seconds, the Battalion forcing herself to pull away.

"I'll be gone for a little while..." she whispered.

"Cult business?" Xiphos asked, kissing her cheek repeatedly.

"No...it's... personal..."

"How so?"

"The Holocron I used to train myself when I was still a Jedi has been located on Belsavis...I am going there to destroy it."

Xiphos blinked. "Why, Elaine?"

"Because my human self reminds me of...stuff..." The Battalion answered. "You know know which stuff."

"There's no need."

"There absolutely is..." the Battalion insisted. "When I was reborn, Phyre ordered me to kill my students, to sever ties with my human self. I let you use my human name because...well, my title can be a bit of a mouthful at times and I...I like...the intimacy..." she explained hesitantly.

Xiphos thought about it a second.

"Is Phyre ordering you to destroy the Holocron now? Or is it compulsion?"

Now it was The Battalion's turn to think about it...

...and she couldn't form an answer...at least, not one that satisfied herself...

"I made my own morality, Elaine..." Xiphos trailed, cupping the back of the Witch's head with her cybernetic hand, running a finger over The Consort's jawline, making The Battalion close her eyes, enjoying the sensation.

"Maybe you should start ad-libbing yours..." Xiphos suggested, coiling spiritually around The Battalion's gestalt consciousness.

The Battalion kissed Xiphos again.

"I'll think about it..." she trailed.

Then she grinned.

"Snowball Fight?" The Battalion offered.

Darth Xiphos grinned.

"Snowball Fight..." Xiphos confirmed.

The pair were suddenly gathering clumps of snow and hurling them at each other...

Present...

The Military Base being used by the Belsaven Unity Front had been fortified heavily in one of the larger metropolitan areas had yet to be reached by either Eternal or Elysium Empire operatives.

That suited her just fine. She was the only representative of House Io on the planet currently. She preferred it that way.

It was an Advanced Model 1 that had reported the situation. The ones who didn't want to be in the Eternal Empire had found it during some sort of excavation. She had no idea at all how it had gotten here of all places...it had firmly been in the hands of the Kaissereich during the Gulag Era. But she intended to find out.

("Half of Everything is Luck" by Eric Serra Plays)

As her ship, a TIE Reaper called Ession's Shadow streaked over the base to intense anti aircraft fire she leapt out of the Hatch, flying downward at high speed, leaving it to be piloted by a House Mercenary Droid. This was to be a shock and awe attack, hit hard and fast.

Nobody was going to miss some random Junta.

The Force Lightning Ball coalesced in her palm as she flew down and she hurled it at an AA Cannon. It traveled slowly, bit was packed with energy, giving it's operator just enough time to scramble out as it hit, though the detonation was powerful and he was shredded by the blast.

The Battalion landed right in the middle, the suit she wore giving a massive surge in power to her Psychic Flames, enabling them to do lethal physical as well as mental damage.

A blast of purple flames erupted from her throat as she breathed on the first crowd of Junta Troops to fire on her as she deflected blaster bolts. Her flesh shuddered, metabolizing their suffering as they burned alive...

The game was on...

Sultry, humid air and weather, tropical climate. All that was missed was the beautiful beach. However, as I stopped here by the runway and looked into the distance, I saw the jungle and the huge rock walls. And the rock walls are snowy. I was in a tropical "arena" surrounded by ice and frost everywhere. This planet is incredible! Almost the entire ice planet with huge circular craters, but with a typically tropical climate in them. It was as if everything and everyone was haywire here. I have no idea how this was possible.

Now I didn't have armour or anything like that; I walked down the ship's ramp in completely average clothes. As if I wasn’t even a Mandalorian, just a tourist. If all is true, now I have come to the planet exceptionally not for work. As a matter of fact, Arturo Braga Arturo Braga is quite vague about this. So I have to say, I was pretty curious. Last but not least, this is my first time here at Belsavis.

I just missed my knight, Arturo. I got here earlier than we agreed, luckily there wasn’t too much traffic around the planet. And of course, my contracts were good enough for me to let me land here without major problems. I was able to present the contract with them to the Eternal Empire and the bounty hunter licence to the local authorities. The bureaucracy will take me to the grave once, but not today. I mean, I really hoped not today.

I looked around the open spaceport, it wasn’t too much traffic either. The city here wasn’t exactly the biggest on the planet either, but somehow I didn’t mind not having to come right into the middle of the biggest hustle and bustle. And soon my knight arrived. I smiled at him, waved at him, then went there to greet him. If he let me, I kissed him as a greeting.

"Are you telling me now why we're here?" I asked him.

