He recognized it for a dream the moment it coalesced before him. The air was far to warm, the day too beautiful. He recognized the woods surrounding his old family home on Naboo during his father's tenure there. He took in the sweet scent of the spring of air, and allowed himself a moment's peace. Dreams were the mind's greatest respite against the uncaring nature of the reality it inhabited; it was only right that he allow himself to enjoy the moment.
A quiet sigh fell from his lips as he settled down into the warm grass. His battleplate had been cast aside for a simple tunic and shorts, and a brief examination of his hands revealed that his body was far younger than in the waking world. He estimated he might have been ten or eleven in this memory.
A ripple tore through the dream. For a moment, the false reality Cedric's mind had pieced together wavered, and then it was still.
But something was different.
Confused, Cedric glanced down at himself. To his surprise, his body had returned to that of his adult self, clad in his usual fur garb.
"What?"
A gust of wind revealed a figure standing a few meters from him beneath an ancient tree. Cedric stared blankly at the figure, knowing full well that somewhere along the way the dream had ended and a vision had began.
The thing Cedric truly did not understand was why he felt the presence of another mind so similar to his own in what should have been a solitary premonition, and more importantly why that presence came from the shrouded figure beneath the tree.
"Hello?"