Oh, they were here. Back home, in the Netherworld, they heard some interesting information that there may be some interesting finds in this place. This time, the Shadowcat was not interested in any Sith relics, artefacts and finds, but rather in the technological wonders of the other species found on this planet. And this was nothing but a fragment of the remains of the ancient Rakata Empire. They didn’t know how much they could find here, but they were curious.

Before they came here, they read what they may find here. They knew it was a kind of teleportation system that was still operational to this day. They actually found this very fascinating and interesting. They were curious. But simple ruins, computers, sculptures also piqued their interest. Maybe they'll find something, no matter how small. It could have been anything interesting for them.

They arrived in a barren area from the Netherworld where there was really nothing. That is, this was not entirely true. There was no jungle or anything like that in this place, there were huge lava flows here and lava groves surrounded by snowy territory. It was just as much in a circular "pool" as most habitable areas. But there really wasn’t a city or anything like that here. The air couldn’t really be inhaled because it was toxic, though that didn’t really bother Shadowcat. They didn't need air.

There were various vaults built into the rock wall in this place, most of them Sith, but there was also one that was characteristic of the Rakatan Empire. Dis hovered there to one of the Rakata ruins, invisible and immaterial for now. They hadn’t sensed anyone nearby yet, so they decided to go into the vault.

It was time to expand their knowledge…

The harbor was filled with heavy boots stampeding from their respective boarding ships. Several Ultranauts armed to the teeth and ready for a fight quickly advanced to secure the entrances of the docking bay. Some of them minded Rath as he merely sought through the Force for life. Emotions were fuddled with fear, and yet there were some who persevered through sheer willpower and conviction. They were the most difficult to influence, Rath learned, and unfortunately one of them appeared to be a tad bit sensitive to the Force. Whether this one was strong or not, Rath wasn't certain, but at least this presence had some training in guarding their mind.

”We will secure the station, but we need you to take the bridge. The sooner we can get this situation contained the better.” One of the Ultranauts instructed both their squad and Rath himself. It was fine, and frankly that was Rath’s plan anyways. To keep any of the orbital weaponry from activating upon the planet and plunge the planet into an all-consuming war. The kind of war that wouldn’t leave much of a planet left to govern. In order to prevent this tragedy from becoming a reality, Rath couldn’t afford to suffer any setbacks. Besides, such an outcome didn’t have much sway in the Force. Whether this was due to ludicrous force energy swelled within his body, but being incredibly sensitive to the Force had its perks.

”Very well. Just focus your fire on the ones who intend to harm you or the crew of this station. Not everyone here came with the goal to set their world ablaze.” He answered in a calm voice. The Ultranaut nods in affirmation before they venture deeper into the station. Leaving Rath with the goal to reach the command center as he stood in the corridor with the open door way that led to their ships. The dark warrior turned to face the other side of the corridor as he channeled the force energy into his body. To magnify the movement speed and accelerate his thought process.

The results were simply Rath appeared to be a streak of shadow that darts from one end of the corridor to the next. After about 45 meters of turning and running swiftly towards his destination. There was another barricade filled with armed men and women filled with conviction that remained unwavering against the daunting presence of fear that Rath seemingly passively radiated from his core. Instinctively Rath acrobatically slipped through the barricade as the warriors turned with an iron fist in an attempt to shoot down their target. Only major difference was that Rath never turned off his accelerated state as he cleaved through them with his beskar sword. Like a streak of light from the mote of darkness that loomed over them. Much to Rath’s credit, he kept it only to disarm them in a literal sense. However, one decided to go down in flames as he pulled a thermal detonator that was already primed.

The instant Rath saw this from his peripherals, Rath dashed further into the station before a fiery explosion consumed the squadron. Leaving behind scorched debris and skeletal bodies as the result.

”Unfortunate…” Rath muttered under his dark mask as he flicked the excessive blood from his blade. Scattering the droplets of life along the now stained walls. His mind on the mission, Rath continued to dash through the corridors as he was essentially making a bee line for the bridge.

The Empire was on the move, and she was postponing a friendly visit for her own fears that perpetuated themselves in her mind. Her form rippling across the dark of space. The planet in question she was near that of an ancient race that built technologies so wondrous and unique that nothing of the current time seemed quite capable of matching in both form and function.

Mulling over the Empires reach for this area, she paused outside of their scopes in orbit. Staring blankly for a time as she observed them in silence. The nature of people never changing as she sensed the anger and hostility from both sides to some degree. Resistance to occupation. Vengeful spite for an attack. Tenuous strands of nerves that hoped for peace.

Something her appearance would certainly strain even further regardless of her intentions for the Empire at this time.

Her gaze fell to the planet, stirring memories of the race that had created wondrous technologies that even the modern age they dwelled could hardly understand. This one in particular seemed to house not only methods of instantaneous transportation, but also that of countless beings of the dark side. She could sense the lingering presence deep beneath the surface, and were it not for needing an excuse, she might have moved on.

The cosmic form however wavered outside the system before deciding to investigate what remained.

Conjuring from the surface a flare along the radiation belts where she decided to enter, the ships would not readily detect her through the anomaly she hid her entrance through. Dedicated scans would show...something moving through the sudden flare, but with nothing to compare, they could draw their own conclusions on what it was.

Those highly sensitive to the force would detect her regardless of her efforts to hide. A fledgling to her own power, she had not fully grasped the nuances of control over what she radiated. Those that found visions within the force might even catch a glimpse of the being that now danced along the surface.
eOpzEnA.png
Doing no more than glancing their way, attention fixated on something beyond them.

Dark, misty robes adorned her lanky figure, limbs drawn as she skipped and partly floated along the small path afforded by the lava flows. The strong glow of the raw life of a planet shimmering like starlight in her white eyes. Drawing on the force, she sustained herself for an adventure beneath the surface. The air acrid and drawing a hand to cover her nose as she gazed upon the place she sought.

A different entrance afforded her access below the surface. Rows of what might have been shelves adorned the hallway beyond the entrance. Night colored fingers tracing the edges of them as she stooped to fit inside the ruin.

They didn’t have to spend a lot of time here for them to feel like there was something deep inside. A rather strong presence, although they felt it was all completely passive or slept. It was definitely alive, but it may have been in stasis. They found it interesting. Especially if this assumption is true, then how is it possible that no one has felt it yet? Over the millenia? They had ideas, but they preferred the facts. Especially since the incident of the Sith princess. So they wanted to make sure what it could be.

Of course, that didn’t rule out the possibility that they might be guessing. But it was still the future, not the present, and they'll see what the future holds.

They had just reached the entrance when they suddenly felt someone else had arrived in the area. Basically, they always survived in the Netherworld by being invisible and hiding their presence. And if anyone did feel them, they didn't go there. They did not seek confrontation, trouble. Dis knew it worked for most creatures. They avoid each other instinctively or wilfully.

In many cases, this was the key to survival. And, although the Shadowcat was not a warrior or a fighter; they were good at something, in survival; as they were observers.

After that, they really floated into the hallway to set off and explore this place. As always, they were very curious about what they could find. The front of the hallway was empty, later they reached larger rooms, but they were all looted by grave robbers or just ruined by time. The doors are broken, blown up. However, after a few minutes of wandering, they reached a door on one of the deeper levels. This door was locked and it was intact.

They hovered through the door, greeted by a much more untouched area inside, and immediately felt that the Force was not working as well in that place. They definitely seemed to find something here…

Fighter pilots. That was what Pamarthe was known for besides the Pamarthen Lion. And that planet held some of the very best fighter pilots in the Galaxy. How did they get so good? It was a combination of generations of skilled training, impecible instincts and ocean terrain littered with rocky islands that could pop up out of nowhere frombehind a high wave.

Lori had arrived to Pamarthe a few days earlier in The Lioness. The fighter was a wedding present to her and she had yet to really test her out. After speaking with some of the locals, she had organized a race. But it wasn't just any race. There were high stakes involved that were more than just a purse of credits.

No, she had wanted some of those fighters to fly for the Elysium Navy and to have Pamarthe join the Elysium Empire if she wins. But if she loses, then not only would The Lioness become theirs, but so too would a portion of her shipbuilding industry with her company belong to them.

It was not the best bet that she had made, but Lori was quite confident in her own skills, despite not knowing the terrain. However she got to help design the course and do a couple of practice runs.

Now she just hoped that her competition weren't cheaters.

Jason was on Pamarthe.

For the first time in his 20-year life, he wasn't in the fishing village of Lamaredd. It had been a long journey to get here and it never failed to amaze him that this journey began with a prank gone wrong. He had spent his life savings to put together a prank involving a trap door on a dock, a distress signal, and a remote to activate the trap, but it turned out the "important looking people" he planned to prank that day had included Royalty! Indeed, The beautiful Queen of The Elysium Empire, Loreena Arenais, had been on the beach that day. So when her guards saw a remote device in his hands, it went south quickly. He had been thrown back into the ocean water, then "rescued" by some muscular guy (who Jason now recognizes as Var-Sulis Var-Sulis , personal guard of The King). He didn't need to be rescued, and the whole thing was so embarassing!

But some good came from it.

When he explained himself to The Queen, she offered him a way out of Lamaredd. She even defended him against the hot headed Aculia Voland Aculia Voland , another woman much more important that Jason could have ever imagined a month ago. So Jason and his "gang" met the queen. From there they were recruited into The Elysium Empire. The most interesting part? The gang didn't get assigned into a traditional group in The Empire. Instead they follow The Queen around, be it on land, air, space, or water. Jason still didn't understand why. They weren't exactly bodyguards, especially if they were to guard The Queen!

Today they were going to be racing some of the best civilian pilots in the southern outer rim...which would certainly be interesting because Jason only had a week of pilot training!!!

Taking in the underdogs. That was what her Mom and Dad always did. So when Lori was told that she had to take Jason Arnett and his gang under her wing as some kind of entourage, she had agreed with merely a hint of reluctance. With the wars brewing and Rex Valhoun Rex Valhoun throwing himself and Elysiums forces into battle more and more; it became more evident that she couldn't really go off into unknown territory on her own anymore.

But at least her fighter was a two-seater, leaving just enough room for her and Arla. So Jason and his gang would have to fly in their own. Hopefully during the race it would continue to be that way. Yet if neither Jason or his gang seemed to fly well, then Arla would have to sit in for them.

Lori poured over the map of the course as she munched on her breakfast. She was sitting in a booth at a restaurant with Jason and the others. "Have you guys memorized the course yet? The beacons should make it easier, but some might get hidden by the waves."

"Yes ma'am, we've done our best. The minimaps will help a lot."

The gang couldn't afford their own ships, but The Elysium Empire covered everything for them, from clothes, to stun guns, to transportation. Today they'd be using Elysium X-Class fighters, a modern copy of the infamous x-wing fighters used for so many years. It was a pretty standard ship, and was the bread and butter of The Elysium Fighter Corps due to its' price and versatility compared to more expensive ships such as the TIE/UD Fighter produced by Haon Hafey's Have Gun Will Travel company.

He was uncertain about the race ahead though. It looked dangerous.
But if The Queen herself was going to participate, then surely it wouldn't be too dangerous, right? It seemed like a logical thought. Still, he was nervous. A week of pilot lessons was hardly enough experience to fly around in lightly contested zones at normal speeds. Now he'd be racing at top speeds! He had failed speed-tests in the simulations two times before finally passing it...

As for his gang, they were no better. Except Rudy...Rudy was like a pro. He'd probably dominate everyone in this race!

There was little that remained that had not been taken by time, decay, or the greed of the living. Though something in the deep thrummed. Slowly, lightly, drawing her attentions away from the architecture that surrounded her.

Her form slowly sweeping through the halls as strong, slender fingers pulled her through the interior. The search was a slow one, the force behaving in strange ways that made her focus sharply to maintain what she could. Her abilities muted in that unseen force as she slowly made her way down until a doorway stood between her and the next place she wished to go.

There had been attempts in the past to open it. Blast marks, large gouges that never seemed to do more than reveal the door to be seemingly thicker than it was. The trio of eyes searching for some give as her hands scoured the surface for a hidden catch or latch. The scraping of nails along the surface a sign of her presence as she pondereded how strong the entrance was.

Something to the right gave way beneath a hand, her gaze drawn to the strange pattern that was faded by time. She squinted, the faint glow of her eyes illumating the pattern beneath her hands that had given her some key to the other side.

She searched and scoured the faint lines, tracing with her free hand before coming to another place that the pattern seemed to gather. While she had no issue with reaching both latches, most normal beings might have had issue given the stretch she had to manage.

A third pattern emitted a soft light to her eyes, getting a sharp sigh from her as she thought about how to manage this puzzle to gain entry.

The transport landed in the docking bay of The Retribution without issue, and was quickly greeted by a military escort, as was common for situations like this. Rex's own escort followed close behind: Two Lion Knights. Rex was confident in their ability to protect him. In fact he was more confident in their abilities in The Force than his own, even though Martin Dux had taken him on as his personal apprentice...

Rex was escorted to the negotiations room, where he took a seat. The Knights did not sit, instead one stood guard outside of the room, and one went to a corner to Rex's right. Rex gave a nod at the man in front of him, though he was unsure of the man's identity and rank. The King then looked around the room, making quick eye contact with everyone in it, before asking "I assume there is no issue with my guards being present?"

He didn't see many familiar faces...a surprise, to be sure. The most surprising absence was the absence of The Empress. Though he had never met her, she had a reputation of doing things herself...a reputation Rex admired. All good leaders lead from the front, and The Empress had mastered leading from the front. Or so he had been told.

"I should also note that the rest of our fleet will be arriving. Your admirals should have been alerted, but I feel I should announce it here, just in case. We don't need to start our own Hyperspace war over a lack of caution in our communication." He let out a slight chuckle and grinned, hoping to lighten the mood before negotiations begin.
